sometimes i find it helps if you untag any tags/links you have in the body of text, remove the post tags (i.e. #ezra x reader) and save the post and then re-add the links/tags! that's worked for me in the past!

Thank you nonny! I should have been more specific… for some reason the desktop site wasn’t letting me tag people in my taglist — but it worked on mobile, there’s just a limit to the number I can tag that way 😅 oh well. Will try to do the taglist in batches maybe.

This is good advice for the tags though! Anyone else having this problem, I’ve tried this and it has worked!

wild abandon, pt. 2 (Ezra/f!reader)

Rating: E (Explicit)

Length: 3.5k (Ch. 2 & Ch. 3)

Summary: Post-WWII, set in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Ezra Joe Collins came home from the war looking to hide away in the wilderness. His simple, quiet life is turned upside down when you show up in his garden, hungry and desperate, with nowhere else to go. What starts out as a grudging friendship quickly transforms into something that will knit your very souls together — but as you soon discover, such a bond comes at great cost.

Warnings: SMUT, explicit sexual content, violence, murder, supernatural elements, morally questionable main characters, history of abuse, let me know if I missed anything

A/N: Many thanks to my beloved @ezrasbirdie for the beta and to @mothandpidgeon and @lowlights for cheering me on! This is a dark fic and quite a departure for me, but I’m diving in to a thriller and hope to keep you guessing until the very end. 😉

Chapter 2: Thoreau’s Rules

Ezra disappeared after breakfast, leaving you to your mending. His clothes were in serious disrepair, torn and jagged from his days spent in the woods hunting and setting traps. You didn’t have much to work with, but you managed to patch a few holes and stitch up smaller ones, even neatening a frayed hem or two.

He stayed out from sunrise to sunset, most days. You’d been there for three weeks and had learned almost nothing new since that first night.

One afternoon, once he’d returned from hunting, you worked up the nerve to talk to him.

Prologue

Omaha Beach. June 6, 1944.

The Greatest Generation is known for its heroism. For the men and women who crossed oceans to fight wars on behalf of the oppressed, to protect freedom for those being crushed under the weight of fascist empires.

Ezra Joe Collins was not a hero.

He signed up to fight simply for something to do. It seemed the right thing to do, what with all those posters and film reels urging young men to reach inside themselves and discover their bravery, impress the young ladies, and fight for their country.

oooooh. I am very excited to see where this goes. We’re only one chapter in and I already have so many questions. I can hear Ezra, the way you’ve written his dialogue and it’s delightful.

I am loving this story!!

Thank you, bb! 💞💞

I love the backstory here and how you described it, the present time where things are so different yet all the same to someone who wishes to be on his own.

As long as you bring them back safely, she’d say, I see no reason to deprive you of the joy within. This part about how younger Ezra loves reading and the librarian just knows how he loves the reading, so perfect and so true.

He longs to escape to a world of peace and solitude, and it’s hard for him to imagine wanting to be with anyone more than he wants that. But he’s never met anyone quite like Bunny before 🤔

Thanks for reading and sharing! 💞

The mystery around the reader and how she came to be in Ezra’s company is so intriguing, especially when she mentions the plan she has. Even though he’s a hard and rough man, that glimmer of kindness and generosity is great.

This pulled me right in and I am so intrigued! And it's a thriller? Excellent!

I love all the little things that mirror the movie--his comments on theft, his injured arm, giving her a nickname, etc.

Brilliant first chapter! Really shows us just how disconnected Ezra is from the rest of "society", he's a loner and seems content enough that way. I just hope your little Bunny will give him a bit more than just contentedness! I love the pieces you show where you can see that Ezra is someone who values learning for learning's sake. I can't wait to see more! And, though I highly doubt it because it was likely mentioned for a reason, I hope whatever is chasing Bunny never catches her!

Aww!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 🥰💞 Thanks for reading and sharing! Bunny and Ezra have an adventure ahead!

The worst part about your first birthday in Colombia is spending it alone. Some of that’s your own fault—you haven’t told a soul it’s your birthday. After you turned thirty, it barely seems worth it. It’s not like you had any other significant milestones to celebrate, and there are a million other things going on, anyway. Catching Pablo Escobar, for example.

Eeeeee!!! A very happy birthday to @lowlights and a very lovely treat for ALL of US 🥰💞🤌

This is DELIGHTFUL and I want Javi to show up on my birthday pls & ty 😘

Chapter 5: This World Was Not My True Home

Pairing: Jack “Whiskey” Daniels x F!Reader

Summary: It's only dinner, and a little white lie.

Word Count: 3400

Warnings: M, we are yearning hardcore in this house, descriptions of character deaths (not graphic), entirely too much sexual tension, Jack Daniels needs his own warning, will be explicit in later chapters, 18+ MINORS DNI.

Notes: Here there be tropes! This might be the thirstiest chapter and it doesn't even have smut in it. Jack just brings out my inner yearn gremlin and I am taking you all down with me.

Jack and Jeb make quick work of the fence repair, resetting the split wood and shoring it up until Jeb’s sons can come home and fix it properly. The cattle, back on their rightful land, wander and spread, grazing and calling out to each other. You release the calf once inside the fence, his back legs kicking out in glee as he rejoins the herd. Copper shifts below you, and you give her a comforting pat on the neck. She did all the hard work, and you hope Jack will give her a good rubdown once he’s brought her home.

Whiskey Taglist 2:

It is once again Yearning O’Clock in town 🫠🤤 population: me

The gradual shift here, the flash of the system and Jack’s conversation with it, the story they tell Jeb and Mary 🥺💞 hELP

I love this so frickin much omg… can’t wait for more!

I’m already so so obsessed with this. I loved the way you wrote ezra’s character and I’m %100 sure this would be how he’d act in that time period– and the way you wrote their dialogues is amazing and I giggled from time to time.
