Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss!

@silvermoon424 / silvermoon424.tumblr.com

Hey! My name is Katy (she/her), I'm 27, and I am a MASSIVE anime/manga freak! Please don't be shy! I love making new friends and my ask box is always open.

Ugh I use a Mac and I updated to OS Monterey from OS Catalina (for those who don't know I was like an entire OS behind lol) on Sunday and I fucking hate it and am still not used to it. There are all sorts of little bugs that are driving me nuts.

Also, fuck whoever made the decision to change the OS design because this one is so ugly, lol. I hate unnecessary redesigns so fucking much. On software updates, on websites, you name it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The suits who demand unnecessary updates to designs/layouts people already like will be the first against the wall in the coming revolution I'm totally kidding unless you guys aren't

How would you rate the sailor senshi? Do you have any that you dislike or would change something about?

Honestly, the 10 main Sailor Senshi are all Best Girls. They're all incredibly unique and awesome in their own way, and I love how they each provide a relatable protagonist for an audience member to identify with in some way. A kindhearted klutz who loves food might relate to Usagi, a smart and studious person will probably connect to Ami, an artist and/or musician (especially a queer one) will probably think Michiru is cool, etc. And of course, you'll probably see different aspects of yourself reflected in various Senshi. For example, I relate a lot to Usagi, Ami, Minako, and Rei personality and hobbies-wise.

That's really awesome, especially when you consider that it's depressingly common to struggle to find even one or two relatable, three-dimensional female protagonists in some media. And Sailor Moon provides us with 10? No wonder this series has stayed so popular for 30 years.

So no, I don't dislike any of the central Sailor Senshi and I wouldn't really change anything about them. I do think the 90s anime exaggerated their character flaws sometimes (Ami's lack of confidence, Rei's bossiness, Haruka and Michiru's standoffishness and unwillingness to work with the Inner Senshi, etc) but overall I think they're great characters.

In any tomato based sauce, vodka, or any strong alcohol doesn't make the dish taste more like alcohol, it releases alcohol soluble elements from the tomato itself, making it taste sweeter, richer and more tomato than even just tomatoes themselves, this adds acidity, which is often tempered by the addition of dairy (usually heavy cream) a la vodka is not a delicate sauce, but any means, it's made with a full intention of every major ingredient hitting well above it's weight. And if you want it even better, try using a good botanical gin or a pepper vodka for even more intensity.

Why do you only care about people if they are Black for their skin is a problem to you because you want black people to life in hell? White people are not alleys to Black People or even non-black are white to your ugly ass replying to racism and blackface because you love white folks black washing themselves!

I know I shouldn't be responding to this because it's feeding this behavior but I just think it's really funny this racist brain-damaged anon keeps coming to my ask box trying to start shit for literally no reason lol

This message is so poorly written I honestly can't even tell which race you're being racist towards, leaning towards you being racist towards black folks tho

This is maybe a strange ask, but I feel like you’re trustworthy and a good place to ask. I used to watch anime online as a teen, but I feel like in the past couple years it’s become harder to find websites that don’t seem like they’ll give me a virus. Got any recommendations? And in this day and age should I use a VPN? And one more question (sorry!) I have a MacBook— should I get an antivirus program or is it not worth it? Tysm for any advice you can give! 🙏🏻

Hi there! Thanks for calling me trustworthy <3

First of all, r/piracy has a good list of trustworthy anime streaming sites. I personally use 9anime, it's my go-to site. I would, however, recommend installing an adblocker if you don't already have one. uBlock Origin (I linked the Chrome installation, although it's available on multiple browsers) is the one I use and it's never failed me.

I would also recommend investing in a VPN, especially if you ever plan on getting into torrenting (a viable alternative to streaming). I personally use NordVPN. They almost always have deals going on, and you can always find a YouTuber doing a sponsorship deal. I think I got 3 years of VPN service for like $110. If you can't afford to pay that much upfront, they do have a monthly subscription plan. NordVPN is also nice because you can access streaming libraries from other countries on sites like Netflix.

As for antivirus for Macs- as a Mac user myself, I've never invested in one. Macs are naturally pretty resilient to viruses, and more importantly, the vast majority of computer viruses target PCs because PCs are way more common than Macs. You're honestly pretty safe as long as you keep an adblocker up and don't download suspicious files.

