UPDATE (Sept. 14, 2022, 5:27 p.m. EST)A federal jury in Illinois on Wednesday found disgraced singer R. Kelly guilty on six counts of sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor.

Today's announcement follows another recent conviction:

June 30, 2022: "After decades of accusations that he sexually abused young Black women and girls, R&B singer and songwriter R. Kelly has finally been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison."

"Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a bill Tuesday that would ban most abortions nationwide starting at 15 weeks of pregnancy.

The South Carolina senator introduced the bill less than three months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion. The measure would sharply narrow abortion access in numerous states — especially blue states, which tend to have more abortion rights protections.

The legislation has little chance of passing Congress as it currently stands, as Democrats hold slim majorities in both the House and Senate.

It arrives ahead of the pivotal November midterm elections, where expectations of a Republican rout have been thrown into doubt as evidence mounts that the reversal of Roe has galvanized Democratic voters.'

"PHOENIX (AP) — Planned Parenthood Arizona has joined several other providers that have restarted abortion care in the state —, although it may only be temporary — after clinics ceased providing the service when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that women do not have a constitutional right to end a pregnancy.

The organization has for years done the most abortions in the state, but it ended the practice after the high court overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling on June 24."

"A judge on Wednesday struck down Michigan’s 1931 anti-abortion law, months after suspending it, the latest development over abortion rights in a state where the issue is being argued in courtrooms and, possibly, at the ballot box.

The law, which was long dormant before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, violates the Michigan Constitution, said Judge Elizabeth Gleicher."

Kay and Shipman worked with a polling firm to learn more about the issue and were shocked to discover that girls' confidence drops by 30% between the ages of 8 and 14.

"Right until age 8, there's really no difference [between girls and boys] in confidence levels," Shipman says. "We were surprised at how quickly, how deep that drop is."

BREAKING NEWS: Mary Peltola beats Sarah Palin!

"Democrat Mary Peltola won the special election for Alaska’s only U.S. House seat on Wednesday, besting a field that included Republican Sarah Palin, who was seeking a political comeback in the state where she was once governor.

Peltola, who is Yup’ik and turned 49 on Wednesday, will become the first Alaska Native to serve in the House and the first woman to hold the seat. She will serve the remaining months of the late Republican U.S. Rep. Don Young’s term. Young held the seat for 49 years before his death in March.

Peltola’s victory, coming in Alaska’s first statewide ranked choice voting election, is a boon for Democrats, particularly coming off better-than-expected performances in special elections around the country this year following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade. "

"A man in a cowboy hat sits down, taking a break from an annual Canadian rodeo, to feel period cramps for the first time.

"This is terrible," he says, wiping sweat away from his forehead.

The TikTok video, which has been viewed more than 20.5 million times, is part of a series from period product company Somedays to help explain just how painful menstruation can be.

Somedays hooked volunteers up to a "period pain simulator" designed to simulate the throbbing, constrictive cramps that many people experience during menstruation. In the clips, facilitators explain that their standard period cramps are a level five, though some women regularly experience up to a level 10 and above.

Earlier this month, influencer Sarah Nicole Landry and her husband, Shane, tried the simulator together. Nicole graded a level 7 as a mild cramp, while Shane said that a level 8 cramp would cause him to call out of work."

"A 12-year-old gave passionate testimony on Wednesday at the West Virginia legislature, opposing a new abortion ban that would outlaw the procedure in all but the most extreme cases.

“I play for varsity volleyball and I run track. My education is very important to me, and I plan on doing great things in life,” Addison Gardner of Buffalo Middle School told lawmakers during a special session. “If a man decides that I’m an object, and does unspeakable, tragic things to me, am I, a child, supposed to carry and birth another child?”

“Am I to put my body through the physical trauma of pregnancy? Am I to suffer the mental implications, a child who had no say in what was being done with my body?” she added. “Some here say they are pro-life. What about my life? Does my life not matter to you?”

"Former Miss America Cara Mund said Wednesday that her concern about the erosion of abortion rights prompted her independent bid for the U.S. House in her home state of North Dakota.

Mund, who is running against the odds in deeply conservative North Dakota, told The Associated Press that the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn the constitutional right to abortion was “just a moment where I knew we need more women in office.”

Her run comes as North Dakota’s only abortion clinic is Fargo prepares to relocate across the border to Minnesota to avoid recrimination if courts allow a law banning all abortions except in cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the pregnant woman to be enforced.

"Singapore will repeal a law that bans gay sex, effectively making it legal to be homosexual in the city-state.

The decision, announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on national TV, comes after years of fierce debate.

LGBT activists in Singapore have hailed the move as "a win for humanity".

The city-state is known for its conservative values, but in recent years an increasing number of people have called for the colonial-era 377A law to be abolished.

Singapore is the latest place in Asia to move on LGBT rights, after India, Taiwan and Thailand."

"A law has taken effect in Scotland to ensure period products are available free of charge to anyone who needs them.

The Scottish government said it became the first in the world to legally protect the right to access free period products when its Period Products Act came into force Monday.

Under the new law, schools, colleges and universities as well as local government bodies must make a range of period products available for free in their bathrooms. The Scottish government already invested millions of pounds since 2017 to fund free period products in educational institutions, but the law makes it a legal requirement.

A mobile phone app also helps people find the nearest place — such as the local library or community center — where they can pick up period products."

I love your profile soooo much omfg. I'm also a feminist account(I remained anon so you don't think I'm trying to promo myself), how do I gain more followers? Any particular methods you use? Thanks!

Thanks a lot!

Here’s one tip for growing your blog audience: solid post tagging to get your posts out there. “If they can’t find you, they can’t like you.”

A lot of times, bloggers will only do 3-5 tags per post. For a post on the wage gap, they may tag “feminism” and “wage gap.” This means that if their post gets some likes and shares, they will show up as a popular post for those two words/phrases.

If I’m covering that topic, I will use tags including: feminism, feminist, wage gap, pay gap, gender wage gap, gender inequality, gender equality, workplace discrimination, etc. This way if the post gets activity, it will show up for as many as 10-20 words/phrases, allowing WAY more discovery for the post and blog.

The words need to be appropriate and relevant, don’t just use words for the sake of using them, but thoroughness definitely helps!

To get tag ideas, you should look at what other people are tagging when they cover similar topics. Tumblr even shows related terms when you do a topic search.

Hope that helps! Good luck with your blog!
