When the kids at the jedi academy are making fun of you but you just found out your grandfather is Darth Vader:

Did I ever mention I also love Star Wars? Haha So here’s something I’ve been just doing as a personal side project, that I call “Star What-Ifs.” It’s just for fun and has no ties to any official Star Wars projects. I do these for myself out of love and respect for the series, while listening to the soundtracks. Sometimes you need a productive way to nerd out!

For each character’s concept, I came up a scenario where they took a different path than what happens in the canon story and designed them based on that! You can read their prompts HERE. I’d like to keep doing more interpretations of past characters when I have free time (which is not a lot these days).

Please do not steal or claim this work as your own. I’d like to believe that’s a given, but it’s never the case. I’d like to keep doing more, so let me know what you all think of them! Thanks! Looking forward to more Star Wars!

Hrrrnnnn this is so damn cool!

Bride of the Monstrous: Meeting the Other in The Force Awakens

This is (my apologies in advance) an extremely long continuation of the analysis I presented in the Descent, in which I explain the next step of the archetypal Heroine’s Journey as presented in The Force Awakens.

Consider yourself warned: this presupposes a relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren which transcends the familial. Hic sunt leones.

So for anyone playing post-TLJ Reylo bingo with this 2016 meta:

  • Offers the heroine relative wealth, influence, and power…in exchange for isolating her from the world and her family
  • Is subdued/calmed in his rages by the presence of the heroine, which quickly return when she is absent
  • The primary conflict they face is a misunderstanding and/or ignorance to each other’s similarities. The monster seeks to make the heroine acknowledge these in the hopes that it will force her to accept him. Her rejection of him is significant because it reinforces his fears and beliefs that he is not worthy.
  • In their physical separation, each person is given knowledge of the other person’s past and what brought them to the point of confrontation. In knowing each other through words and stories told by others, they will be forced to rethink their first impressions and their reactions to one another.
  • Their second physical confrontation will include a reveal which will alter their dynamic forever, foreshadowing an inevitable change of heart.
  • There is the strong likelihood that at some point, communication between the two characters will manifest in a written/spoken/vision/dream form only—i.e. the “words from the darkness” which allows for a positive reconciliation without the danger of physical confrontation.

I love these two metas (this one and The Descent) so very much.

How to describe this meta?

Perhaps like an extraordinary lecture held in a dark, intimate classroom- the kind where you’re riveted by every word the professor says because you know they’re uncovering hidden truths that were always on the tip of your tongue but that you never had the words for.

God, this was incredible. Mandatory reading for Reylos, and really anyone who appreciates the ancients myths and stories we use to describe love, desire, womanhood, and other core aspects of the human experience.

Dad Ben carries his infant child like a south east asian mom. Also their one (1) rambunctious child.

I have a lot of headcanons and not a lot of time to draw everything in one sitting bear with me
