Idk how much I've 'grown' as a 'person' over the years however I HAVE gradually turned into increasingly cartoonish parodies of myself which has been a blast actually
We hit the county fair tonight! Got some fried junk food & rode a bunch of rides, just what I needed man.
I am convinced that the American education system is By Design broken in favor of richer neighborhoods, that the military sends recruiters into poorer schools knowing that the students do not have the same money or educational opportunities, and this is also why American healthcare is unlikely to move to single-payer.
A lot of kids I knew in school joined the military when I went to college. I worked three jobs and had to drop out because I couldn't keep up with the payments and I had developed an abscess tooth I had to prioritize because that shit can kill you. My high school peers got degrees and healthcare, despite me being on the dean's list and being a typical over-achiever until I got burned out. A lot of the people who didn't join the military are in jail now, mostly for drug-related charges.
My friends in college that were from wealthier neighborhoods didn't even know recruiters were allowed to go to high schools. They thought it was illegal.
I don't have like a Moral Point in here besides I think this stuff is on purpose and it's not going to change unless we recognize that it's by design and not an actual issue for politicians

I came from a school system with a sixty percent poverty rate. The military came to my class in the fourth grade
