Ignore me while I positively simp over Severus, how has no student caught feelings. They must be blind!!!
I miss the era where there'd be outtakes to animated movies like toy story or early 2000s barbie movies that shit was hilarious and so wholesome
I was on a plane this weekend, and I was chatting with the woman sitting next to me about an upcoming writer’s strike. “Do you really think you’re mistreated?” she asked me.
That’s not the issue at stake here. Let me tell you a little something about “minirooms.”
Minirooms are a way of television writing that is becoming more common. Basically, the studio will hire a small group of writers, 3-6 or so, and employ them for just a few weeks. In those few weeks (six weeks seem to be common), they have to hurriedly figure out as much about the show as they can – characters, plots, outlines for episodes. Then at the end of the six weeks, all the writers are fired except for the showrunner, who has to write the entire series themselves based on the outlines.
This is not a widespread practice, but it has become more common over the past couple of years. Studios like it because instead of paying for a full room for the full length of the show, they just pay a handful of writers for a fraction of the show. It’s not a huge problem now, but the WGA only gets the chance to make rules every three years – if we let this go for another three years and it becomes the norm? That would be DEVASTATING for the tv writing profession.
Do I feel like I’m mistreated? No. I LOVE my job! But in a world of minirooms, there is no place for someone like me – a mid-level writer who makes a decent living working on someone else’s show (I’d like to be a showrunner someday, but for now I feel like I still have a lot to learn, and my husband and I are trying to start a family so I like not being support rather than the leader for now). In a miniroom, there are only two levels – the handful of glorified idea people who are already scrambling to find their next show because you can’t make a decent living off of one six-week job (and since there are fewer people per room, there are fewer jobs overall, even at the six-week amount), and the overworked, stressed as fuck showrunner who is going to have to write the entire thing themselves. Besides being bad for me making a living, I also just think it’s plain bad for television as an art form – what I like about TV is how adaptable it is, how a whole group of people come together to tell a story better than what any of them could do on their own. Plus the showrunner can’t do their best work under all of that pressure, episode after episode, back to back. Minirooms just…fucking suck.
The WGA is proposing two things to fix this – a rule that writers have to be employed for the entire show, and a rule tying the number of writers in the room to the number of episodes you have per season. I don’t think it’s unreasonable. It’s the way shows have run since the advent of television. It’s only in the last couple of years that this has become a new thing. It’s exploitative. It squeezes out everyone except showrunners and people who have the financial means to work only a few months a year. It makes television worse. And that is the issue in this strike that means everything to me, and that is why I voted yes on the strike authorization vote.
I explained this to a young writer recently. They could not understand why the WGA might go on strike, and worried that it would hurt younger writers.
They had worked in TV for 4 years, been on 3 major TV shows, primarily in “mini rooms”, had their name listed as cowriter on one broadcast episode and had never been on set for any of their shows. Had never seen anything they wrote being filmed. They knew next to nothing about the actual process of getting TV made.
I explained that we weren’t going on strike for people like me, we were going on strike for people like them. Because we need more writers to be there, to work their way up. We need a generation of showrunners to take over from us, and to, I hope, have an easier time of it. We need the young writers to be properly paid, not to be on a six week writers room once a year, and a crack at having their names on a script.
Their reply: “So they are basically asking for all the things I could have really done with in the last three years”.
I said, yes, and sent them a link to the WGA pattern of demands, as I link for you now:

The ✨beautiful✨
i learned that each woman spends approximately $5,600 on her period over her lifetime (x)
this reminded me of the reason why i bought reusable menstrual pads in the first place
im so happy with my collection
where did you get them? theyre so cute I love!
Last period was the first time I didn’t use any non reusable products!
REUSABLE???? THERE’S REUSABLE ONES?????
I love reusable ones! Using them almost a year now!
WHAT!!!!
BROOOO
WHATTT
hop aboard the reusable menses product train y’all! boss up your coochie!! all joking aside though, i’ve saved money, no more cramping or inner thigh rashes from the dioxins and other weird chemicals and (pandemic related) fewer reasons to take impromptu trips out of the house. win-win all around.
i bought their trial pack (one of each pad size + pouch) just to see how these pads are like and just a day after using, i bought a starter pack (2 liner, 3 regular, 2 overnight + pouch)
i included a photo below beside my switch for comparison of how big the xl and overnight pads are (i love using both for for nighttime use). daily, i use my regular pads and when working out/post-period, i use the liners.
honestly these are such amazing investments. i cant see myself using commercial pads ever again. they dont stink nor leak and you just have to make sure youre not wearing lace or any flimsy underwear so they’ll stay in place. i totally recommend this!
OMG WHAT THERE ARE REUSABLE ONES????
PSA I JUST SAW THEY NOW HAVE ANIMAL CROSSING PATTERNS IM SCREAMING RIGHT NOW
the amazing part is that it’s 5 LAYERS AND COMES WITH TWO BUTTONS TO SNAP TOGETHER!!
