assalamualaikum :)

Over the years, I developed a habit of subconsciously reciting واللہ المستعان whenever I faced something that disturbed my peace. But I was never aware of the background story of such powerful word until only recently when I heard about it in a lecture by on Surah Yousuf.

The word, Wallahul Mustaaan, as mentioned in the Quran, was said by Yaqoob عليه السلام when his sons came up with a false story of what happened to Yousuf عليه السلام. Yaqoob tried his best to find the truth but his sons teamed up to defend their heinous act and lies. Tired of the situation, Yaqoob asked Allah for Sabrun Jameel (beautiful patience) followed by Wallahul Mustaaan.

According to the commentators of the Quran, Wallahul Mustaan is used to call for Allaah’s help when you find yourself in impossible situations, when people team up against you to defend their lies, when people accuse you of something false, when you have given your best and desperately waiting for desired results, when you feel you’re in a situation where there’s no way out. It’s literally saying to Allaah that I have given my best and now I am taking a backseat, I want You to take charge of the driving seat and solve this matter with your Divine intervention.

And patience automatically becomes beautiful when with all your heart, mind, and soul you leave the matter on Allaah.

Sharing it with you all because I thought it might brighten someone’s day. Don’t worry if the situation seems impossible, remember you’re asking the One who just have to say ‘Kun’ and it is.

You are asking the One who calls Himself, Al-Fattah. Who creates a way out when there seems to be no way. So take a backseat and let Allaah do the rest.

Wallahul Mustaan - “Allaah is the one sought for help”

واللہ المستعان 🖤

Masya Allah this. #emulatingthishabit

If you're lucky enough to be loved by a poet or an artist, you'll be the someone in between the lines of their poems, those prose and metaphors, it's you my dear. Those subjects in their paintings, it's you. If you're lucky enough, you'll live eons within their writings and it can't be helped. Art itself is deep, depth is their genre, so is love.

What I feel for you can't be conveyed in phrasal combinations; It either screams out loud or stays painfully silent but I promise--it beats words. It beats worlds.

Sincerity has been known to change a person's course in life. It's been known to elevate prayers and deflect harm miraculously. It's been known to put you in the path of others and also put those you need on your path. It's been known to shake mountains so no obstacles stand in your way, and it's been known to shake trees so you always have provision. Sincerity is all you really need to make it through this world.

O Allah, grant us ikhlas, Aameen.

I don't pray at all, why doesn't Allah punish me? Oh my sister/brother, Allah has taken away the grace to bow to Him! Is there a worse punishment?

أنا لا أصلي على الإطلاق، لماذا لا يعاقبني الله؟ يا أختي/أخي ، لقد أزال الله النعمة لينحني له! هل هناك عقوبة أسوأ؟

I asked my sister today if marriage was worth it, the downfall, the thorns, the sacrifices was it all really worth it at the end. She looks at me for a moment before looking behind me at the bouquet of flowers I had placed on the table and said; “ We all need someone at the end of the day; to lean on, to talk to, to laugh with, love and grow up with. But mostly we all need someone who understands us. So yes when you find someone who loves you like you’re the most important equation in their life, and they understand you and give you their shoulder to lean on and who you can always cry to and talk to. It is. Marriage is worth every sacrifice you’ve got make when you marry the right one”

Letter from a mother to a daughter!

""My dear daughter, the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.

If when we talk, I repeat the same thing a thousand times, don’t interrupt to say: “You said the same thing a minute ago”... Just listen, please. Try to remember the times when you were little and I would read the same story night after night until you would fall

asleep.

When I don’t want to take a bath, don’t be mad and don’t embarrass me. Remember when I had to run after you making excuses and trying to get you to take a shower when you were just a girl?

When you see how ignorant I am when it comes to new technology, give me the time to learn and don’t look at me that way... remember, honey, I patiently taught you how to do many things like eating appropriately, getting dressed, combing your hair and dealing with life’s issues every day... the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.

If I occasionally lose track of what we’re talking about, give me the time to remember, and if I can’t, don’t be nervous, impatient or arrogant. Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you.

And when my old, tired legs don’t let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way that I offered mine to you when you first walked.

When those days come, don’t feel sad... just be with me, and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love.

I’ll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared. With a big smile and the huge love I’ve always had for you, I just want to say, I love you... my dear daughter."

You always had a glare my eyes could never miss. My soul has grown to master the secrets of your presence. My heart has always basked in the gardens of feelings you first introduced me to.

We've come a long way but our road is yet to unfold. Our paths are not paved with rose petals. Just like you I am, not a fan of the peaceful life, never have we craved the shaded living, nor have we tolerated the recumbent lifestyle.

We've always had that unspoken covenant, what is life if not risked for the sake of a greater purpose.

