Just testing with line patterns in photoshop
So I never loved the cannon that Alfred is an Ex MI-5 I just like that he is a normal guy whose family has worked in service and just carried on his family tradition and became a footman then got promoted to valet then to bulter.
Now I've been playing around in my head about how he comes to work at Wayne Manor. One where he originally worked for the Kane's (Martha's Family) and the other he worked at Wayne's summer home. One where he doesn't know either Martha or Thoams and just gets hired by a third party.
Anyway when Thomas and Martha get married and move into the Wayne Manor Alfred is not initially working there and joins the staff later (sometime after Bruce is born) he's not the head bulter he's a replacement footman or on-call carter waiter. But he keeps running to Bruce when he's on his own (doing an errun or for a smoke break seen here) And is always catching the boy doing something odd.
So they build this little bond on these little moments and Bruce grows to attach to Alfred which is why later on Alfred becomes Bruce's personal servant.
Also, there's no smoking allowed in Martha's garden so that's what Bruce is blackmailing him with.
no, i think i first found out about your work because i was super into webcomics, and i remember liking the vampire comic you used to do. youd post horatio stuff too so i just got into it that way. anyways, i love your art tons, keep being awesome : D
Oh wow! You read my webcomic! That was so long ago! Back when I use to do line art lol. You're the realist of the real ones my friend.
when i was a kid i was ,like, obsessed with your horatio hornblower comics. never even read the books. i remember one time me and my family were about to go on a trip, where we wouldn't have internet connection. i would like obsessively save your artwork on my dads computer so i'd be able to look at it when we got there. ive loved your art for years, and i dont think id be an artist now without it
Wait did you at least watch the mini-series? Because I'm really curious how you even stumbled on the hornblower tag lol. And I just want to say this ask is just so damn heartwarming you saved my art so you could look at it! Adorable. I'm also so happy to hear that I played a very small part in you taking up art!
i followed you a very long time ago for hetalia. i have since left behind my all-consuming hetalia phase but your superbat and clois art singlehandedly convinced me that clark kent is a character worth looking into. a few months later and DC is becoming my new obsession haha, good job
your art always has such character and life to it which always draws me in <3
Awwww this really warms my heart to read! I'm so happy to hear that it was me to bring you into the fold! Clark Kent is a sweetie and needs more fans (Listen Batman has been DC #1 character for the last few decades time and its time for our Boy Clark to take it back lol)
Hello! I had a question: do you sell prints of your art? If so, where do you do so?
So I do not have a store but I'm able to print high-quality pieces so if you let me know which pieces you'd like I can let you if I can make a print (Some of my art were saved in low res so they're not suitable for printing)
Your dc drawings are so adorable!!!! I want to save them all omg, where do I donate so you can make more 😩
Aw thank you :) I have Kofi listed on my bio but tipping me at this time won't allow me to make more fan content but I'm very flattered that you would like to see more of my fanwork.
More young Bruce and Alfred and the battle of wills. Also, the book Bruce is reading is Ax Murders I was too lazy to fix it.
Continuation from this comic
I'm trying to figure out Theo's villain look and then got sidetracked with lighting
Can you draw or talk more about your hero and villain ocs? Like how they met...they are cute.
I don't know how they met yet even tho I made up these OCs last year I have not developed them that much lol.
I can tell you Theo's (villain) origin story. Basically, he was just the cliché superhero's love interest that is constantly stood up, and neglected due to the world crisis that his (Kato) boyfriend/future husband had to deal with. So when Kato finally reveals to Theo that he's a superhero. Angry, jealous, and worried, Theo decides that becoming a super villain to dissuade his boyfriend's superhero career is a great way to spend more time with each other.
More train oc doodles and would you look at that I finally got around to figuring out their names lol
Messy Train doodle of that OC that I still don't have a name for. This is during Villian's rise to being a super villain and can't quite break the glass ceiling of villian-dom because his big shot hero fiancee won't fight him. Giving Villian a really bad street cred among the other villains.
So we all know that trope where batman hates it when people save him so I like the idea that Clark actually does as Bruce wishes resulting in him getting pumped full of krypto lead because he cares :)
Just drawing my OCs while I waited for my laundry to finish.
Renaissance-inspired Riyria typography I'm currently working on and the process I went through to get to his current step.
Hi, I have very much been in love with your thumbnails since you first posted them and I was just wondering how you learned to do them? Did you go to art school? Are you self taught? Either way, I just need you to know that I love you and you make my day whenever you post a new comic or drawing💙
I've been doing short little gag comics since I was 10. Tho I can't really say I'm self taught beucase I don't remmber "studying" any techquines or how certain comics work. I'm not a actively curious person and I have a adversion to learning, true learning not just listening to nonfiction book in the background (becuase I do, do that) I mainly learn out of necessity and by a slow osmosis. (Which is while I will always be an artist just not a great artist lol) And I'm sure over the many years I've absorbed information subconsciously by sheer exposure and I remmber reading some internet tutorial about how to do bubble placement but I can't really tell you how I learned.
What I can tell you is how I think when I make one.
So when I think of comic it's not in a comic froum. It's just events playing out In my minds eye like on a TV show like Arrested Development. Simple directing no crazy angles, or flashy editing.
I then wirte the script
I wirte the dialogue And rough non verbal discrption first becuase that's basically all my comics are about people talking with the occasional reaction shot.
Then I read that dialogue and find the natural breaks and emphasizesiums. And group those dialogues together. This is mainly intuation, and how you see it in your minds eye. This is also subject to change.
Then I get into the real meat of discription where I on good days I stretch my creative mussles and think out of my comfort zone With interesting angles, poses, visual sotry telling background cues; and on most days I just elaborate on basic detials like vague setting , who's in the background , forgrond, thier expressions, ect.
And during this part you might find yourself reworking your groups these groups become our pannles and by the end you Have a working script :)
Then I try to make those pannles fit on to a page it like makeing a puzzle fit that's what the thumbnailing is. I do it in penical first or I'll make a few small ones like before on a good day I'll flex my comic skills I'll make 3-4 different version of the same page to branch out of my normal patterns which is good practice. I don't always do it becuase the idea in my head feels so right even if it is repetive and unimaginative I just can't deviate.
I sometimes make a larger version of my smaller scribble ( Like I posted) with various colors and bubble placement becuase it's closer to the right size ( the smaller version I normally draw on sticky notes and they are too wide and I try to make them more vertical. and its for motivation I find if I have a nicer thumbnail to look at the more likely I will draw that comic…. Also I have a lot of empty journals laying around the house so . . . Lol
I hope this super long reply helped.
I loved your art with Jason, you draw him so cute! Idk how to ask without sounding rude so I do apologize in advance but it's a genuine question not meant as hate, but may I ask why you chose Jason to be the kid with a c+? Since he is historically a top student with straight A grades. Thank you! I love your art :)
No offense taken :) Honestly, I didn't know that Jason was a good student. I was always under the impression that Jason was smart but not in the ways that are easily tested for. Like being a good writer or knowing probability but only in the context of gambling things like that. I also liked the idea that Dick had better grades than Jason and he has a complex on wanting to be a good student but keeps falling short making him feel like he shouldn't be the next Robin.
I don't know a lot of cannon about the bat family I just wanted to draw Jason because you don't see him that often with Clark.
