Someone was in this quiet and somewhat abandoned chapel.

How odd. She had thought she was the only one. The mortal was about to demolish the whole area and turn it into a grand shopping mall soon. She found this very untuned piano by chance and had been here to play each night, whenever Ben was busy doing his radio thing and Armand or Marius was once again away. It took her some hours to tune it back (like it’s hard?) to the perfect condition, but after that her communication with this instrument had been nothing short of amazing.

She practically adored the unique flow between her and piano. It was the only thing that was constant in her life, her sanctuary, be it mortal or immortal.

Yet tonight…

She paused, and tilted her head with a frown.

Who might this be?

Denis had been wandering, as had become his habit since coming to New York. It was never really night here, in this city of endless electricity and the continual press of people on the sidewalks, and Denis would probably have come to hate it even if he had found everything here that he had hoped he might.

Like a prison, this grid of streets and towering buildings, but at least the stars couldn’t see him, down here among the traffic and the night-time crowds. So with no-one he knew and nowhere to go he had fallen back on his old ways, and just walked, feeding when the need or the mood took him, but otherwise just drifting aimlessly.

He’d come upon the tumble-down chapel purely by chance, and probably would not have given it a passing glance were it not for the music. He had spent too long in old European cities after the war to be seduced by dereliction, and one old neglected building was very much like another to him. That first night he had just stayed in the street, listening, wondering who it could be that could play like this, and the next night he had returned, almost without meaning to, almost pretending that he wasn’t hoping to hear it again. Yet there it had been, spilling out into the street, notes hanging in the night air like the rain before it falls.

The next night he had headed straight for the chapel, certain that he would find only cobwebs, tumbled pews, rain-stained pages of the hymnals fingered by the breeze. Almost anxious in case there was only silence waiting for him. Half way up the steps with his heart in his mouth and the music in his ears.

“Your pardon,” he said, when the sounds finally died away. “Forgive me for intruding. I could not help…”

Faint brow drew into a frown as she, delicate blonde sat before the somewhat battered piano, looked at the stranger over her shoulder. This one was a fellow immortal. The potent blood roamed inside her granted her certain privilege, enabled her to detect the presence. Yet that was all there was. After all, she was relatively young compared to majority of the others. To them, appearance was no longer matter. A young boy could go as old as several hundreds in reality.

So she could not read his thoughts, not even surface thoughts. No surprise there.

“...............Am I disturbing you?” She asked in a quiet tone after some lengthy silence. She would ask Ben or Marius to move this to somewhere else. They would no doubt teasing her. It wasn’t like she need this. She had one sitting in her loft already. But she knew a blooddrinker value their rest time. If there was one here resting, she would much prefer to move.

Moonlight spread across the entire living room of the loft through the large floor to ceiling iron panel windows, bathing everything in white. Sybelle was playing her piano. Her porcelain supple fingers moved across the lacquered black and white keys in smooth grace. Blonde hair pulled back to a bun on the top of her head, her angelic profile glowed in the silvery light. Armand was out tonight and so was Benji. Rather unusual considered the hardly left her alone since their fateful meeting so long ago. Perhaps they believed she was feeling better. Perhaps they trusted the piano at long last. What was not to trust? The instrument had been her savor since the day she mourned for her parents. It was how it had been. Eyes half closed and long lashes fluttered somewhat, she let herself immersed in the soothing notes.

Marius moved a chair close to where Sybelle sat on her bench, immersed in music.  She perhaps did not notice him, but maybe she rather preferred to finish her song before acknowledging him.  Whatever the case, it was Marius’ pleasure to join her and wait.  Sometimes the music made him think of Pandora, who used to often fill lonely nights with the sounds of piano chords.  She was not a master of the instrument, not like Sybelle who was made to play.  And Marius found he liked these sad recollections, and loved Sybelle more that she made it possible.  When her song finished, he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder to get her attention.  “Darling,” he murmured into air that resonated the glassy notes of fading piano keys. “As always, the loveliest part of my night.”

No, Sybelle did not notice Marius’ presence until almost the end of her playing. Her power, though inherited from the potency of the very elder who was closed to her, had not developed fully. At only two to three decades old, she could easily read thoughts of mortals, or maybe surface once of a handful of young vampires. But to sense another older one, especially her own maker, tsk, she seriously doubted anyone could do that in history.

Regardless, she enjoyed his visit.

Small and delicate face turned to the direction of another blooddrinker ever so slightly. Her large eyes closed some with joy and delight beaming out of their swirling depth. Lips curled up, she murmured his name as if she was speaking to her piano: "Marius, it is good to see you."

As a fledgling of Marius, One of the children of Millennia, the immortal blood roamed inside Sybelle was quite potent. Therefore several Vampire Power ordinary Immortal wouldn’t developed until much later had began to show signs on the young blonde. She was able to vaguely sense the presence of another vampire, sometimes even read the surface thoughts. The other blood drinker was immediately registered in her head. Her large eyes opened abruptly and drifted toward the direction.
Who was that? Fighting every senses to recoil and run, she tilted her head and frowned at the other one.

Eyes – there were eyes on her now. Her own snapped open and she felt a flush of embarrassment rush across her cheeks.

“Sorry. I, uh-” Izzy tried to string a sentence together to explain why she was standing there, but there was no reason. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to sneak. I live in the building.” The pointed down to the floor of the roof. “Third floor.”

This young woman, this beautiful young woman, was more of a contradiction than any immortal she’d ever come across. She felt ancient, but she didn’t feel old in years.  “I come up here sometimes. Izzy. I mean, I’m Izzy.” Why was it so hard to make herself make sense? “Sorry. I’ll go.”

Blue eyes did not blink as Sybelle carried on staring at the other Immortal curiously. New York City was big. There were quite a large number of her lot residing here. No, not all of them were friendly. A few of them would blab like this one, either. Actually, aside from Benji, no one else she knew was even remotely talkative.

“....I should be the one who leave,” She slowly opened her mouth. She meant it. This area wasn’t her usual hangout: “...I am Sybelle.”

Well, this is new.
Sound of crisp, clearing tone of piano drifted into her ears through the headphones. She frowned ever so slightly and tilted her head. She had never heard of this one before. The channel was recommended to her by Benji, who now usually spent his nights at the local ratio station. She liked sound of this. Maybe she would go back to try it on her instrument later. Now, sitting on the ledge of a tall building, she would much like to stay a little longer. It was a lovely night.
Any who knows, there might be others.

“Oh!” Izzy covered her mouth when the small sound snuck out. She hadn’t expected another immortal; then again, she never did. Maybe she wasn’t noticed? If she was human, she wouldn’t have been able to hear the subtle music coming from the headphones. It was such a beautiful sound and her heartbeat along with the melody. Lost in the tune, she forgot that she was going to get off the roof and leave the other alone – instead, she was just standing there with closed eyes looking overly content with a grin on her face.

//let me know if you want to rp or stuff. sybelle is very quiet and very introvert so it will require some warmup.

ooc: of course! I’d love to. I’m on a mini work-enforced hiatus at the moment, but I’m hoping to be around again soon

//It’s okay. I will think of something and leave it here with your tag. Reply any time.  :)
