I'm Here.

Hello

the way these strikes get framed is always so funny to me

"the strike could stretch on until the end of summer" or the execs could pay their workers

"there won't be ANY new shows because of this strike" or the execs could pay their workers

"no more content for us because the mean old writers and actors are-" OR THE EXECS COULD PAY THEIR WORKERS

as Craig of the Creek is coming to a close in the near future, i cant help but repeat again and again forever just how fantastic that show was and how i do wish it garnered more attention in tumblr's general cartoon fandom circle. it got little bursts of love when episodes about important topics came out, but it never saw it keep that love consistently- the whole show deserved that high praise.

CotC followed in the footsteps of Steven Universe and did more with that opening to representation and diversity!! this really showed how important SU was for cartoons. CotC has an incredibly diverse cast- in show and out of show. The writers/artists/storyboarders/etc themselves- poc, neurodivergent, and lgbt put their stories into these episodes by writing them into characters. cultures and experiences explored in ways i had never seen so frequently and so deeply in a kids show. i might have some bias but my internship on the show for a summer really let me see even more how that crew as a whole put their hearts into it, and how much that diversity is so important to any piece of art.

poc showing their home lives, unique experiences, and cultures. kids discovering their sexuality and being able to talk with older gays for advice! exploring the struggles and feeling with a kid who heavily implies having autism, genderfluid characters respected and unquestioned (and one being a literal creeksona of the nonbinary board artist Angel Lorenzana!), and overall the wide range of experiences children having with their parents, friends and overall life.

they are children, they write them will and are entertaining to everyone imo. when i saw the show has "serious" plot i mean that these writers care, they care a lot about making these characters mean something in the story, and that being for "kids" wont make them hold back on important messages, deeper feelings, and realistic actions. the world is shown through the lens of "playing pretend" to have those fantastical moments, but they pull back many times to show the reality. sometimes you make mistakes but you learn, you dont agree with your parents but you work it out, you make bad decisions and hurt your friends but you can grow. (in some ways i wonder if tumblr would devolve into old the SU thoughts of 'redemption' on these 10 year olds too and get mad about the 12 year old being redeemed for bullying so, maybe its ok it doesnt have a fandom that big lol). the shows core ideas bring a special kind of nostalgia- one part in the form of seeing myself in the world they made, but also getting to relive a feeling of childhood that maybe i didnt get.

i hope in the future people can discover this show. it was axed (along with its spinoff) in half by the execs. there were at least 7 more episodes ready to be made before they cut it. im so happy they ended up with 181 episodes and a movie, but it deserved to keep going. it got a good 5 years but it shouldve had more, it felt like a timeless show.

There's something I never understood about Shark. Tag said once that Shark doesn't have parents, and in another episode we meet Shark's cousin. So why does Shark live in the old sardine factory if he has other family he could potentially stay with? Is he a runaway and only his cousin knows where he is? It's just something I've wondered.

Okay, I have to admit that I'm shocked to hear Shark has cousin 😀 Can you tell me please in which episode that happened? Because first three seasons I've watched in Russian and it was a long time ago, and I don't remember something like this at all! And if this happened in the new season, I also don't speak French well to fully understand what's going on there.

But that's right, Shark doesn't have parents, and it looks like his other teammates are in the same boat. I was always interested in their team's backstory too! If there's at least one more season, I wish we could get a little bit information about Sharks ☺️💖

Shark's cousin was in season 2. He was only in one episode though. His name was Robert. He was the hippie looking guy that Shark asked to help the Blues get into the right mindset for the next world cup. This guy...

It was episode 11 if I remember correctly.

This was such a fun episode. Nothing ground breaking, but definitely a good time. I loved Bee-lzebub's introduction. She's portrayed as the ultimate party girl, which makes sense since she's the queen of gluttony and is all about indulging herself, but also she's a genuinely chill and friendly person and looks after everyone around her to make sure they're having a good time. The way she talks can come off as kind of condescending, but I feel like that's on purpose to dig at Loona's trust issues. Also she is so sweet with Vortex and I ship it so hard. I really hope she comes back at some point, and I think I know a really good way for her to do so.

Stolas and Ozzie need a reality check about their relationships with Blitzo and Fizz respectively, and I think Bee is the best person to give that to them. Both because she's also a ruler of hell, and because of her own relationship with Tex, which she is very happy in and doesn't try to hide. Hellhounds are considered the lowest rung on the ladder, even under imps, so a princess of hell like Bee in a happy, open relationship with one would probably get other royals talking, but we can already tell that she doesn't really care what other people think of her as long as she is enjoying herself, and I think that's the kind of attitude that Stolas and Ozzie could use. Especially if the rumors are true and the Fizz and Ozzie central episode coming up will have them breaking up.

Bee could be the one to show them that what everyone else says shouldn't matter as long as you're happy with the person you love, no matter who or what they are. That if you truly care for someone, other people's opinions are worthless so long as your partner makes you feel like the best version of yourself.

I don't know if it'll actually happen, but I think it would be cool to see.

You know what?

I’m a HUGE fan of how Beelzebub gets to be bitchy, popular, party girl who is also the girlfriend of the guy our POV character has a crush on AND just genuinely kind of an ok gal. Her tone of voice comes off as mean, but if you listen to her words, she just wanted Loona to have a good time at her party and was genuinely concerned about Blitzo’s well-being.

Yes, she sounds and looks like a mean-girl, but she never actually acts that way. Even if you kind of expect her to, because that’s how the narrative usually goes with bitchy, pretty girlfriends of cute guys our socially awkward protagonists have crushes on. It’s very clear that Loona’s confrontial attitude is entirely in her head, brought out by her own insecurities, which is understandable, but doesn’t mean that she is right about Bee. Because Bee is actually a sweetie.

Well done Tex. You scored a great girlfriend!

Ares: *sighs*

Apollo: what’s up

Ares: just thinking about how modern society threw my title ‘protector of woman’ out the window and branded me a misogynist

Apollo: now listen here, it’s just a suggestion, don’t take this to heart but

Apollo: Could it be the aesthetic?

Random thought;

Raj when he's sick becomes super clingy and whiny because he hates feeling bad and doesn't want to be alone when he's unhappy.

Bowie when he's sick becomes a hermit and locks himself in his room with whatever supplies he could manage to grab and will not talk to anyone until he feels better.

Wayne when he's sick is hard to tell because he doesn't want to be sick so he'll do his best to mask his symptoms until he passes out from high fever and has to basically be tied down to keep him from making himself worse.

god no one does character designs like foot 2 rue... the sharks are absolute perfection

Something I thought was odd they never addressed with the bay sharks was the fact that they were all homeless. The bay sharks were literally a group of homeless street kids that made their own little home in an abandoned factor. They never talked about it in the show, at least that I remember.

How I love my boy

Shark

Shark was always my favorite character in this show when I was a kid. He was grounded, reasonable, kind, but not a pushover by any means. He was strict with his code and made sure all his boys followed it. He looked out for those close to him and was full on willing to get physical if it meant protecting someone he cared about, especially his team, the bay sharks, which are basically his brothers. Also he was a little goofy and dorky which made him even more likeable. I love Shark. I miss this show. Good memories.
