My babies \o/
In attempts to get Teka to stop chewing at my books, I put on some dance music.
Poor buddy’s confused because it wants to eat book, but HAS to dance
Classic
“Hey honey, when did we install a gargoyle on top of the window shades?”
Hi there! I am looking to get a cockatiel. Your Teka seems very happy, and I was wondering what sort of toy you would recommend for birds to chew on and keep their beak from overgrowing. I don't know if it's the same for conures and cockatiels, but any advice helps.
Sorry for the late replies!
Regardless of chewing toys, you will still need to take your bird to the vet for a beak trim. Teka loves chewing on calcium perches, small wooden toys, cardboard. I had an empty cardboard box that carry pop cans and put that on top of her cage and she even loved that! Here’s a couple of her faves though:
I’ve found Teka always needs beak trims. Her beak grows really fast and the way she chews, it ends up becoming a fine point. Even when she chews her toys and calcium perches. She’s just a little weirdo :P

so sun conures can lay unfertilized eggs like hens can? or do you expect them to hatch?
Sorry for the late replies!
All birds can lay unfertilized eggs. Teka doesn’t have a partner so they will never hatch :)
In a few months I'll be moving out of my college dorm and hopefully by this year or next year I'll be adopting a bird! Do you have tips for getting birds used to new environments/people?
Sorry for the late replies!
Patience and time. No sudden sounds or movements. Just be gentle and give them time. Use treats as motivators to get them out of the cage, and give lots of praise. When meeting new people, remind them not to flail their hands when they talk because that can be scary. If you are adopting, I’m sure the sanctuary will give you insights on the bird you adopt :)

In most of the videos I see of Teka she's usually doing her quiet chatter and beak grinding, does she do the typical Sun Scream very often? She seems very well behaved!
I mean she is pretty well behaved, but yes she does do the sun conure scream. She does this really annoying scream when I’m cleaning the apartment because god forbid she has to sit on her cage while I clean - the cruelty! And sometimes she screams because she just needs to I guess haha