However, I do have Malwarebytes downloaded just to passively scan my computer every now and then for any viruses that might get through (I think it did catch one a while ago that wasn't causing any noticeable issues). So I do recommend downloading that. If you want a more proactive version of Malwarebytes that actively scans and protects your computer, you can get that for $3.75 a month. But once again, in my experience Macs really don't need antivirus software.

Is it weird to lust after a fictional character even if you have a significant other?

No lol, they're not real and fictional characters are the best objects of attraction. Honestly, I don't even think it's bad to lust after celebrities or whatever even if you have a SO. It's all fantasy. As long as you don't intend to cheat on your partner with anyone it's all cool.

oh, i never came to understand who Mistress 9 is.. is it Saturn but grown up like it happened to Chibiusa?? Why does it happen anyways? why child and then poof grown ass women xD

It can be a little hard to understand; the anime in particular is very vague. However, the manga does seem to imply that Mistress 9's humanoid form is indeed Hotaru's body aged up due to accelerated growth. For example, there's a scene where Mistress 9 complains about how her hair keeps growing to extremely long lengths no matter how much she cuts it, implying that her awakened presence has an accelerating effect on Hotaru's body.

In the manga, we also see her true form later on, which is a monstrous Daimon that looks nothing like the beautiful form she took on earlier.

I've headcanoned for a long time that Hotaru will look like Mistress 9 when she grows up, minus the super long hair of course.

The issue with the beta editor seems to be mostly resolved, but it can be a bit fickle when you try to move images around. There's a specific place to hold to drag the images now, which can be hard to see depending on which theme you're using. It also looks terrible when you're actually editing the photoset, but should be fine as an actual post. If you edit it and it looks off, try saving it as a draft and see if the issue resolves.

Thank you!! This helped me out and now I'm pretty sure I'm able to use the beta editor for photosets.

Again, thanks so much!!

unsolved murder mysteries on youtube be like "the police trampled all over the crime scene, making sure to move all the bodies and throw away the knife that was used as the murder weapon. when they questioned the only suspect, mr aym de killer, he recalled every single detail of the crime and said his favorite knife went missing. he fled the country the next day and wrote a letter to his wife saying 'i definitely did it'. the police decided that this was irrelevant. no arrests were ever made, and this mystery will forever remain unsolved for the rest of time.'

It's pandering if its appeals to anybody not white, straight, cis and/or male intentionally or otherwise. Otherwise? It's just a show/book/movie/audio drama.

There are two genders: Male and political

There are two races: White and political

There are two sexualities: Straight and political

There are two body types: Skinny and political

this has bothered me for a long time and i'm just gonna say it:

makoto being self-conscious about her height and thinking she's unfeminine or unapproachable or whatever when SETSUNA HARUKA AND MICHIRU ARE RIGHT THERE

like, giiiirrrrlll...... you're still shorter than me (5'9, girly af) it's all about the energy you bring to the table ok. find you a tall man that doesn't give a damn and treats you like a 5'2 princess with broken hands & feet that can't touch nothing

(michiru seemed taller by her presence alone but i've checked and she's shorter)

(bro setsuna is like 6', nobody would dare call her un-feminine)

We were robbed of a story where Setsuna and Haruka help Mako feel feminine

Also not to be weird but tons of guys are into taller girls anyway, any man who’s threatened by a tall queen doesn’t deserve them

LINK TO MAGIA ARCHIVE VOLUME 1 AND VOLUME 2

Thankfully this artbook is shorter than the Magia Archive ones so it took less time to scan! While the Magia Archive books were artbooks for the games, this is a guidebook/artbook for the anime adaptation and covers all of season 1. Features include episode recaps, profiles on the characters, Witches, and Uwasa, and artwork of the settings and characters.

I hope you all enjoy looking through this artbook as much as I did. I encourage you to purchase your own hard copies to support the publication of this book and to encourage future artbooks. It really is worth the money and looks very nice on my bookshelf along with my other artbooks!

Also, this was a big job, so if you upload this anywhere else please credit me for scanning it!

Volume 2 of this artbook is coming out on September 27th! I have already preordered it and will be scanning it when it gets here.

I assume the artbook will be covering seasons 2/3 of the anime (which is really just season 2 since they split it up). Despite my feelings about how the anime ended, the animation and designs really are pretty so I’m excited to see what’s in the artbook.

