Anonymous asked:

i was curious if you were thinking of opening commissions within the next few months? i did a little digging in your blog but i didn't see any offhand mentions anywhere about it!

hello anon, thank you for asking! unfortunately with my current work/life balance i can't reasonably schedule in the time to reopen commissions :'( just knowing myself, i would struggle to deliver the art in a timely manner and would spiral a bit over it LOL

if you've commissioned me before, i am open to you reaching out to me with an inquiry and discussing cost/timeline options for a possible new commission! i really can only manage one at a time, spaced out, and for that reason i can't reopen them on my usual batch/form system ;_;

it’s a limb that i‘d like to offer

short Pavellan fic, SFW, ~1100 words. Teen/M rating?? Recreational drug use, fluff? Fluff. i can’t believe i wrote this immediately after saying i didn’t have any dragon age ideas anymore OTL

Mahon’s fingertips are faintly sticky from crushed herb as he finishes rolling his joint, and holds it unlit between his lips while he busies his hands with tidying his desk. Here, in the small hours when night settles heavy over Skyhold, he feels most at ease. He plods around his chambers in his lounging pants, low-rise and barefoot, with his long hair unbraided and recently brushed. He lets the soft strands drift into his face, slip over his shoulders, as he bends to do the small work of preparing the room for his waking.

The only sound is his quiet shuffling, and the occasional turning of a page from where Dorian lies reading in bed. Each glide of the paper sends a fondness skittering across Mahon’s skin, overjoyed knowing Dorian is comfortable in his sheets, on his pillows, intends to stay - and doesn’t need a sparkling conversation to enjoy his time spent here.

He snuffs the candles farthest, works inward toward the bed, bringing cozy darkness with him. It makes the silence sing in the far walls. At the foot of the bed, Mahon grants himself a little indulgence: he stares at Dorian’s fine hands, at the elegant dark hair on his wrists, vanishing up inside soft sleeves - at the folds under his jaw where his head rests comfortably propped on pillows, at the faint shadow promising stubble, the dimple in his left cheek, and the warm steady gaze already lifted from the pages to meet his, here. Dorian shuts the book, softly. Sets it on the side table without breaking that gaze.

“All done, then?” He asks, voice worn from the day and not expecting to be used again.

Mahon nods, then smiles - and shakes his head.

He squints into the distance with a groggy expression. His hair is long, black, loosely curled and messy, and rests over one shoulder. He wears a large purple sweater with thumb holes in the sleeves, a dark turquoise sash around his waist, and beige pants. A bear fur blanket is wrapped loosely around him, slipping off of one shoulder. His hands are crossed in his lap. A subtle green glow emanates from the fingers of his left hand, and he holds a lit joint in his right hand. Thin wisps of smoke are visible by his hands and head. The background is a dark line of pine trees against a medium-blue gradient sky. From left to right, the clouds are illuminated pale orange into bright green. Some sparks from a nearby campfire float around him.

It’s international overdose awareness day (August 31st) so today is a good day to learn about your local harm reduction services! Since the beginning of the pandemic, overdose rates have skyrocketed. In Ontario where I work there has been a 79% increase in overdose related deaths, which can be largely attributed to people using alone (x). Similar figures can be found for the United States. The supply has changed too. We are seeing more frequently fentanyl cut with benzodiazepines, a combination with a significantly higher fatality rate. Those hit the hardest have been people who are homeless with 1 in 6 deaths being someone experiencing homelessness (x). If you aren’t educated on how to identify and prevent overdose deaths now is the time to learn.

Naloxone (generic) or Narcan (brand) is a fast-acting drug that temporarily reverses the effects of an overdose, restoring breathing and providing time for life saving intervention. Naloxone is used to respond to only opioid-related overdoses such as Fentanyl, Heroin, Morphine, and Codeine. Naloxone administered to someone not having an overdose has no effect and is completely harmless. It generally comes in two forms, a nasal spray and an injectable. If you can, have a naloxone kit in your home, car, bag, or workplace.

In Canada you can get naloxone at almost any pharmacy for free (or free with a prescription) provided you have a health card. The pharmacist will give you a short demonstration on how to administer naloxone as well. Multiple harm reduction agencies exist across Canada and also supply naloxone as well as other free supplies such as needles, alcohol swabs, pipes, and sometimes testing kits to verify the purity of a drug. If your province does not have free naloxone at pharmacies, majority of needle exchange and harm reduction services will have it for free.

This is by no means a definitive list of all the harm reduction organizations in Canada. If you can’t find a harm reduction service in your community many HIV and AIDS organizations, First Nations community and friendship centres and homeless shelters carry these supplies or can direct you to the proper organizations. As well call your local public health organization for more information.
