Favorite Robin panels, cont.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

Sabaody (cont.)

Look at her. What's she doing. What is that face. I love her.

Top ten funniest panels in One Piece

I really respect her decision. She could have taken the easy way out and saved herself and everyone a lot of trouble by skipping out on getting the Road Poneglyphs, but she has enough faith in herself and the crew to know that they'll make it on their own.

I admire this quick thinking. Her Clutch move might have worked by redirecting the beam at the sky, but she might not have been able to generate enough hands to pull that off in time, especially considering (though they didn't know this at the time) that this Kuma is a robot duplicate. So she does the next best thing: Slam his jaw closed like an alligator's and blow him up from the inside.

Although it was Usopp who grabbed her at the time, I appreciate the similarities between this panel and the ones where Robin is rescued from Aokiji and then abducted to safety on the sea train.

Tequila Wolf

She loves them so much!! She's turning down the chance of a lifetime so she can go be with Luffy in his time of need! Just starts crying just starts crying

auuguhughh she loves her friends

Sabaody (return)

Look at her!! She's so happy to come back and meet up with everyone :')

Image

And she wants to see Luffy again so much!! Ms Robin I love you!!

Fishman Island

This one is great because this is the first time Robin's drawing something unusual they've seen, but she acts like it's a habit for her. Plus, this is what the sketch ended up as:

This is just a lovely shot of her. Look at her. Keep looking at her. Beautiful.

This is a very nice moment - very peaceful and calm, yet her words hold some kind of weight. We've gotten more hints as to Joyboy's identity at this point, but back then he was just as big a mystery as the One Piece itself.

God this is so funny. Why'd she do it like this. She could have stopped their fight any other way.

A very cool Robin! Her pose is great here, especially with the sunglasses, and she very casually deflects their praise onto Jinbe, not taking any credit.

Another adorable Robin and Chopper moment! She doesn't even ask if he needs help, she just supports him without a word.

I love that she chose to hold his head like that instead of holding him under the arms like a normal person

She knows how to do an epic reveal and puts that talent to good use. It's a serious subject, not only because they're talking about a potentially destructive power, but because that power belongs to a young girl who has no idea of her true ability.

Punk Hazard

A super cute panel where she enjoys Usopp's misery while feeding Luffy :)

An amazing panel for several reasons. Robin's inner thoughts are cute as always. Based on Luffy's lack of worry or "How will we get across?" attitude, it seems he has the same idea as Robin. Usopp knows them well enough to read their minds at this point. Absolutely incredible.

A great scary Robin face and all she wants to do is steal the enemy's clothes

Her cold fury for the fact that Franky is making weird faces in Chopper's body culminating in her commanding him to never speak again is just hilarious

Always very funny to see how not seriously they take to being kidnapped and tied up, and the fact that they're reminiscing about when Robin was an enemy is doubly amusing

Image

HER HOODIE

Dressrosa

Yet another peek into her vivid imagination

The combination of the hat and sunglasses gives her a very classy look here

This is Robin's first expression of comic shock and I love it so much

Another great expression, coupled with the fact that this is the moment Usopp's habit of self-aggrandizing and lying finally breaks her

Robin gives off the air of, and often is, sensible. It's moments like these that really stand out, when she's swayed by a sob story (even if she's not crying) or walking headfirst into danger.

Her second expression of comic shock, even better than the first since she's participating in a group gag this time

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

Fun facts of the day!

- State charges cannot be pardoned by the President of the United States. They have to be pardoned by the governor of the state in which the crime was committed

- the governor of Georgia does not have pardon power, that power was stripped in 1943 by the Georgia state legislature

- TV cameras are forbidden in federal court. TV cameras are permitted in state court. It’s already been stated that Donald Trump’s Georgia trial will be televised

- Donald Trump will be booked, processed, fingerprinted, and have his mug shot taken just like any other person who enters the Fulton country jail. They don’t believe in special treatment down there

- the Georgia RICO statue carries a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence which cannot be revoked by a judge

Comment of the year

the catholic old white guy asked me to explain lgbtq+ to him and it was honestly kind of funny

“okay! you have 15 seconds to explain non-binary to me if there are only male and female genders”

me: if you lost your genitals would you still feel like a man?

“no”

would you feel like a woman?

“no?”

so you wouldn’t feel male or female

“yeah what’s your point?”

So, you wouldn’t fit into the gender binary of male or female? :)

him:

Image

“so non-binary just means not feeling male or female?”

