Everything and the Kitchen Sink

no sideblogs, we chaotically cram our personal posts, aesthetic posts, and 800 hyperfixations into one blog like men

i'm losing my mind bc like for so long SO LONG we've been saying that his attitude is "you think i'm evil? i'll show you evil" and cc!dream just goes and is like "yeah exactly"

specially with it also being estabished that he did not intend to play c!dream as a villain from the beginning (an obvious thing to anyone who watched the l'manberg arc and didn't fall for the l'manberg propaganda -- which btw has been called into question lately also with both boundless sands and the las nevadas finale). the way he said that the change occurred exactly when we picked up on it occurring (the end of the pogtopia arc) because nobody was willing to play the bad guy, so he had to develop his character in that direction

he has his plan and he fights for it and he sacrifices everything for it, most of all himself, 'I'm not going to stop until you put me down' because it's either he wins or he dies, and so the prison is nothing the torture is nothing the trauma is nothing because the alternative is giving up and losing and what was the point, then, of all of it? what was the point of so much pain, caused and taken? what was the point of surviving so far in the role they made for him and losing everything if he doesnt fight to the end for bringing it all back?

people will say "don't take what c!dream is saying at face value he is manipulative !!! he's trying to paint himself as a victim !!!!!" then go ahead and take his taunting of c!tommy by saying he was "fun to mess with" completely at face value and as 100% proof that he enjoys hurting c!tommy and that's his primary reason for doing anything

One year ago today, Dream hunched in the corner of an obsidian box (a hell, not a prison) and he tried to say the words that would make them stop.

One year ago today, Dream bowed to Sam and begged for his life.

One year ago today, Dream pleaded with Quackity that he couldn’t answer his questions, please don’t.

One year ago today, Dream mumbled to his Warden about good guys, and bad guys, and good guys doing bad things. And Sam told Dream, “You deserve this. You’re the bad guy here. You’re lucky I don’t tell Quackity you’re here.”

Today, Dream reflects. Today, Dream terms himself a snake. An animal, kicked; a protector, threatened.

Today, he thinks, of himself: It must have had a reason.

Can we talk about the dehumanization in c!Dream’s monologue? He isn’t comparing himself to a person who was threatened, who was hurt, and whose family was in danger. He is comparing himself to an animal. He isn’t giving himself any kind of agency—only that of instinct.

And he is saying, look, even snakes are treated better than I am. Even animals are afforded the dignity of having their motives questioned.

“Unless you’re saying that I’m not a person.”

all c!dream needed was a kind word. a hand reaching out. just a little bit of care, a little bit of concern. and he never got it. not even from his closest friends. his family. his family who all saw how he changed and never thought to ask why. his family who are the reason for everything that he's ever done. if just one person had reached a hand out to him, would things have been different? would he be something other than completely, devastatingly alone? does it haunt him, that future that could have been? does he close his eyes and picture who he could have become if just one person had been kind?

hey guys do you think that c!dream wanted someone to ask him how is he and why does he do this, because they want to help him, not to have another reason to hate him and no one every fucking did?

Nooo because he changed so drastically and suddenly and he must've thought surely someone will ask me about this? Some of these people were his friends for YEARS, they were a family!! Surely someone will ask him what happened to you? why are you doing all of this?

But they never did and his best friends believed his enemies without question and one of his friends hated him so much he starved him and let him be tortured and his best friend, his brother vowed to hunt him down and kill him AND THEY NEVER ASKED!!

I fully understand that the preponderance of evidence is that George Lucas put absolutely zero thought into what Naboo’s culture was actually supposed to look like outside of what we see on screen, but as far as unintentionally effective worldbuilding goes, establishing that Naboo a. has a tradition of electing literal children as figurehead rulers of its planetary government, and b. apparently also has a tradition of assassinating these children with sufficient frequency that dressing up a bunch of other children as decoy targets has become standard operating procedure by the time of Padmé Amidala’s reign suggests that maybe the fact that this random backwater is a breeding ground for Sith Lords isn’t as unlikely as it initially appears.
