When You Least Expect It. Probably Late March

reblog for happiness to come for you in late march!

I reblogged this last year and I hung out with blink-182 backstage on March 30. Reblogging again because it worked the first time.

honestly, last year one of the best days of my life happened in late March

This is gonna be just my opinion and thoughts, but I believe none of the DFB players are well spoken or educated enough to make a good comment on the whole racism problem with Mesut and DFB. They keep commenting on this issue but I don’t think they understand the issues bc #1 theyve never been talked about for their ethnicity, so they don’t understand what Mesut has gone through. #2 bc theyre stuck in their own world and dont pay attention to the world, or the news or history. I don’t think any of the guys mean anything negative or hurtful towards Mesut but, I do think theyre not informed enough to make a smart comment on everything.

Very sorry to hijack your post but man I don’t buy this.

It’s one thing if they weren’t making smart comments on the relationship between say, health insurance costs and life expectancy. Football is incredibly time intensive and becomes what you breathe and live from a very young age; it’s understandable if you aren’t the most knowledgeable about the world or politics at large.

Mesut is their teammate though. He is someone they shared locker rooms, glory, defeat with- someone they went thru hell and back together with. Even in an office job professional blends in with personal. I don’t buy how you can play alongside someone for so many years, go thru all that, and never have his background come up. Never share his moments of pride, joys, struggles, his small vices.

Besides, Mesut is hardly the only Turk in the NT or in Germany. This is something you live with everyday and if you manage to stay oblivious to that, to what is so intimately going around you, then that is completely on you. I don’t think they went into it aiming to hurt Mesut either but they have got to know better than that. They have at the very least got to know their teammate better.

germany nt r really dragging themselves to the death look what thomas muller said i’m

Just wanted to tell you guys that it was translated the wrong way and people interpreted it the wrong way. He stated that there was NO racism within the team as of for the players, which was stated by Neuer and Özil as well. And the last sentence which caused all this “drama” actually means “racism shouldnt be a thing in the dfb team, nor in the sport as a whole” which means he is totally against it!

Oh thank god I was actually ready to fight my whole fucking team guys

not to crash anyone but he said what he said which is basically „von rassismus im sport und in der nationalmannschaft kann absolut keine rede sein“ which basically means „there can be absolutely no talk/speech of racism in sports nor in the nationalteam“ like idk if we understand different german or something, just accept that he f*cked up

“The comments of Mr Hoeness miss the point completely, as they have absolutely nothing to do with football. He is trying to divert attention away from the real issue, the issue of racism and discrimination in Germany, which is resurging once again within everyday German society. "As Mesut said in his statement, he accepts reasonable and fair criticism of his football, and deals with that as part of the job. However, Mr Hoeness cannot even provide any actual evidence to back up his foolish statements that are clearly exaggerated. In this case, the stats are clear. Twenty-three goals, 40 assists - which is a German record - and five-time German player of the year - three of which come after 2014. "He claims that Mesut has been a ‘ghost' for years, but what 'ghost' wins all these awards and has this much success? Mesut created more chances in the 2018 World Cup per 90 minutes than any other player, but, of course, he singles him out for criticism. As the president of Bayern Munich is it not best to focus on the performance of his own players seeing as eight of the Germany team play for the club. "If Mesut is such a bad player, what does this say about his opinion on Joachim Low, Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho? These are three elite managers who praise Mesut as one of the best in his position. It is laughable that he thinks he is more qualified to judge footballing abilities than these people, with fabricated statistics. "It is obvious that his comment about Mesut not making any tackles is completely made up and false. But, just so everyone knows, in both the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Euros, Mesut won over 65 per cent of duels per game, moreover he was the most important player in the games against France and Italy in 2016, again making a complete mockery of his ludicrous comments. "The facts speak for themselves and anyway who is he to speak about Mesut in this way? These lies are cheap, stereotypical and baseless comments - made without any foundations - that allow hurtful news to spread.  "Mr Hoeness, we will not waste any more time or energy talking about a subject clearly you know nothing about. Something he does know about though, is the 28.5 million euros in tax he evaded, when he was forced to resign from his role at Bayern Munich and sentenced to prison for his criminal behaviour. "What kind of person does this make him? When he committed this illegal and criminal act, he stole money away from the German society for his own selfish reasons. This money could’ve helped develop schools and hospitals, but instead went into his own greedy pockets. Not only is he a disgrace to yourself, but also and more importantly a shame to German football and the people of Germany.” “Hoeness has very conveniently attempted to direct the conversation to football,” Dr Sogut added. "You will have noticed that Mesut’s statement did not place great focus on football and anyway he accepts football-related criticism. The real issue is that which was previously mentioned – the resurgence of the racism and indiscriminate scapegoating he has been subjected to. “He has shown the courage and bravery to speak up for all of those who are unfairly treated in Germany. Immigrants, Muslims and more. These are people he does not represent. Hoeness is clearly one of those people who is not able to face the issues that are in front of him, and is the one hiding behind false stats. "Hoeness is no better than the people Mesut mentioned in his statement, as he has purposefully ignored this wider point. And has done so on purpose. Hoeness knows what he is doing. Issuing crazy comments about Mesut’s football, he thinks, it will create a big reaction and will cover the real issue. "The issue he and many in Germany are scared to confront, an issue he would prefer to sweep under the carpet because he can’t face the uncomfortable truth. He shows the depth of his character and his true personality by ignoring this and making idiotic comments about football. "Well, I will not let him succeed. Mesut has given everything for Germany on and off the pitch - contributed more to the country than he could ever dream of.”

