TO CARE FOR THEM WHO SHALL HAVE BORNE ALL THEIR SCARS ON THE INSIDE, AND FOR THEIR ID AND TULPA (I'm 32, I'm still here, and this is my blog where I post fantasy, horror, anime, and video games.)

DC comics is doing one of those things where they douse their continuity in gasoline and torch it for the insurance money while shrieking about hypertime or some shit nobody cares about

They do this every 5 years now

One of the recent ones was specifically because they remembered they own Watchmen and Alan Moore doesn’t so they announced that the last five reboots were Dr Manhattan fucking with the timeline to learn about humanity then finally deciding to join them. More recently they were hinting that they might do the same with the Endless and with Netflix Sandman this might be the time to do it.

But man that’s going to create a weird universe. Isn’t Death going to get frustrated with people coming back to life all the time? Is Dr Manhattan going to meet them? Don’t some of the Lantern colors have embodiments that already handle the same stuff as the Endless (Orange Lantern versus Desire, for one)?

Most importantly though: does that mean both the Watchmen and Sandman are fair game for stuff like The Brave & The Bold, the Batman 66 and 89 comics, Superhero High?

Oof, a Lantern Corps/Endless merger is just the right combination of idiotic and genius to come true

I worked this out a while ago when I thought it was a joke:

OH FUCK

I’m surprised these scenes were allowed to be shown in Hammer and Bolter; not only does it show Space Marines losing VS Eldar but it also dares to demonstrate that an Eldar Exarch is stronger and faster than a Primaris Marine - which they would be.

Yesss these are the zesty pro-Eldar takes that I crave.

It’s actually cooler and better when 40k writers acknowledge that Astartes aren’t the bestest coolest snowflakes in every category possoble, and are actually big slabs of meat with strengths and weaknesses.

Lesovik

“The Leshy” © Toly Kivshar, accessed at his ArtStation page here

[I quite like the leshys in Pathfinder; little humanoid plant spirits are a good way to add some whimsy and wonder to low level games. But they’re a terrible representation of the actual folkloric leshy. Even the Witcher games have a more accurate leshy, and that’s something I can basically never say about the Witcher franchise. Fortunately, since the leshy is found under many different names in different Slavic cultures, I could find an alternate name easily.]

Lesovik CR 16 CN Fey This creature is humanoid, but made as much from wood and fungus as it is flesh and blood. Its skin is like bark, and hair, moss and lichen all grow from it, granting it a shaggy pelage and facial hair. They have antlers made of forking branches, hooves for feet, and clawed hands.

A lesovik is a fey creature that considers itself the lord of the forest in which it dwells. They watch over the animals and plants in their domain, and may be helpful or harmful to humanoids, as the whim suits them. Lesoviks are skilled shapechangers, and often take humanoid form to interact with travelers and ferret out their intentions. Those who are polite and respectful of the forest may receive aid in the form of pointing out game trails or helpful advice, but those who are rude or destructive will be led on a wild goose chase and lost in the woods, sometimes to fatal effect.

A lesovik can change its size, so it can become as tall as a tree or small enough to hide behind a blade of grass. If challenged to combat, they usually take their largest form. Any branch or stick held by a lesovik becomes a magical club, which they supplement with their natural attacks. All lesoviks are powerful spellcasters, capable of drawing from druid spells—no two lesoviks are likely to have the exact same tactics.

Lesoviks get along with other fey creatures in their forests, as long as they show proper respect. They consider treants too deliberate and stodgy, but do not try to drive them out. Most lesoviks love gambling, and when the lesoviks from multiple forests come together peacefully, it is usually to gossip and play cards. They may wager the plants and animals in their domains in these games; rapid shifts in animal distributions may be due to a lesovik paying off a debt. Not all interactions between lesoviks are peaceful, and unseasonable storms, spontaneous forest fires and outbreaks of plant diseases may be signs of a battle between lesoviks.

Lesoviks do not grant boons and banes the way some other fey creatures do; they instead use druidic magic to benefit or harm mortals respectively. Some druids were taught by the lesoviks; they tend to have the Plant or Weather domain rather than an animal companion. Lesoviks treat leshys with grandfatherly affection.

I feel a lot of people have moral systems that are completely detached from centering avoiding real harm to real people and are mostly based on completely arbitrary obsessions with symbolic and abstract "wrongs" and gut feelings, and then they join progressive politics and make an absolute fucking mess out of everything with their weird little moralist obsessions that actually don't help improve anybody's life or serve any purpose besides making a few people feel morally superior. This is why for example anti-kink politics went from having a pretense of being about protecting vulnerable women from abusive men to just being very blatantly "if you have ever done kink at all you're ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew".

I think if you cannot describe the mechanism through which an action brings harm to real people then you probably don't have an actual argument as to why you consider the action in question to be immoral, and even if you can, you might find some people don't agree with your definition of harm or find the evidence for the existence of this harm mechanism to be lacking. Secular morality is a lot more complex than a lot of angry social media users might want you to believe it is.