PS! You bleed on the black bamboo fiber part and not on the villagers 😂
Love these. Game changing. Don’t knock it til you try it.
Sharing for people with vaginas who have periods and similar things.
Requesting others reblog to spread word.
If your blog is specific niche, I ask you Like/heart to bump signal slightly.
I recently ordered from them and I love that the colourful fabrics are water proof. They are worth buying!!
I bought these because of a post I saw about them and did some research. I absolutely love them! I’m probably gonna get more soon cause I only got the trail pack, and am sick being on my period have having to do laundry right that second to have more pads ready. But absolutely 20/10!
i literally stopped having cramps after i started using them
I bought some of these a bit ago. Forever reblog.
I’ve been using the reusable pads for about three months, just about to buy more. They’re amazing!
No one told me there was REUSABLE ONES???
Excuse me NO CRAMPS??? And do these cute little patterns not get stained??
I don’t know about no cramps (I’ve heard that the chemicals in the disposable pads make cramps worse which I wouldn’t doubt but I have no experience) but mine don’t really stain! You are supposed to soak them, which is probably even better, but I just toss mine in the wash as soon as I change them (which encourages me to run a load of laundry lol, I run it with my towels and nothing weird has ever happened). I cannot recommend cloth pads enough I LOVE them.
I used these post partum with all of my kids, and I intend to buy them for my own kids when they start menstruating. I would like to add that they make diapers from the same material that will save you a fortune when you have babies, and it’s so much easier on their skin.
I use these! I found them from this post, and they are super comfortable and absorbent. I got the starter pack, and I’m eventually going to get a couple more of the overnight and regular sizes.
This meme is a MURDER ATTEMPT.
I am absolutely fucking serious. The original meme, without the big red denial, is someone's attempt to fucking kill people.
There is NO SAFE DOSAGE of pennyroyal oil. Even Mother Earth News says there's no reason to use pennyroyal essential oil for ANYTHING, even topically or as a fragrance, for fuckssake! That should give you some idea about how dangerous it is!
Pennyroyal tea, plant matter in hot water, is a traditional abortifacient. It is *incredibly* dangerous, induces abortion by bringing the body close to organ failure (and frequently pushing the system right over the edge, because dosage is impossible to meter), but I would drink a gallon of it before I took a half-teaspoon of pennyroyal essential oil.
Two teaspoons, taken across 48 hours, has successfully killed someone.
Three teaspoons taken as a single dosage killed the consumer within THREE HOURS.
There is NO SAFE DOSAGE! FOR PENNYROYAL OIL INTERNALLY! NONE!
The person who made this meme is PURPOSEFULLY, ACTIVELY, trying to get desperate people killed!
Pennyroyal oil contains pulegone, which is highly toxic, particularly to the liver. Ingestion can lead initially to gastrointestinal distress such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Later on, it can lead to failure of the liver and kidneys, resulting in bleeding, seizures, multiple organ failure, and death.
There is no antidote for pennyroyal oil poisoning.
- straight from poison control
In the hope that this saves someone’s life one day.
i am utterly disappointed in who i have become. i wanted to be someone better, someone important, someone beautiful. but instead i waste space, i waste time and i burden the people i love. this isnt the future i had in mind for myself and i know its too late. i’ll never get that future i dreamed of as a child.
Oh they’re going to need salvation.
Not just making it illegal, but making being gay punishable with death.
This is one of the many reasons why I walk by every single red bucket in the run-up to Christmas. They’re not getting my money, I don’t care how nice the people ringing bells are.
Ever since the time they threatened to close all their soup kitchens in NYC if a law that did something as simple as allow companies to extend spousal benefits to their employee’s same-sex domestic partners I have refused to buy from them or donate to them.
It’s that time of year again! In case people don’t know… the Salvation Army is shitty peoples.
Also, the married women are not paid (and therefore can’t qualify for assistance if they should ever divorce, etc). And worth “of course” less than a man.
“ In the Army’s case, the agreement for compensation is that the officer allowance be paid jointly to the husband—the check is written in his name. Officially, the wife is a “worker without expectation of remuneration,” and her husband receives 40 percent more of an allowance as a married man than he would as a single man. “
hey since that season is coming up again!
To my American followers. Don’t support Salvation Army. Not only are they homophobic as shit, but I’ve also heard that they abuse a lot f homeless people. They only care about money, please don’t donate to them and give your money to charities that actually help people
Never don’t reblog.
To be clear: this is specific to America. It is not necessarily going to be true for all countries. Please don’t boycott your own salvos without proper investigation: in many countries they do good work.
Sorry but no, the Salvation Army was founded in the UK and even there still are homophobic as hell, to the point that they still refuse to let out gay people hold positions of power in the organisation. This is a callout for the whole group, not just the US. - Purple
AND Canadian salvation army is just as bad! the whole organization is rotten from the core! Canadians are not immune to bad organizations!
