In 2018 I made a desk-calendar and documented it on instagram for a year (and then made a year-in-review post about it here) In 2019 I did it again with a new calendar I made of tiny explorers- here’s what that year looked like.

This year you better believe we’re starting it all over again.  You can follow the monthly progress of my 2020 calendar over on instagram - https://www.instagram.com/sfemonster/  2020′s theme is a slow procession of astral beasts.

Happy 2020, everyone.  It’s so scary out there right now.  Let’s try to hang on together.

Here is my comic contribution to Despite Everything: An Undertale Zine About Feelings, a mini-anthology I coordinated to celebrate Undertale’s 4 year anniversary back in September, featuring nine comics by nine contributors reflecting on the lasting significance of Undertale in their lives four years after the game’s initial release.

My comic is a little bit vulnerable, and is about how Undertale helped me get through one of the biggest challenges of my life: my top surgery, which I underwent in 2016.

Despite Everything is a free-to-read digital zine that you can download and enjoy for yourself (for free!) right here on gumroad: https://gumroad.com/products/DliCI

I loved making this comic and editing this zine, and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Here is a one-page preview of a comic I made to contribute to Augur Magazine’s most recent issue.

I was invited to submit a piece and made a comic about grief and trauma and recovery and lots of and lots of teeth called “it was/n’t.”  I loved making this piece, and Augur Magazine puts together an incredible publication.  If you’re interested in reading the issue you can check it out at >> http://www.augurmag.com/

Here’s some excerpts of a book I made in collaboration with Jam ( @angelamelick ) earlier this year.  It’s called Wander and it’s about a gentle journey, based on drawings we exchange with one another every night before bed that follow the ongoing journey of our titular character: The Wanderer.

The story is an infinite loop that starts at either end of the book (mine on one end, Jam’s on the other) that works towards the centre.  This is a preview of a few of my favourite pages that I drew.

I loved this project.  It was a delight to make it and it helped me remember why I like drawing and enjoy making comics.

(The cover ambigram was designed by my friend Al Grant)

I’m not doing inktober this year, but last year I did a fun riff on inktober with two of my friends, Kathleen Gros, and James Brandi! We each made a paper doll base, and then spent the month drawing outfits for each other.  These are my outfits (the bottom two on their respective bases), and we compiled the whole thing into a PDF you can download on itch.io >> right here! <<

Hey! I’m going to be making a bunch of posts because for better or for worse: this is my portfolio site.  Sorry for the spam throughout the day! I appreciate your patience.

Also!! if you want to see MUCH more frequent updates from me, check out my instagram, which I update every wednesday: instagram.com/sfemonster

Despite Everything: An Undertale Zine About Feelings will be out in just a few days.  It’s a zine about Undertale and feelings.  Featuring nine comics by nine contributors talking about, well...... Undertale and feelings.

I’m very excited about it and can’t wait to share it.  It’s awesome that it’s all coming together in time for Undertale’s fourth anniversary.  Also Sans is in Smash, now.  So... I’m into all of that.

Aaa, I always forget about Tumblr.

I don’t know how many people follow me here are into Undertale, but I’m putting together a little zine about Undertale and Feelings to celebrate the game’s fourth year anniversary (which is coming up in September).  The deadline for pitches (just your idea for what you’d like to do) is June 30th, so if you’d like to be involved and have an idea for autobio comics about Undertale I’d love to hear from you!

It’s something for fun that I’m doing for fun, and I hope you’ll join me because (and I’m still trying to learn this to this very day) it’s okay to have fun.

I can’t believe the last time I posted here was January, but here we are and here I am.

A cool thing that happened: volume 1 of the official Minecraft graphic novel that I wrote is out and it’s in stores now! You can buy it... like, basically anywhere that sells comics and books.  I wrote it! It was drawn by Sarah Graley, and lettering was by John J. Hill.  It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever been allowed and encouraged to do.  It’s Minecraft!

Anyway, that’s what I get to talk about! I’m still around even though I’m pretty busy these days (who isn’t, let’s be real).  I’m a lot more active on instagram, and not active at all on Twitter, so don’t look me up there.

Be good. 💙

Last year I made a “Sfé Aesthetic” desk calendar as part of an ongoing effort to help me keep better track of things.  For fun, I made a point of photographing a page of it every month over on my instagram.

This is a collage of the results, which looking back on I’m really pleased with :) It was a fun project, and one I intend to carry on! You can follow the monthly progress of my 2019 calendar over on instagram - https://www.instagram.com/sfemonster/  2019′s mood is a gentle year of aesthetic meanderings, so I’m really looking forward to that.

Happy 2019, everyone.  We’re here.  We made it.  I’m proud of us.  xox

Happy new year! 2019!

I have a new PDF available on Patreon (assembled by my friend Jam - http://angelamelick.tumblr.com/ ) of 67 cats we drew together in 67 days between March and May of 2018.  Getting into the habit of drawing one thing a day, consistently, every day, was one of the greatest things I did in 2018, and I love that it started with this sweet, simple daily drawing project. (I know cats aren’t my usual go-to subject matter, but you’ll find out why I was drawing them when you read the PDF.)

The project was called Catte.  You can download and read the entire thing (which includes Jam’s cattes as well) for $1 on my patreon - https://www.patreon.com/sfemonster

Happy new year, everyone.  I hope above all else the first day of 2019 is kind.

Here is a two page preview of the comic I made as part of the For The Love Of Monsters anthology currently fundraising on Kickstarter! It’s a monster romance anthology, which is one of my most favourite genres, and I’m so excited I got to be a part of this book!

My comic is called “(Don’t) Let Them Consume You” and is a short surreal story about love and longing and the desire to remain constant and consistent in the face of change.  Also... it’s about a big maw and lots of teeth because, look: it’s 2018 and (Marge Simpson voice) I just think they’re neat.

For The Love Of Monsters is currently funding on Kickstarter and the campaign is entering its last week, which means time is running out to back this great book full of romance, monsters, and more! Check out the project to learn more of the lineup and the anthology right here! >> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/30379842/monstrously-queer-comic-anthologies

So!!!! I’ve been dying to talk about this and as of today I can: I wrote the official Minecraft graphic novel, being published by Dark Horse!

I am so stoked about this! Minecraft!!! I’m very pleased and so proud of the story I got to write, and adapting Minecraft into a comic was a blast! The book is going to be drawn by @sarahssketchbook and lettered by @johnjhill.  It’ll be out in stores in summer 2019, but a 6-page preview is in American Target stores RIGHT NOW (and if you click-through on the link you can read the preview pages that were posted as part of the Newsweek announcement!).

Minecraft!!!!
