A Bookworm. A Chocoholic. A connoisseur of music. Lover of the science behind living and hopes to uncover the mystery behind what makes the universe tick. 'Nuff said.

I am an FOB fan, but I do not care for their cover of We didn’t start the fire.

It did not mention major events across the world in that period, they mentioned at all.

US and UK are not the only places in the world. Other continents much less countries exist.

Covid-19 definitely happened. Everyone went through that just 2 years ago!?

I for one am displeased at the potential for being a cultural phenomenon that this could have been that is now unfortunately not even close to that vision.

It’s clumsy that elon musk gets a reference but legends like who won Nobel prizes or discovering stuff like the Higgs boson or blackholes or idk, telescopes/satellites… idk.

Newsworthy… ok.

But what about the impact on humanity as a whole? It could have been a global bit but now I’m sure it won’t.

fob's we didn't start the fire cover is, like, fine i guess if you've been desperately craving for anything set after billy joel's version, but the fact that it chronically places the usa and uk as the only countries being "newsworthy" and barely acknowledges the existence of news in asia, south america, africa and eastern europe means that it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

that, and it's not even in chronological order. like come the fuck on.

Exactly? I’m flabbergasted to hear nothing about the continent much less country/neighbours that I’m a part of… and the order confused me for sure

people (mostly on twitter) are pissing me off so much with the "its reddit, who cares"

like, its not a social media, its a collection of forums, if you hate certain subs for their politics or opinions, dont visit those (you control the buttons you press or whatever)

meanwhile were about to lose so much information about niche hobbies and interests,

and these are the same people who were complaining last week that you cant find anything on google without adding "reddit" at the end,

are you fucking stupid, do you want to have to look through unrelated blogs and ai generated/pay walled quora answers everytime you need technical assistance or wanna talk about a hobby? is that what you want?

im this close to losing it

I don’t have to worry about "chemicals you can’t pronounce" in my food and my shampoo because I can pronounce every chemical flawlessly and without effort. Butylated hydroxytoluene. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. Fenugreek. I am saying these out loud and laughing at you. I’m immune to all known carcinogens. I can never die. Fight me.

Lol EDTA ? Really?

OHHHHHHHHSFHDJFB GDARE YOU KIDDINGEMEEEEE

ok i have had a LOT of time to think about these parallels.

in itsv, miles isn’t fully spider-man yet. he’s wearing the kids’ costume that doesn’t even fit. peter is the experienced spider-man, wearing the suit, who’s telling him he knows better and that he should sit this one out. but miles doesn’t. he takes his leap of faith and becomes spider-man.

in atsv, miles has a brand-new suit. he’s been spider-man for longer, and he’s had time to figure out what works for him.

peter comments on his new suit design and says it looks like he’s bleeding from the armpits. it’s meant as a joke, but it’s also a subtle nod that a lot of time has passed. peter doesn’t quite get how much miles has changed and come into his own.

in the scene where they have a heart to heart, peter is wearing a bathrobe covering up his spidey suit, showing how he’s out of touch with miles. he’s not the best mentor he can be right now. miles is the one fully displaying the suit. he tells peter he wants to be spider-man in a different way—peter told him in the first movie to “do it like you,” and that’s exactly what miles is doing.

in both scenes, peter thinks he knows better. but miles flips it right on his head and proves that he’s gonna do his own thing.

When I first watched ATSV I thought Miguel's backstory was "my family (which had died in my universe) was alive in this other universe, and the me from that universe just died, so I took his place to be with my family again (who then, of course, all died in the glitch-fest)"

And like, damn imagine going from your "I couldn't save them" guilt in your universe to "I got them killed" guilt in the other universe. That would understandably mess someone up.

BUT, when I watched it a second time, it sounded like Miguel's actual backstory was more like "no I never had a family in my own universe or anything, but I found a universe where parallel!me DID have a family and he just died so I just went 'guess I'm Dad now'."

Which is like. Still very tragic but so much funnier. Miguel showed up one day and went "oh I died that sucks. hey that kid is my daughter now." without so much as a second thought. Scooped her up on sight. Reverse cuckoo-nested that kid. Home-unwrecked that family. Miguel O'Hara said "hey is anyone else gonna adopt my daughter?" and did not wait for an answer. FUNNIER if he just went "this is my wife now, too."

If he weren't so busy angsting and butt-modeling would he just haphazardly adopt all the under-18 Spidermen? Miguel "You don't have to go save your dad Miles I am your dad" O'Hara. Miguel "You said I could hold Mayday you never said I had to give her back" O'Hara. Miguel "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed in you Hobie" O'Hara.

Motherfucker's so afraid of sneezing and erasing a canon event otherwise he'd be fluffed up over a brood of spider-teens in his lair like the Batman-knockoff he was always meant to be.
