Apartment Story// The National

Stay inside til somebody finds us Do whatever the TV tells us Stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz So worry not All things are well We’ll be alright We have our looks and perfume on

I don’t know if anyone has posted this but in case no one has: here’s the link to a gofundme to help organize a memorial for Aron Eisenberg.

The link was copied from the official 7th Rule Podcast (a podcast that was run by Cirroc Lofton and Aron) facebook page, so this is 100% legit (I know, how doubting the authenticity of such a campaign would be iffy, but considering how there are so many people out there willing to scam people of their money like that just made me cautious of such things).

Even if you can’t donate, please spread this around if you can.

UPDATE (9/25):

The donations on the gofundme for the Eisenberg family are open again!

The person running the donation had to previously close it when it reached $20.000 due to the fear of additional taxing - however the family managed to get the necessary help/advice regarding the finances, and the donations are now open again.

All the proceeds go to the Eisenberg family to cover the funeral costs as well as any potential medical bills that may come up.

Even if you can’t donate, please, again, spread this if possible.

All that I care about is that I love stories. I love the relationships in them and various aspects of stories that I pay attention to or am attracted to. And they don’t really belong to a genre or style. And it’s not about the money. It’s more about the story that you’re telling.

WHAT

“Star Trek offered hope to a generation who had grown up haunted by the specter of nuclear war. A significant portion of its viewers remembered the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, when the country was readying for World War III. Kids were being taught to “duck-and-cover”; beneath their school desks if they saw an atomic flash. Grim end-of-the-world scenarios were shown in popular books and films. At the same time, our paranoia toward Soviet Russia had reached an all-time high—which may explain why space aliens were generally portrayed in fims as evil monsters, bent on conquering Earth. And in the midst of this paranoia and fear came a bright message of hope in the form of Star Trek, which said, “Yes, we will survive the atomic age. We will contact other intelligent life on other planets, and they’ll be our friends, not our enemies. Together, we’ll work for the common good.’”

— Leonard Nimoy, I Am Spock, hypothesizing on why Star Trek found a place in the hearts of its fans, and why its fans would be so passionate about it. (via commanderspock)
