This sounds like a shitpost but people should be allowed to be horny. As in, sexuality is just part of life for most people and there’s no reason for consensual sexual behavior to be punished. A celebrity getting “caught” at a sex club shouldn’t be a scandal. No one should be fired for having a fetlife profile outside of work. Nudes getting leaked shouldn’t be career-ending. Denying and hiding (consensual) sexual interests doesn’t make anyone more professional, it just makes everyone more repressed. And sterilizing ourselves to be better work drones isn’t productive, it’s just creepy. I’d rather my surgeon get absolutely railed on camera and come to work in a good mood, frankly.

Anonymous asked:

Jsyk, Sartre signed a petition calling for lowering the age of consent and had affairs with his much younger students. Would not recommend quoting him.

Strong 8 - light 9 /10 bait.

Things I liked:

  • The sheer deft subtlety of the ask itself
  • The frankly hilarious concept of "cancelling" Jean Paul Sartre
  • The implication that the persona of the asker is familiar with Sartre, Sartre's philosophical works, and this corner of his life, AND flattens it to this specific sort of twitter social justice language.
  • The bait itself almost reads like an inside joke to the author.
  • "Would not recommend quoting him." Magnificent finisher, does not moralize, but is DEEPLY passive aggressive.

What I didn't like

  • I'm normally a fan of "JSYK" it's one of those openers that's a solid choice for any occasion, but in this case, it felt like the wrong play.
  • Personally, I would have stuck to the utterly deadpan delivery. The body of the bait is strong enough to carry it.

MY RESPONSE HAD I TAKEN THE BAIT:

  • "Oh man, if you think that's bad, wait till you hear about [copy pasted list of every classical Greek philosopher]

The key to understanding Tumblr’s preoccupation with sad, pathetic men is that there are several distinct, only partially overlapping genres of sad and pathetic in play. “Clothes too big” pathetic is not the same as “inexplicably always damp” pathetic, and neither of these are the same as “makes you feel you need a tetanus shot just from looking at him” pathetic. A given character can of course fall into multiple categories, but they’re not interchangeable!

everything about dream is so funny. like this dude gets in trouble for goading his fans into doxxing ppl like once a month and nobody even cares bc he hasnt TECHNICALLY done anything wrong he can just pass the blame onto his army of 14 year olds. hes like a mafia boss if the mafia was fucking pathetic
