Beneath the earth, we venture,
not knowing what we may find.
Will the dungeon lead us to hell,
where angels fear to dwell?
And therein lies a maiden.
Her lips are ruby red.
Her eyelids flutter open,
Even though she’s quite dead.

THE DEAD GAME
It’s a magical night for a party.
Beautiful couples dance
between the glass statues.
Fancy gowns drape the perfect bodies.
The glasshouse shimmers in the moonlight.
The party is perfect.
A little too perfect.
THE DEAD GAME
(via FIRST KISS)
PREY FOR THE DEAD
If you dare step inside,
there’ll be nowhere to hide.
A new dimension you’ll cross
on the back of a black horse.
Are you ready for this?
Lean in for my first kiss.
PREY FOR THE DEAD
(via SILENCE REIGNS SUPREME)
Silence reigns supreme.
The sun hides its face.
Palm trees shake their leaves.
Winds quicken their pace.
The hotel stands deserted.
Flapping sounds fill the air.
Dark shadows join the fray
Beneath his icy stare.

A more beautiful place cannot be,
It faces the waves of the dark sea.
White sand and quiet beaches galore,
You can’t ask for anything more.
Life is perfect as can be.
Come and frolic with me.
Tourists visit from far and wide.
Oasis is Florida’s pride.
Beware when The Dead descend.
We can no longer pretend
This is a perfect place to be
As The Dead rise up from the sea.
Darkness brings flying creatures and death.
Beware that this won’t be your last breath.

(via THE DEAD AND GONE)
I should have listened to my heart’s song, Listened to reason and right from wrong. I’m now trapped in this horror of despair, Waiting for death to take me in its arms. The shadows are growing larger, Surrounding me from all sides. There’s nowhere to run or hide; I will stand strong against the tide. He’s here. I can feel him. He’s come back for me. No one is safe from his wrath. The cold wraps around my body. My hair drips icicles down my neck. I shiver in dread of my future. My future as queen of The Dead. THE DEAD GAME
(via SING ME A SONG)
Sing me a song.
Write me a melody.
Stroke the keys.
Massage the ivories.
Raise your voice high
So I can hear your words.
Words of hope and loss.
Sing them loud and clear.
I close my eyes.
I can hear your words.
I see your fingers
Stroking the keys.
The words take flight.
They reverberate through time.
They leave your lips
To land on mine.
A sweet melody
To soothe my advancing years.
A pretty song
To fill my empty soul.
(via PLAY ME A SONG)
“Self Portrait with a Harp” (1791) (detail) by Rose-Adélaïde Ducreux (1761-1802).
Play me a song.
Don’t get me wrong.
I love your singing voice,
But the harp is my choice.
The music soothes my sad soul
From the day taking its toll.
I need the music today.
Please, sit for me and play.
(via FROM THE DEEP)
They come from the deep.
They come when you sleep.
On waves of ice and stone,
They’ll burn you to the bone.
Fire burns hot on the ice
As demons cut a deep slice.
Stay far from the shore,
Or they’ll search for more.

A house dark and bleak,
I can’t even speak.
Dark shadows glare at me,
Where clear windows should be.
Dare I venture inside?
I will swallow my pride.
I will cross the threshold,
Without being so bold.
A secret party is held inside.
Should I run or maybe hide?
Who’s the host of this feast,
Man or dangerous beast?

(via MURDERS AND LOVERS)
Read a book by the fire.
The pages will shine brighter.
I don’t need to fight the snowdrifts.
I’ll stay inside with the misfits.
The ones who prefer the books
that grab you with their hooks.
The fire is getting low
as the strong winds begin to blow.
I snuggle farther beneath the covers
as I read about murders and lovers.
(via I AM FREE)
Floating in the dark of night
After the birds take flight.
Out in the sea, I drift alone,
Where no one else dares to roam.
Tears fall upon my face
As they step up their pace.
Flooded with grief and despair.
I free my braid and cut chunks of hair.
I don’t need to be a beauty anymore.
He’s walked out of the proverbial door.
I am free to drift with the night or
Visit the depths of the ocean floor.
No one searches for me.
I take a step, I’m free.
(via CAN I ESCAPE END HOUSE?)
The night is here
and much too soon.
Darkness descends
with the full moon.
I shiver from the cold
as a strong wind whips past.
The moon hovers closer.
I hope this doesn’t last.
Dark shadows gather.
Trees fade in the mist.
Night has won again.
I can’t handle this.
The moon’s glare defeats me.
I retreat to my lair.
With the wind at my back,
I must escape from here.
THE DEAD GAME
(via LOST)
Night turns into day,
Day turns into night.
I feel myself sway,
As I hold onto the light.
The night numbs me,
Frighteningly cold.
The days rush by
As I grow old.
I prefer the day
When the sun shines.
The night can be fey,
Dark streaking the pines.
Night turns into day.
Day turns into night.
Days become gray,
I have no more
strength to fight.

THE DEAD BY THE SEA
Come with me to the pool by the sea. Oasis is the best place to be. Relax by the pool or sit by the bar. Tourists visit this place from near and far.
The sky turns cloudy and dark. I see shadows by the park. What’s that standing behind you? It’s not one shadow but two.
Shadows come ashore. I won’t wait for more. Our destiny seems to be in this book. I’m leaving now without a second look.

(via ALIVE AT NIGHT)
The wood floor creaks.
I slowly turn around.
Where are The Dead freaks?
I hear no other sound.
The lights flicker.
Can the rumors be true?
I feel sicker.
The Dead will take me too.
I can see their faces.
Dark eyes stare at me.
They take their places.
I’ll never be free.
I run through the hall,
But I’m running in place.
I give up and fall.
A grin covers his face.
He leers at me.
Eyes glowing bright red.
A sight to see.
I flee toward my bed.
He lifts me in his arms.
We fly into the dark night.
I won’t fall for his charms.
The Dead come alive at night.
THE DEAD GAME
(via WITHOUT FEAR)
I see him in my mind’s eye.
He is dead, and so am I.
He floats alone in the ocean.
We have taken the dark potion.
He drifts near,
Without fear.
I long to touch his face,
Not of the human race.
My spirit glides free.
And soon so shall he.

THE DEAD GAME
(via A GLOW IN THE NIGHT)
A glow in the night
will lead me astray
from the moon’s light
to where I can’t say.
Bloody prints mark the way
to a small town on the shore.
At the end of the day,
we are at the devil’s door.
Time has no meaning or reason.
You can travel forward or back.
Death will follow with each season.
It is past time for me to pack.
