Shooting the Moon makes me so crazy ok. Like it's a song about an impossible task and the monumental idiot who's decided to take it on--who's lied about being able to do it!!! And it's played over such a tender scene between J&B, as they go about fixing the bikes and really genuinely begin to bond. On a surface level it seems like it's out of place, but it's not!!
They're both there because they want impossible things from each other; Bella wants to feel better about Edward, which she can only get some semblance of through J, and Jacob wants Bella's genuine affection. They both know what the other wants, and at least on some level, they want to give it to each other.
The thing is, of course, that's impossible at that time. Jacob is not Edward, and at this point, Bella just isn't over him. They're trying though, they're trying so hard. It's just!!!!!!!! Sorry I let you down!!!!!! Sorry it wasn't quite true!!!!!!!!!
