Dust and debris swirled in the air above her. Maddie stumbled to her feet, only to brace herself on the countertop as a wave of dizziness overcame her. Everything hurt: that dull ache in her bones she sometimes got when it was too cold as she slept.

What…happened…?

ianthe is ironically much more sympathetic than john because she is constantly performing and flaunting how unsympathetic she is. she is performatively cruel and openly petty and puts on a big show of being bored and dismissive of morality and kindness. whereas john is just as cruel and vindicitive of a guy but he is constantly backpedaling and sanitizing and making excuses at every angle until it suits him to stop. ianthe will tell people to their face that her love is selfish and transactional but john wants you to think he’s doing you a favour by killing you

why did returning Nona's soul to The Body wake Alecto up? wouldn't Alecto like... didn't she had her soul in her body when John locked her up? when Harrow opened the tomb as a child and saw The Body, and was haunted, why did the body not wake then?

what was the... trigger point for Alecto awakening? it clearly isn't the Tomb being opened. it opened to let anastasia in to die and it opened for harrow. and it opened at the end of NtN.

or was Nona's soul not...... from the tomb? was there an as-yet-unrevealed condition for Alecto's (second) revival?