Dear soulmate, May we reach peace, the peace only you and I know.

A good Husband not only wipes her tears, but a great Husband listens to the story of why she's crying. He understand the depths of his Wife's soul, and he values the weight of deeds in her heart. A good Husband elevates his wife to be the best version of her self, and prays for her dreams to become a reality.. and a Good Wife gives her husband every reason to continue to love her unconditionally.

Remember, the best among you are those who are best to their wives.

Critize me, I dare you. Try to tell me what parts of me are beautiful or how to be better. Try to strip me off my individuality. Be as loud as you want to be. Because I am deaf to the hatred you speak. To the voice that you’ve learned from your insecurities. All I can hear you speak is that you’re somewhere inside begging to be set free. From what someone else has told you to be, and how you have fallen short repeatedly .

I’m sorry that expectations have made you so blind .

It has nothing to do with the capability of my living, but rather the capability of your eyes. So, the way you deal with your hurt is to put it on me for the sake of your heart, I hope it sets you free. Because your words say more about you, than they ever will about me .

Many of us know Surah Ad-Duha off by heart and have probably read its meaning many times as well, which seems quite straightforward. How many of us, though, have actually gone into the reason behind its revelation and derived the lessons and implications this surah has in our lives? This is a great text to save and make intention to learn the surah if you don’t know it already. *Surah Ad-Duha* was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (saw) at a time when he had not received any revelation for six months, not even in the form of a dream! The Prophet (saw) was in a very disturbed state of mind, feeling negative and depressed and believing that Allah was displeased with him, had forgotten him, and did not want him as a Nabi anymore.Don’t we have similar feelings in our lives? *Times when our level of imaan is low, our khushoo in salah wavers and we feel a drop in our connection with Allah?* We feel like our duas are not being answered, our salah is not having a positive impact on our hearts, and worst of all the feeling that we’re horrible human beings, that Allah doesn’t love us or doesn’t care about us anymore.*Surah Ad-Duha* was revealed to the Prophet (saw) to relieve him of these negative feelings and to give him hope, positivity, and the assurance that Allah is with him no matter what. From it we too can find peace, hope, and a renewed faith in Allah when we go through similar states of depression, sadness, and hopelessness. So what does this surah say?

*Wad duhaa* — By the morning brightness

This is the first thing you need to hear when you’re depressed: Wake up, look at the sunshine! Everything in life is not doom and gloom– you just have to look up!

*Wal laili iza sajaa* — And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,

Why is this aayah immediately talking about darkness? As a reminder to us that the night is meant to cover and give us comfort and rest. Generally when we’re depressed, we tend to get into a very bad sleep pattern by staying up at night and sleeping all day, thereby worsening our state of mind. This aayah reminds us to use the night as a comfort to ease our distress.

*Ma wad da’aka rabbuka wa ma qalaa* -Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].

This is a very powerful verse from Allah telling us that He doesn’t hate us and hasn’t forgotten us– reminding the depressed person that He is always by his or her side!

*Walal-aakhiratu khairul laka minal-oola* — And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

Many times when we’re depressed we think: Is this all my life is going to be? Is it never going to get better? This aayah serves as a perfect answer to those questions, reminding us that life in this world is temporary and that Aakhira is certainly a better, more permanent place for us than this world could ever be.This makes us look forward to attaining our place in Jannah and helps us look at any problems in our lives as temporary tests of our faith from Allah.

*Wa la sawfa y’uteeka rabbuka fatarda* — And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.

A promise from Allah that very soon he will give us a massive reward (Jannah) and we will be happy! Subhanallah!Isn’t this the best thing to hear when you’re depressed and fed up with this worldly life and the problems you’re facing?

*Alam ya jidka yateeman fa aawaa* — Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?

From this verse onwards, Allah gives us reason to believe His declarations and promises in the first half of the surah. Now many of us may think: how would this aayah about orphans relate to the majority of us? Think about it– weren’t there many times in your life when you were sick or lonely and felt like you had nobody who cared about you? Who was the only one by your side at that time? Allah! It was He who took care of you and guided you out of that stage in life.

*Wa wa jadaka daal lan fahada* — And He found you lost and guided [you].

How many of us, despite being born Muslims, have found ourselves misguided and straying away from Islam in the past? It was Allah who gave us that hidaya and brought us back to the straight path and to Him and made us practicing Muslims. Alhamdulillah!

*Wa wa jadaka ‘aa-ilan fa aghnaa* — And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.

Many of us have probably gone through many periods in our lives when we have been short of money and wealth. Now when we look back we realize that it was only Allah who gave us that rizq in some form and got us through those tough financial times. When a person is depressed, giving him or her examples of how Allah has helped them in the past will strengthen their conviction and belief in the promises Allah makes in this surah for their future.

*Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar* — So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].

This aayah is the ultimate antidote to depression!Depressed people are mostly consumed with their situation and feel that nobody could possibly be in a worse situation. This aayah reminds us to look at people who are in far worse situations than ourselves when we’re feeling hopeless and depressed — Look at the orphans, who have no family or loved ones and nobody to care for them. We have families and parents who love us, a roof over our heads and food on the table and we still think we’re in a bad situation? Subhanallah!

*Wa am mas saa-ila fala tanhar* — And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].

Another example is of the beggar — to once again remind us of the many material blessings that Allah has given us that we take for granted — food, clothing and shelter. How many of us have ever gone to sleep hungry? How many of us don’t have clothes to wear? Or don’t have a home to go to?These examples of the orphan and the beggar are ones we should constantly remind ourselves of to be thankful for the numerous blessings Allah has given us, get over our depression and feel connected to Allah again, out of gratitude.

*Wa amma bi ne’mati rabbika fahad dith* — But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].

This final aayah is about maintaining that renewed faith and bond with Allah — by pondering, glorifying and talking about the blessings of Allah! Either in terms of halaqas, discussions with family and friends or even da’wah! Dhikr, reading quran and listening to lectures are also great ways to keep the remembrance of Allah close to your heart!

So the next time you feel disconnected, disheartened or depressed with your level of Imaan and your connection with Allah — read Surah Ad Duha and ponder over its meanings — Inshallah it will restore your faith and increase your belief in the greatness of Allah.

I really needed to see this✨✨✨ I was feeling so low, came on tumblr and this was the first message I saw. Alhamdulilah ♥️♥️

When your mother was pregnant with you, she was losing her bone mass to build your skeleton. Your bone is literally your mother’s bone. Alhamdullilah.

The physiology of this works in the following way: calcium resorption increases in pregnant women so that calcium ions from the mother’s solid bones are put into the blood, passed through the placenta, and given to the fetus. Those calcium ions then get deposited into the developing skeleton of the fetus. Thus, you are literally built from your mother’s bones.

I've often contemplated the profound and vivid imagery of Surah ar-Rahman and wondered why its descriptions are so powerful.

I recently noticed the symmetric nature of many of its descriptions — images seem to occur in twos in Surah ar-Rahman, like mirror reflections. I've noticed a recurring pattern of pairs that runs throughout the surah.

Verse 17 mentions “two easts and two wests” — a double coupling, and a polarity of opposites overlap in this expression.

Verse 19 mentions “two bodies of flowing water” that do not mix. There's a parallel duality here, a contrast of pairs.

Verse 46 mentions “two gardens”

Verse 50 mentions “two springs”

Verse 52 mentions “two types of every fruit”

Verse 62 mentions “two other gardens”

Verse 66 again echoes Verse 50 in referring to “two springs”

Symmetry is a central concept in aesthetics and seems to have a profoundly pleasing effect on our minds because there appears to be some deep rooted connection between symmetry and beauty.

Surah ar-Rahman seems to take this symmetric aesthetic to its peak in reminding us of the favors of our Lord.

I wonder if its a coincidence that it is the 55th surah of the Qur'an, because 55 is, surprisingly enough, a symmetric number.

I want you all to know that an Arab Muslim from Tunis proposed the Theory of Evolution near 600 years before Charles Darwin even took his first breath. Don’t let them erase you.

his name is Ibn Khaldun

Also, it was not the apple falling from a tree that made Issac Newton “discover” gravity. He was reading the books of Ibn Al Haytham, an Arab Muslim from Iraq, who pioneered the scientific method, discovered gravity and wrote about the laws governing the movement of bodies (now known as Newtons three laws of motion) some 600 years before Newton existed. Without him, modern science as we know it wouldn’t exist. Read on him. His achievements are far greater than what I’ve just mentioned here.

I reblog this post every time I see it

We fucking replaced a Muslim scientist with an apple?

In the middle ages, THE place to go for an education was the middle East, or, failing that, Spain. The Muslim world didn’t have the same limits placed on scientific inquiry that the Christian world did, and since they were willing to look at more than just Aristotole and actually compare texts to the observable world, they had some incredible scientific and mathematical advancements. And street lights and toilets. I mean theories and algebra are great and all, but street lights and toilets. In the 12th century. Also medical advancements, and fewer rules against women studying. Hell, women *should* be the ones studying the female body, would you rather a woman see your female relatives, or some old man? Would you rather have someone who lives in the same kind of body, or one who has no first hand idea what the parts can do?

Europeans erased centuries of knowledge from the East because of fear. When we “rediscovered” it, we were still too egotistical to admit that non-whites could have been smarter, so we invented our own mythology.

Bring credit back where it’s due. Honor the true pioneers.