Reblog to continue the violent hate against the Salvation Army.
Snape is so physically non violent it's honestly kind of weird, considering how nasty he can be verbally. He's by some distance the nastiest Hogwarts teacher in the classroom (I'm ignoring some of the DADA outliers), but at the same time he's by far the most responsible in terms of student safety and appropriate punishments. He's one of the very few who never endangers them in some manner, and the one who most goes out of his way to protect them. I wonder why that is. With Harry it's fairly simple to see why, given that he sees him as James yet has promised to protect him. With other students it isn't so simple.
Can I just say: as a Jew, and as a politics student who has studied radicalisation, I actually have a lot of respect for people who turn away from white supremacist or other hate groups, because I know how easy it is to join, and how difficult it is to leave. The thing a lot of people don’t understand is that it’s REALLY, REALLY EASY to fall victim to radicalisation. And typically, from religious cults to white power groups to ISIS, the process is fundamentally the same: young, emotionally vulnerable people are targeted. Often they’re befriended by someone in the group who validates their feelings that the world is out to get them. I’ve read that the most significant predictor of radicalisation is disruption in the family/home. Often, young people don’t join hate groups because they necessarily believe in the ideology at first - they want to belong to a “family,” they want to feel valued, they want to feel like they’re apart of something, and they’re willing to adopt whatever ideology they need to in order to gain that. And you can’t just leave. Many people become trapped this way - they become disillusioned and want to leave, but they know that if they do, they face retribution. The group WILL send members after them, with the intent of serious violence. It takes courage to leave. How this pertains to Severus Snape: I don’t think a lot of people realise that Snape is a textbook case of radicalisation. And given the relevance of the issue in today’s world, I don’t think this gets talked about enough. An insecure, bullied young boy from a broken home, who already had some inkling of pureblood supremacist ideology, was scooped up by older kids who groomed him into a Death Eater. He later turned away from that ideology, but as far as the death eaters were concerned, he never strayed. His options were to remain genuinely loyal to Voldemort, be genuinely loyal to Dumbledore while pretending to still be loyal to Voldemort, or be tortured/killed as punishment. Which is why it was MASSIVELY brave of him to turn away in the first place. Yes, we’re all responsible for our own choices. But it isn’t as simple as that. Sometimes we aren’t strong enough to choose what is right over what is easy, so we make bad choices. Sometimes, our true character is revealed not through our good choices, but how we handle our bad ones. And the fact that so many people can’t wrap their heads around this, to me, is just scary.
Well this certainly is enlightening if nothing else (:; ‘v’ )a but I feel kinda conflicted at this. Do radicalists deserve our pity/empathy?
As a character I love Snape to pieces, mostly because I enjoy reading about him and figuring him out. If Snape were an actual person though, depending on how much damage he did as a deatheater, I don’t know how willingly I would hear him out.
I think it’s important to judge on a case by case basis. Like I said, there are many reasons why people join such groups, and also, the process of radicalisation is very insidious - many people join willingly because they believe, others join willingly but it’s because they’ve been groomed, others get swept up in the tide, and they absolutely do deserve empathy, because no matter what you believe about yourself, no matter how strong your convictions, you can’t know for certain that it couldn’t be you. Brainwashing is powerful.
And some do more damage than others. In Snape’s case, it’s HEAVILY implied in the novels that he didn’t do much damage as a death eater - not only did he not kill anyone, but that conversation with Bellatrix in HBP is meant to shed some light on Snape’s role within the death eaters. Always making excuses, letting others do the dirty work, etc. Given that this scene is meant to foreshadow Dumbledore’s death, and in light of Snape’s reaction when Dumbledore asks him to do the deed…it’s obvious that Snape wasn’t out raping and pillaging on the reg.
So what WAS he doing? We’re only told of one thing he ever did as a DE, which I think is significant: spying. Which is why the worst thing he’s ever done, as presented in the novels, is deliver the prophecy. His damage is that he (accidentally) put in motion the events that led to Lily’s death and subsequently the whole story.
Snape’s darkest moment is NOT that he became a Death Eater out of some genuine belief in Pureblood ideology, but that he may have joined out of a sense of bitterness against a society that has abandoned him, and a desire for vengeance against figures like Dumbledore and the Marauders. A desire to get back at his supposed enemies, against his better judgement and at the expense of others lives.
The majesty of his redemption is that 17 years later he is so transfigured that he is willing to lay down his life for the same society that abandoned him, for his so-called enemies, for those who genuinely HATE HIM.
If you can’t see the power in “Lately, only those I could not save,” then you missing the point by a mile. This was only made possible because Snape was given that chance.
“The majesty of his redemption is that 17 years later he is so transfigured that he is willing to lay down his life for the same society that abandoned him”
fucking superb you funky little felon
Go big or go home😂😂
