sometimes I randomly remember that Mr Ratburn from Arthur is gay married to a chocolatier and a sense of calmness and prosperity washes over me like a wave

someone just reblogged this old post out of nowhere, causing a sense of calmness and prosperity to wash over me like a wave

Happy pride month to that rat

I don't know where to begin but I'll try to be brief.

I'm a single mom of 4 kids working my ass off, while recovering from cancer and trying not to die from liver failure brought on by the cancer. I'm working and working but it's not enough. We are working towards 2 additional, maybe even 3, streams of income for the household but there are delays and complications (gears if government nonsense). Relief is in sight but just out of reach. For now.

And now? I'm having to take a leave of absence from work to deal with the liver bullshit. At the end of this my liver will be fixed and I'll no longer be dying, but in the meantime i have procedure after procedure, hospital stay after hospital stay, and maybe a really intense surgery to round it all out. We don't know. My surgeon oncologist is just desperately trying to figure this out as we go.

But that does mean what income flow we did have has come to a stop. For a not yet determined amount of time. The guess is 2 months but we just don't know. And I'm all but living in the cancer ward so for real i cannot work through this.

I need help. I need lots of help. Bills and rent don't hold off just because I'm dying. Or well. Trying not to die. I don't even know what i need. But it's a lot with a household of 5, and the shit finances my ex wife left me.

If you can help, here is my paypal. Every little bit does help! And please ignore the deadname.

And reblogs are appreciated!

Wanna trade me monies for cat photos? My brand new patreon won't save us alone, but every dollar helps and here you can trade 3-5$ for quality cat photos!

I think THINK hope pray things are coming to a close. I have a very important appointment with my oncology surgeon on the 19th where i beg for surgery to finally be the chosen solution, because nothing else is working, and that we can get it planned and scheduled first available. Then, of course, there is recovery time. This is not a minor surgery. This is changing the structure of my liver. This is why this has been back burnered time and time again. But it seems my liver has hopefully, at this point, proven nothing else will work so we can get it done once and for all.

Between now and then I'm still going to need a lot of financial help.

Anything and everything adds up!

Thank you

Ignore my dead name, please!

OK WAIT SO IF POC GET STRICTER SENTENCES IN COURT… AND IF WOC ARE MORE AT RISK OF MISCARRIAGE AND GENERAL MALPRACTICE… AND IF SEX EDUCATION IS WORSE IN INNER CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS… AND IF RACIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION IS PRACTICED BY 85% OF REAL ESTATE AGENTS… AND IF SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE FUNDED VIA PROPERTY TAXES WITHIN EACH DISTRICT… HOLD ON………. WAIT A MINUTE

This is what we mean by systemic racism

It's worse than that. The poor people probably don't even register in the equation at all (and if they did it was probably just on an actuarial level). They reasoned that the real estate value of the buildings was lower than the cost involved in renovating to protect them (the buildings). This isn't fat cat villains twirling their mustaches, this is the operative logic of capital at work. Which is worse!

I'm hosting a small fundraiser in my shop to donate to the go fund me to help the people of Pajaro! Spreading this around is much appreciated! 🦦

Twitter thread by the Indiana Mutual Aid Coalition covering the incredible show of solidarity amongst the students of Purdue University who protested, disrupted, and drowned out a Michael Knowles speaking event from beginning to end

[ID: A tweet by @INMutualAid that reads “Yesterday Michael Knowles, best known for recently calling for the “eradication of trans people from public life” at the largest conservative convention in the US, allowed by Purdue’s administration to advocate trans genocide on campus. The student body responded in many ways.” followed by an emoji of a spool of thread. END ID]

i really want to emphasize the fact that many of these recent bills aimed at denying trans minors gender-affirming care have special exceptions built in to allow for nonessential surgeries on intersex children. they want to make sure doctors can continue pressuring parents into putting their intersex kids through procedures that have no evidence of benefits and are well known to cause harm (cw on these articles for discussions of intersex medical abuse/trauma).

these bills are not designed to protect children, they're designed to eradicate sex and gender diversity. they want to force both trans and intersex people into their binary little boxes and it will do immense harm to both groups.

Losing my shit about this article in which a transphobic Tory was so busy panicking about existing in the vicinity of a Trans that she almost certainly misheard "jeans" as "penis" and decided that not only was this a problem with the other woman, but also that the world must be informed of this pressing danger.

"a trans woman! I had to stand directly behind her....I thought, 'this is going well', I'm handling The Situation fine'..."

translated: I saw a tall woman with broad shoulders. How would I get out of this alive? I thought. she has a PENIS. PENIS PENIS PENIS. through some force of PENIS I mean will I managed to PENIS behave normally towards her. My hands were PENIS PENIS PENIS shaking as I tried to dry them. summoning up all my PENIS courage I said 'dryer's crap innit'. she turned to me and said " yeah I'm just goiPENIS PENIS PENIS"

It's been a week and I'm still shaking. This proves trans women are the problem and I'm not weird. I'm fine. It's fine. If you think about it I'm the hero hePENIS!!!!!

very this

As funny as this situation may seem, the woman being spoken about in the article, who thankfully has a platform to share her experience on, is quite shaken by this. This is not the first time she's been sexually harassed this way, either.

She talks about it in this stream if you have some time to watch it

sophie reads over the article at around 13:30 and starts her account of the event at 22:45

sophie from mars??? getting THIS kind of treatment. Fuck these people. god, fucking just. stop and get a LIFE. any life. any OTHER type of life. but this is not a life. transphobia is not a life at all. it is nothing, and they are nothing.

They will not get rid of us. You deserve to exist. We have each other, and we will persevere. Love, and cherish, yourself and your kin. So apparently last year the National Park Service in the US dropped an over 1200 page study of LGBTQ American History as part of their Who We Are program which includes studies on African-American history, Latino history, and Indigenous history.

Like. This is awesome. But also it feels very surreal that maybe one of the most comprehensive examinations of LGBTQ history in America (it covers sports! art! race! historical sites! health! cities!) was just casually done by the parks service

This is really great??

Let me explain what is happening here, because I don’t think that this post is very representative of why this matters.

The purpose of the theme studies, this one included, is to locate the physical remnants of the past, so that they can be properly preserved by governmental and nonprofit entities. They are not just descriptions of history, they are documents that can be used for grant work, for preventing places from being destroyed, or for promoting the restoration of those places. This theme study is a statement from the federal government that the preservation of these places is important, and that can be translated by the states into these places being legally required to be protected.

The theme studies are also really important because they recontextualized what it means to locate history in a place. This started before the LGBT theme study, there’s a lot of this in the Latino theme study, but they present a reconsideration of what you can call historic when the actions of a group left no physical traces on the spaces that they used. We are now seeing the possibility of considering places like cruising areas as historic properties because they represent the patterns of a culture.

This is the Park Service’s job. This is what you should be expecting from them. There are theme studies and special resource studies on dozens of things. A really important Civil Rights one dropped like last week. The Park Service is charged with running our national parks, sure, but the bulk of their work is like this. This is the type of shit that you can and should expect out of your National Park Service. Nobody else is gonna do it.
