I had to put Numchucks to sleep last week. His back legs gave out and he couldn’t walk. Besides his legs, he was still doing his thing. Eating, drinking, wheeking. I’m grateful I didn’t have to see him sickly.

Before he was put to sleep, I got to give him a feast of fruits and veggies he was never allowed to eat at home because of his digestive issues. He sat there and ate for 15 minutes straight! The vet kept coming in to check up and she had to go back into her office because he refused to let up, heehee! Here he is enjoying his treats~

He had a great run. 8 years old! The oldest pig my vet has ever seen! He was my buddy and I miss him so much. He was high maintenance but it was always worth it.

I appreciate all you guys who have been through his life journey! Your support has always meant a lot to me. So thank you so much from me and Numchucks ❤️

so, numchucks’s back legs have kind of given out. he’s struggling really hard to walk. I think I’m going to have to make a hard decision this week.

please keep him in your thoughts. <3

numchucks has narcolepsy he'll be eating and then suddenly fall asleep and after like 20 min I'll shake him until he wakes up and then he just goes back to eating like it never happened

we had a mouse in our apartment bc I left the patio door open and I managed to corral it into the bathroom. my roommate asked me how I couldn’t be terrified of it

I mean, when sometimes I can see this face in the middle of the night, a mouse is adorable and not scary at all LOL

nums is still doing really well, though sometimes he doesn’t bother wiping his nose and the eye gel I put on his face makes him look greasy and gross u_u

that was just a particularly unflattering pic though; most of the time he looks like this, so please don’t worry about him!

numchucks’s health is slowly deteriorating (last pic is him getting a humidifier treatment heehee!) but hey, he’s still very much alive and loving life!!

he’s only a few months away from being 8 years old. If he doesn’t last it’s okay, but it sure would be rad ❤️

my partner has two young pigs and they seem to eat for a couple minutes, then sleep a little while, then eat a couple minutes, etc

numchucks legit sleeps for HOURS and then eats NONSTOP for hours. he’s also mainly nocturnal. I like it though, the sound of him chewing nonstop for so long is so rhythmic and oddly soothing~

the issue he’s been having is he gets congestion in his nose so he’s sneezing and wiping his nose so much that he’s rubbing it raw. his paws were caked in mucus and blood this morning

but like besides the sneezing he’s eating, no weight loss, no indication of pain... the blood freaked me out though which is why I was certain I was going to have to put him to sleep. he was started on another antibiotic to see if it’ll help.

fun fact, my vet has been one for 15 years and said he’s the oldest guinea pig she’s ever seen!! hahaha!!!

so the vet is a little hopeful and wants to try a different antibiotic so we’re gonna try... we’ll see 😞

I’m taking numchucks to the vet because he is having issues with his nose and breathing and I dunno. I don’t think it’s going to be pleasant.

please keep us both in your thoughts.

hi I’m a little drunk but like... I can’t believe numchucks is still alive and as healthy as he was at 3 years old. like? how??? how do you have such a strong will to live, old man????? maybe its the food I have available 24/7. he just can’t give it up

keep fighting nummies!! so long as you’re willing to fight I’m willin to feed you and give you your medicine! <3
