I can’t believe you’re back… I’m so… I’m… Okay so I just wanna confess while you were gone I wrote Swone a wiki and for some reason the Trivia section is the longest section in it 😭 Anyways, I’m so happy you’re back! So many storylines and so many missing characters… Ahhh I’m so excited! I’m guessing we’re on Act 3 now? Or some Epilogue?
I'm so glad you're excited! There's already been such a great response to even the unfinished posts it warms my lil heart...I have no idea what this unofficial act is - but I am interested in doing some kind of epilogue after the story is all posted.
YOU WROTE SWONE A WIKI??! ...........can i see it
Can I just say how much I love Swone!? His character is so interesting and there’s so much mystery and unanswered questions. I would love to get his whole story someday. Hope youre having a great day!
this ask was sent three whole years ago oh my gosh I'm sorry I didn't log in and see it sooner
honestly I've been kind of figuring out how to post the ending of swone's story
I had to finally perma-shelve him. i had so many ideas and plans and dramatic things in store, but as much as i love storytelling and goofing around with doodles, i learned over time that i have a very complicated relationship with drawing that has deep roots in my mental health. i've had to shelve a lot of projects in order to refocus and figure out how i can manage that. i'm rediscovering slowly what kind of an artist i am/want to be, and that meant putting aside the stress of updating what was basically a webcomic.
i still feel like so many things were left unanswered and a lot of people were so involved in swone's story, I do personally want to make some sort of update that will bring closure to that. i can't say it is a well-written ending, or even a well-written story overall. its easier to flash little hints of something in a dramatic way and have people draw their own conclusions about the story you're telling, so finally revealing everything behind the curtain is bound to be a little disappointing. but i hope i can do it in a way that people still find at least satisfactory and answers some burning questions.
in short, stay tuned, something will happen soon that will hopefully wrap it all up.
feeling shitty about the way this blog is archived/organized but don’t really wanna go thru it and tag everything because that would be a nightmare
BUT i do wanna maybe make a blog that’s like a gallery of some old gem onceler art that i find in the old halls of this here truffjam blog. when I get that set up I’ll post the link here so you can follow it if you want (will be queued after I get a bulk bunch of imgs from here to there)
also this blog isn’t going anywhere i just want an easier way to go thru onclir art when i get the hankering
Watched the Lorax late w the roomies for belated earth day and WAS REMINDED OF MY PAST ( in a good way )
oh man you guys out there hating the onceler fandom are sure Doing it...you're sure roasting us so hard guys...oh man your tags are real zingers...goddam...all my harmless onceler content is just being SKEWERED by ur wit man...oh geez i gotta tell all my best friends we should stop having a goodass time out here doing stuff that doesn't affect y'all in the slightest...pack it up guys..yea someone on tumblr dot com said it was weird ...shit...we got fuckin OWNED.....
for the record, you can never truly understand the onceler fandom unless you were actually in the onceler fandom
The Once-ler fandom is still alive.
Why did you think you had to do extra research? Being that you're a Once-ler wouldn't your future and your business be a matter of intuition?
H a haha. Funny thing about that. I had no goddamn clue what I was doing. I had some good help, though.
I did marketing research a few years after my factory started up, like an idiot. Running a business was so counter-intuitive to me that I didn’t know marketing was something important, I thought a terrific product just sold itself.
Turns out competing with hundreds of other oncelers is a tad more difficult than just waving it around saying it’s good. No matter how your thneed and your business is better than the other guy’s, the whole thneed market is almost exclusively based around consumer interest in Onceler personalities. Crazy, right? I thought so.
I guess, not as crazy as–
I dunno. Nevermind.
IN THE APRIL EDITION OF GLOVERS:
On The Town Review: ONLY THE BEST™
We sent our favorite married columnists, Chase and Ashlee Cooper, to the much-talked-about Thneed Resort, Spa & Casino for a night to report back to us.
Of course, everyone is aware of the popular household staple, the ever-versatile thneed. But as Ashlee and I sunk into an elegant jacuzzi, filled with truffula-oil-infused, warm, bubbling water, sipping truffula fruit champagne, wearing truffula-butter facial masks (yes, both of us)…we realized, with some shame: we have barely tapped into all that the Truffula tree has to offer.
Our two-day stay at the resort was not intended to be an indulgent vacation, but readers, it is impossible to step into those lavish rooms and not treat yourself to everything. The rooms glow with comfort, and the delicious aroma of, what else, crème de la papillon, floats throughout all the buildings.
We had a simple guest room, but we thought we had mistakenly booked a suite. The room was incredibly elegant and spacious, without sacrificing intimacy. Ashlee removed her shoes to feel the thneed carpeting as I donned the provided thneed robe. Cue the collective “Aaaaah!”
Dinner service was unlike anything we had ever experienced. We chose quiet room service dining, but there is a wide selection of areas where we could have taken our meal: including a restaurant with stage entertainment, a beautifully lit lounge, and an outdoor poolside bar and grille, to name a few.
Ashlee ordered the special for the evening, while I got the prime rib. Although the rib was devastatingly succulent, I will regret for the rest of my life not ordering the special that evening. Ashlee took one bite of the delectable truffula-flour linguini on her plate and instantly burst into tears. I’ve never seen that reaction from her over food. I asked her worriedly what the matter was, and she sobbed out that the dish was so good that now everything she eats afterwards will taste like dirt. She still glares at her meager lunches these days.
Around the grounds, there are so many things to amuse yourself with, it’s very easy to be overwhelmed. In addition to the usual outdoor activities and fitness regiments the more proactive of us choose to partake in, there is a list of performances enviable by even the most popular music festivals. The casino is brightly-lit and somehow inviting to a non-gambler like myself. The landscape is thoughtfully cared for, unusual for a onceler.
Which brings me to the real mystery. Ashlee and I had our eyes peeled the whole trip, but saw no sign of who might be running this place. We had an obligation to meet them and print their name, but we also just wanted to shake their hand for providing us with the most fufilling stay. We are currently pooling our resources to purchase a time share suite, without even being invasively advertised. The luxuries spoke louder than any obligatory seminar.
We are hoping someday soon there will be a public face for this marvelous and breathtaking resort. Ashlee and I are pleased to award Thneed Resort, Spa & Casino our rare FIVE STAR honor.
But general manager, hotel director, onceler…whichever you prefer to be called…who are you?
