ISSUE 27: DON’T WORRY

The ubiquitous symbol seen around the globe, the smiley face has had long lasting appeal since its 1963 inception by commercial artist Harvey Ball. It can be found everywhere from signs, products, and in the way we communicate (emojis), all the while remaining as the most commonly used symbol for happiness. The more you look for it, the more you'll see it

NOTICE/BEWARE

We collaborated on a one-off skateboard deck with our friend Makota, who does creative work under the name Playground Skateboards. We’ve worked together throughout this past winter as part of the Oasis Skateboard Factory alternative high school design program. This time we designed, pressed, shaped, and painted a skateboard for the Boards Of Education art show and auction which will run at the Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen Street West) in Toronto from April 4 - 12, with a closing party and live auction on Thursday, April 12th. Funds raised will go towards supporting the school and its program aiming to re-engage high school students and help them on the path to graduating and future success. Come out and support this event, and you can bid on this board and maybe even be lucky enough to skate away with this custom banana influenced board.