I used to wear the German shirt with such pride and excitement, but now I don’t.

Mesut Özil

My heart is broken. Die Mannschaft have always been my #1 in football and to hear what he had to go through and to be mistreated so grievously (especially by DFB officials themselves), leading to him feeling like this… He has given and achieved so much with this team. I’ve been avidly watching him play in the German shirt since WM 2010. I’m well and truly heart-broken.

Mesut is going OFF on instagram and I am LIVING! YES baby call OUT german media for their racist double standards!

Hey so I’m just going to say that yeah Mesut was niave as shit posting that picture. But the point of his current rant on instagram is that german media ALWAYS brings up his Turkish heritage, whether it’s relevant or not. Even before that picture. As he said in the post, “I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose.” Did he set himself up by posting that picture? Yeah, but the resulting scandal was a continuation of fundamentally anti-immigrant criticism that has followed Özil throughout his career. By not allowing Mesut to say his piece and explain his actions and how he inturn paid for those actions (through having his name dragged through the dirt, through being verbally harassed by “fans,” through having to meet with officials in Berlin to explain a picture, etc) you are contributing to the unfair treatment of high profile individuals of immigrant backgrounds. You are holding them to a different standard than their white counterparts who also make mistakes and are able to continue there careers once they face consequences. Mesut no longer feels he can continue. Was the picture bad? Yes. Did Özil face consequences? Yes. Has Özil been a popular scapegoat for German media? Yes. Am I surprised he’s had enough? No.

My favourite part about mesut dragging his haters is he came with the facts! the reciepts!! the references!!! that shit was organized and well thought out! it was a three part essay about how he was personally affected by the racism and xenophobia in germany. it followed the point proof comment method he wasnt playing!! He called the assholes out by name!! He quoted them directly!! Ruthless! we love an academic savage!!

He and his management didn’t leave any prisoners while gathering the sources.

I mean he obviously didn’t do it alone, but it’s still so fucking good! Pulling out Grindel quotes from 2004? Calling out Matthäus meeting Putin? You’re doing a great job, sweetie.

Also a bit of extra (very much earned) pettiness towards the german press by putting out after the print deadlines, in english and in images so they can’t just copy and they have to translate it.

About the Özil debate.

This whole drama started because he openly supports Erdogan, the Turkish president, now. You know, that Turkish president who wanted to see German satirist Jan Böhmermann in jail over a satirical poem about outdated laws in Germany (Erdogan was just used as an example for it). You cannot support a president that imprisons all their critics whilst living in and/or playing for a democratic country, hence why the German media is covering it.

I’m not saying that he deserves to get beaten up or called racist names, however it was such a dumb thing to do, especially when you take the political climate between Germany and Turkey into consideration.

Long story short, it’s not because he’s Turkish, it’s his political views.

look, i’m not saying he shouldnt be critized for the picture he took with erdogan which he absolutely should, but the discourse has just been pretty racist instead of actually discussing what the picture means and how to deal with it :)

 1. he never said he openly supports erdogan he said he didnt mean to endorse erdogan and that he took a picture with him because hes the president of the country of mesuts parents (which is not an excuse but you know i never read or heard him actually endorsing erdogan so feel free to enlighten me if he actually did)

2. his family and he himself have apparently gotten many emails, phonecalls and messages on social media etc in which they were insulted, in which they were threatened and in which they were told to “go back to where they came from”

3. german politicians especially from afd but also other partys have been racist towards him calling him “goatfucker” along other racist ass names which is absolutely despicable. people have actually used this mess now to be pretty racist towards people with turkish heritage in germany in general which is disgusting

4. also he has been especially so heavily criticised because of his heritage. where are the critics when it comes to lothar matthäus shaking hands with putin during an official meeting and telling him how the great the world cup was and how good he did? nowhere.

5. literally no one from the dfb actually tried to protect him in any kind. at first they tried to ignore it and move on and then when the team crashed out of the group stage they quickly made mesut özil out to be the scapegoat bc he “didnt adress” the picture (especially grindel in this case)

so in conclusion mesut özil has been abused by german media and german politicians. instead of criticising his decision to take a picture with erdogan they simply chose the picture as a starting point to argue about his turkish heritage and if he is “worthy” of playing for germany etc.

which means the whole thing has absolutely to do with him being of turkish heritage thank u for ur attention goodnight
