Zuo Ran’s Love Theme

This is going to bother me until I get it off my chest, especially when I have negative expectations of this being conveyed in any of the localizations.

But Zuo Ran says a line during Chapter 1 of the main story that is crucial to his character and his relationship with the heroine. It’s also repeated in his Character PV.

SPOILERS for Chapter 1 of the main story and touches upon Zuo Ran’s character, and will show images from [SSR One Step Away] and [SSR Two Inseparable Hearts].

So I Figured Out Sandalphon’s Actual Height...

And boy, is he S M O L.

Lemme give some background on this. I showed a pic of Sandy to a friend of mine - that is, @cephalon-jaunde - as part of my efforts to indoctrinate her into Granblue Fantasy. Her first response was, “He’s a smol bean!” I then told her that his canon height is 174 cm., but that his REAL height could actually be even shorter since his heels might’ve been included in the 174 cm. measurement.

We both began to wonder just how MUCH shorter. Thus began my quest to uncover the truth via scales. And voila, I’ve found Sandy’s “true” height: 165.442 cm. The proof is as follows.

First off, here’s the art of Sandy I used as a reference, since it’s the only official one I found where he’s standing relatively straight:

I measured the amount of pixels from the bottom of his right shoe to the top of his head, which came out to be 284 pixels. That divided by 174 cm. gives a ratio of 1.632/1. 

I then measured the approximate height of his heel, which was 14 pixels, and divided that by the 1.632 ratio I got before. The result was 8.577, AKA he’s 8.577 cm. shorter than the official measurement would lead you to believe. And 174 minus 8.577 gives 165.422 cm. as his “real” height.

Why do I have reason to believe that his official height includes his heels? Just take a look at the source artwork for the image I provided above:

Cain, pictured to his right, is canonically 175 cm. tall, and isn’t wearing heels in this image. And he’s STILL visibly slightly taller than Sandalphon, who is wearing heels. Thus, it’s reasonable to assume that without those heels, Sandy would be pictured as being even shorter.

And why’d I go to all this effort for a Tumblr shitpost, you might ask?
