I once stole. Pack of chewing gum and so my mother naturally did the whole "pretending to call the police" thing to teach me a lesson, but once I learned that she was lying I just made the assumption that police were made up to scare children out of stealing things, and ramped up my thefts to an alarming degree. I would walk around a shop with a bag putting snacks and drinks in before just walking out, I was never stopped, once I ever walked past some cops but again, I just assumed they were hired to act like cops. Wild time for me, this belief lasted until I was like, 12, but by that point damage had been done and I had to go to therapy to get out of the habit of just stealing things instead of buying things.