Also, speaking of artbooks, when the hell is Magia Archive Volume 3 gonna come out??? Volume 2 came out in very early 2020 and covered up to the end of Arc 1. Considering we’re nearly at the end of Arc 2 and there’s been no artbook content for it yet, it’s well overdue. Maybe they’re waiting for it to wrap up and then they’ll publish volumes 3 and 4 close together?

Bored tumblr radfem here to take the bait- What kind of gender feelings were you having? Magical ineffable girly feelings about wanting to wear spinny dresses and play with dolls? You know what gender feelings I was having as a young woman- Feeling afraid of the men sexually assaulting me. Wanting to be seen as a whole human being with interests and ambitions. Alienation as a gnc lesbian which made me want to chop my tits off. Those are the gender feelings I had. Very curious to hear about yours

Ok to answer your question, the gender feelings I was getting from since I was a little kid were along the lines of:

  • "I wish I could have been born a girl, I don't really like being a boy that much"
  • "women's clothes are so much better than than men's clothes, I wish I was a girl so I could wear them"
  • "My female friends kind of act like I'm 'one of the girls' but my male friends never treat me like I'm 'one of the guys'. I like this arrangement. I don't want to fit in with the boys."
  • "I wish my face was more androgynous and I wasn't as tall, that way I could dress up as a girl and everyone would be totally convinced"
  • "I can't stand romance stories. Unless it's a romance between two girls. Those rule. Really wish there were more of them 😔"
  • "I love women but I don't really relate to how cishet men talk about women. For some reason I *really* relate to how lesbians and bisexual women talk about women though."

I think you get the idea.

With that out of the way, there's kind of a second question underlying your initial question which is "what the fuck do you think is so fun about being a woman? being a woman is fucking terrible." And I think that question is worth answering as well since it's probably something a lot of people are legitimately curious about.

The short answer is that, in my experience, "womanhood" as a concept is broad and varried enough that different people are going to get different things out of it, and while all women are oppressed and traumatized by patriarchy, the way they process that trauma is VERY far from uniform.

I know lots of cis women who've been through similar things to what this anon has described, but they haven't come out of it with nearly the same perspective. They recognize that just because *they* can never be comfortable with the role that society prescribed to them, that doesn't mean that no one else can or should be comfortable with that role. They recognize that you can take joy in the aesthetics and performance of a lot of things that are stereotypically feminine while still asserting your value as a person and refusing to put up with patriarchal bullshit. And perhaps most importantly, they recognize that the notion that someone can choose their gender is not contradictory to the idea that people should not be forced into a rigidly defined gender role. There are a lot of trans men who want to look like femboys or dress like flamboyant glam-rockers. There are a lot of trans women who don't give a shit about fashion or makeup and just want to be comfortable, or aspire to look like a capital d Dyke.

And like.... Idk isn't there something freeing about that? The idea that you can be whatever gender you want in whatever way you want, patriarchy be damned. That seems like the kind of world I want to live in.

So yeah anon, I understand why you view womanhood the way you do. For someone with your experiences, it makes a lot of sense. But I don't think your perspective has to be mutually exclusive to mine. I want to live in a world where women aren't forced to present a certain way from birth, don't live in constant fear of abuse and assault by men, and aren't belittled and marginalized at every turn. I just happen to also think that the idea of biologically determined gender is just as much bullshit as the idea of systemically enforced gender roles.

As a cis woman, why do radfems insist that being a woman has to be centered around suffering? I love being a woman. I love femininity. Obviously women are marginalized/oppressed in some capacity basically everywhere in the world, but why does our relationship to and views on womanhood have to revolve around suffering?

Anon, I’m sorry you faced traumatic experiences on the basis of your gender but that doesn’t give you the right to insist that every woman’s experiences must also be defined by abuse. It’s really alienating and weird to those of us who are comfortable with our gender. Not to mention it often leads to transphobic BS like this where you insist that trans women can’t be women because they haven’t been abused by men enough or whatever (as if that’s a requirement to be a woman; if that’s the case, revoke my woman card I guess lol).

I actually think trans women who ascribe to the idea of “gender euphoria” have the right idea; to me, being a woman should involve being comfortable in and celebrating your gender, however you choose to express it. Miss me with this radfem idea of “being a woman is horrible and built on pain”