Yeah basically

“so why do they use “they” so much”?

if you were a woman would you want to be called a man?

“no…”

And the opposite?

“no…”

Why why would you want someone to call you male or female if you’re not male or female then?”

Image

it’s not a perfect way of thinking but i had 15 seconds and i think it got the point across

if someone challenges you to break through a wall within fifteen seconds, you use a wrecking ball, not precision tools. I think you did marvelously.

as a huge lover of birds, 90% of the concern against wind turbines being used for energy is literally just pro fossil fuel propaganda. birds ARE at a risk however there is a lot of strategies even as simple as painting one of the blades that reduces a lot of accidental deaths. additionally renewable energy sources will do more in favor of the environment that would positively impact birds (and all of us). one study found over one million bird deaths from wind turbines. while that is a shockingly high number and we should work to drastically shrink it, at least 1.3 billion birds die to outdoor cats on a yearly basis. it was never about caring about birds

unfortunately I’m watching supernatural and someone on screen said ‘there are No Wolves in pennsylvania’ and I was like. what a bold incorrect statement. where did they possibly get that idea from. so I googled it…google is insisting there are no wild wolves in pa?? except I’ve Seen wolves here?? there used to be a wolf that would hang out in my backyard and roam around the neighborhood?? like Everyone knew about this wolf we assumed he lived on the golf course and would come to our yards if he got spooked by golfers (very quiet block). like we all thought he just lost his pack or whatever so people just gave him a wide space and let him chill, he didn’t try to break into any houses or attack any pets but this was definitely. a wild wolf. where. where did he come from what do you MEAN there aren’t wolves in pennsylvania I’m literally spiraling right now

still feeling so gut-punched over this

To be fair, PA also said “we did not reintroduce mountain lions, they are not there, you’re seeing really big house cats, please keep coming to the parks and camp sites and ignore that video, that was totally not a mountain lion, someone took last week”

okay I’m sorry but this came up on pinterest and I Screamed

you are the state of Pennsylvania (allegedly)

i just showed this to a friend from pennsylvania and 1. theyre losing their mind bc theyve seen mountain lions which prompted them to look it up which leads me to 2. this fucking bonkers article

[caption: “We’ve been here 45 years and I’ve probably been told by people at least 100 t imes that they’ve seen a cougar or mountain lion,” said owner Vince Hall. “I kind of doubt they saw a cougar, but I’m not God.”]

PA: I can’t believe we’ve lost all our native apex predators Citizens of PA: there’s a mountain lion right there PA: sometimes we can still hear the sound of them scaring away tourists

…PA has fucking EMUS and you want me to believe we have no wolves or mountain lions?

what the fuck do you mean we have emus

Guys, I’ve cracked it

This thing goes all the way to the top

what the fuck is happening in pennsylvania

As a regretful born and raised Pennsylvanian, we have wolves, coywolves, mountain lions, lynx, and coyotes. Not a single person in authority will admit to there being anything but coyotes and lynx. If you see a cougar, they will tell you you saw a lynx. If you see a wolf, they will tell you you saw a coyote. Ignore the massive differences in sizes. No one knows what a coywolf is but we have them. I have seen a cougar with my own two goddamned eyes. There is an entire nature park whose main attractions are the cougars and wolves (and bison but we’re not talking about them) - it’s called Penn’s Cave, it’s been there forever. Everyone I know has seen a cougar or wolf at least once in the woods.

So what I’m getting at is don’t trust the government.

“the state of Pennsylvania is gaslighting its citizens about the native wildlife”

My spouse was born in PA (Bethlehem, Mt Sinai) and he is enjoying this entire thread, which we might show his cousins who live in Philly and have seen the These Aren’t Cougars.

I love how he finds the words to describe the concepts that float around my head daily ❤️❤️❤️❤️ love him!

THIS!! this is literally what i did. i just left, no explanation, no reasoning, just left. people still ask from time to time and i just shrug a shoulder and say “reasons” with zero follow up. i know people make up their own reasons about why i left, but here’s the thing, they would do that no matter what i say

i also want to point out that he specifically mentions christianity in this, but you can still use this guideline for any religion or group.

Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part I should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before.

