The Brass Serpent
And the Lord said unto Moses, aMake thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall blive.
We know from the Book of Mormon that many of the Israelites, because of the easiness of the way, would not look upon the brass serpent and therefore died. We have to remember to do even the simple things the Lord asks us to do and have faith.
I am grateful for the trip I was able to take to Iowa.
I have spent the last 4 days traveling to and from Iowa and spending time with my mother in the hospital. It was hard to see her so, but I’m glad that I went. Thursday she was fairly responsive and seemed to recognize me some of the time even said she loved me. Friday she was not very responsive, but I got Heather on a video phone call with her and she responded well to Heather and then she ate some food. When we first got there she wasn’t responding to anything and wouldn’t take any food.
She’s been moved to the palliative care ward where she can have 3 visitors per day and at a time so my dad and I were both able to be there. We both spent the day there talking to her and trying to feed her.
The plan is to move her to home hospice care when Shari can come out, probably late next week. It’s going to be tough for Shari to do.
My dad and I went out to dinner Friday night and then spent two hours talking about how he’s doing and my trying to get him not to blame himself – that there’s nothing he could have done even if they’d caught it earlier. He puts up a good show but he’s struggling. Of course, not surprising at all, he’s losing his wife and though he knows he’ll see her again on the other side, it’s not easy.
