Your daily dose of Star Wars nonsense (or, as you might prefer to consider it, meta and analysis).

In this episode, we start off with our media recommendations (Star Wars stuff starts around 30 minutes in)!

Rachael’s recommendations

  1. Jacquot de Nantes, dir. Agnes Varda
  2. A Man Escaped, dir. Robert Bresson
  3. Braid, dir. Mitzi Peirone
  4. The Man Who Haunted Himself, dir. Basil Dearden
  5. Xanadu, dir. Robert Greenwald

Kirsty’s recommendations:

  1. Mississippi Masala, dir. Mira Nair
  2. The Before Trilogy, dir. Richard Linklater
  3. The Last Movie Stars, dir. Ethan Hawke
  4. Woman Running In The mountains, by Yuko Tsushima (translated by Geraldine Harcourt)

We then move on to discuss the following:

1. Andor anticipation! We discuss the release schedule, the recent trailer and an early reaction to the first four episodes of the show

2. Light and Magic on Disney Plus

3. Lego Star Wars: Summer Vacation on Disney Plus

4. Brotherhood by Mike Chen

5. Amandla Stenberg confirmed to star in 'The Acolyte'

6. Oscar Isaac changes his tune on returning to Star Wars (or does he?)

We round the episode off with a quick spoiler segment (listen out for the spoiler siren!) where we discuss some Reddit rumours regarding the upcoming Disney Plus series 'The Acolyte'. These spoilers are mostly concerned with the premise and set-up of the show, but may be more spoiler-y than we currently appreciate. As a result, proceed with caution!

Scavenger's Hoard has a new online home!

We're now hosted on anchor.fm, but you should still be able to find us on all the usual podcasting platforms. I've set up a Linktree page for us that lists some of the places where you can find us (more to come!).

The one exception is that future episodes will no longer appear on SoundCloud (this is because that platform does not support external RSS feeds).

We're going to be on summer break for the next couple of weeks, but the plan is to return with a new episode in August or September. We're looking forward to watching #Andor and sharing our thoughts with you!

In this episode, we discuss the season finale of Obi-Wan Kenobi, spanning the lows and the highs. We talk about everything from the epic Vader vs Kenobi fight, through to Beru and Owen defending their home and Reva finding redemption.

We also talk about our thoughts on a potential sequel series or a season two, and what we'd like to see next for Kenobi and Reva.

Note that after this episode, our plan is to move podcast hosts - we are hoping to move from SoundCloud to Anchor. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @ScavengersHoard for updates on the progress of this.

In this episode, we dedicate the discussion to the latest two episodes of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi': episode four, which concerns the rescue of Leia from the Inquisitors' fortress; and episode five, where Obi-Wan and the members of the Path are tracked to Jabiim and various character-related bombshells are dropped.

Join us for some back-seat script-writing, Anakin stanning and preliminary Beru excitement.

In this episode, we begin by condemning the racist abuse being targeted at 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' actress Moses Ingram. We also share our thoughts on the unfortunate pattern this represents in the fandom's treatment of POC.

We then move on to share our spoiler-filled thoughts on episode 3 of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' - we talk about the amazing performance of Leia actress Vivien Lyra Blair, and the touching dialogue exchanges between her and Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan. We also share our conflicted feelings on how Vader is used in the episode.

In this episode, we begin with a news section where we discuss the big reveals from Vanity Fair and Celebration regarding the upcoming Star Wars TV projects - including Andor, Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte. We also discuss Kathleen Kennedy’s comments on recasting actors, and the tidbits that have been given about the future of Star Wars at the cinema.

We then move on to share our thoughts on the first two episodes of the new Disney Plus series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ - we go into full spoilers from the start of the discussion (about 50 minutes into the recording), sharing our thoughts on Ewan McGregor’s performance, the inclusion of a little Leia Organa and the tortured past of new Moses Ingram’s Reva. We hope our listeners enjoy following the show and hearing our thoughts on the new episodes as they’re released!