More lessons from Pratchett:

  • Good isn’t always nice (i.e. sometimes appearing nice is a luxury you can’t afford if you want to do the right thing) (this refers to setting bones and fighting evil, not to being pointlessly horrible)
  • Evil can appear very nice indeed (watch out for people who smile while they deny your basic humanity)
  • People can suck, be rude and actively work against their own best interests, but personkind is still something we must protect so they can keep being wonderful in between all the stupid
  • “Person” is always a broader category than you think
  • It’s not about who’s best for the job - it’s about who shows up and does it
  • Be very aware of how you treat those in your power; you will be judged on it
  • Respect women, which explicitly includes trans women (with or without beards and steel-toed boots)
  • Kings: no. Hard-boiled eggs: yes
Avatar
  • No one - not military leaders, not kings, not patricians, not gods - no one is beyond consequences or above justice
  • Addendum: those who think they are are often the worst of the worst
  • Kids understand more than we think and sometimes the best way to protect innocence is to arm them with knowledge, confidence, and skill
  • How you’re born is intrinsically less important and less relevant than who you make yourself into
  • I can’t put it into a pithy sentence but that bit where Magrat is like “let’s toss [Lily] off the tower” and Nanny answers with “go ahead then” and Magrat hesitates bc it’s easier to do something like that together than to make the decision alone… impactful.
  • Evil begins when we treat people like things.

"This isn't giving me any political benefit anymore, so can I please just not face any consequences for me actions? Thaaanks"

In other words he knows he’ll lose and he’s shitting his pants about how much money this lawsuit will cost him

I mean this cunt can’t even win a moron popularity contest when the guy he’s competing against is a pedophile and rapist currently on trial for treason

Ron DeSantis is a fucking loser

And I say that both as an insult and also as a statement of fact

He loses at things

I hope Disney sues this worthless sack of shit into poverty

Both because I want him to suffer and also because it’ll be a vital message to the rest of his brainless neo-nazi kind not to fuck with those better than them

some day “milf is a slur” discourse will break out and there will be no survivors

good news OP, quite a few people were upset that we called our yuri milf game a milf game, and were even further scandalized to learn it was for a “yuri” game jam because yuri is a bad word also now, too, for some reason

!!! @xekstrin you can’t just mention a yuri milf game and not gives us links to plug it!! I want to know!! I want to know about the yuri milfs!!!

Avatar

It’s called Love On The Peacock Express  you play as a cocky detective on a train full of milfs who have mysteries to solve

I didn’t know @tealesbian was a game developer

I was onboard for that until I learned that the game was funding baby-murder :(

Great post guys

this site is god’s little gift.

This is just The Magnus Institute.

Nope.

They have a gas-based firefighting system instead of sprinklers for obvious reasons. It does lower the percentage of oxygen in the building, but not enough to kill anyone.

I found this by googling “Yale library fire oxygen.” It was literally the first result.

Fact-checking is your friend.

It’s true. It’s not the fire suppression system that kills you. The Librarians come and personally murder you for starting a fire in a library. But you didn’t start a fire you say? No matter. You are collateral damage. Everybody gets killed to show that arsonists have no chance of escaping justice

an orangutan traveling at non-euclidean speeds erupts from the aether to clothesline you into another dimension

god im trying so hard to decipher that last addition and im coming up empty

what’s not clicking

All the Poe stans in the audience:

WE! DO NOT! TALK ABOUT! THE ORANGUTAN!

All the Pratchett stans in the audience:

We can talk about the orangutan! BUT! DO NOT! CALL HIM! A MONK—OH SHIT

“Abolish Golf”

Sticker spotted in Chicago, Illinois.

A typical golf course uses 200 million gallons of water a year. There are over 16,300 golf courses in the United States.

That's nuts.

Ngl I hate golf and I'm all for this. They put a golf course in our public park at the expense of hundreds of centuries-old live oak trees. Half of the walk around the park you're just looking at an empty golf course. Like 2 people want to play golf. So annoying.

Avatar

Golf was a game developed in Scotland, where it rains up to 250 days of the year, and where the courses use very hard-wearing grass. The sand in the bunkers is because it used to be played on the coast - these traditional courses are called "Links" courses. The top Links course in Scotland, Royal Dornoch, uses no mains water at all. They have their own rainwater collection system.

It wasn't originally intended to be played in the middle of a desert on lush green turf that takes thousands of gallons of water a day to maintain. Unless you can keep the course alive using only rainwater collection, it shouldn't exist.

We should stop building golf courses and instead build disc golf courses. They are cheap to build, usually just use the natural woods or terrain, and best of all- accessible to more than just the top 10%. All you need is a disc and the courses are usually free.

Down with the manicured, watered, and carefully maintained golf courses. I'd rather walk through the woods with a few discs.
