Whilloh Kitchen - Louvred Design with 12 Objects

14th of October, 2020. That was the day this kitchen idea was first born. I know that because I created the folder for the blend file on that day (I do try to be organised). I loved the idea of a louvre kitchen, but never found the time to bring it to reality so it just sat there, forever in limbo taunting me to work on it, or bin it. I loved it too much to throw away such a unique idea, so it just sat there. After such a shitty start to 2022, I finally opened up the blend file, promptly remapped it, and got to work finishing it. I am really glad I did. I get British Colonial vibes, where it's classic design meets tropical relaxation, and I finally got around to making rattan I like, and that works with the style of TS4. Now everyone can enjoy the final product and what I envisioned almost 2 years ago when I came up with it.

Heya Peace! Do you have any plans for adapting your windows for the curved walls?

Avatar

No plans at this time. If i ever made curved windows, they would be new designs, not previously released styles.

Studio updates with batch fix for CC beds

Hi all, the High School Years expansion added pillow fights on beds. Studio’s (Windows and Mac) batch fix updates CC beds so your Sims can pillow fight on them.

The batch fix has been tested on double beds, single beds, double mattresses on separated frames, and single mattresses on separated frames. If you encounter a bed or separated mattress that isn’t fixed by this batch fix, please report this so the batch fixer can be updated to work on all CC items.

Choose your version to download HERE.

OK, cool. Thank you.

Do you think S4S will have a batch fix for all cc beds soon?

Not a clue as I am not involved in the development or upkeep of the program. That question is best asked on their tumblr or forums. I can only speculate on past batch fixes that is it merely possible for it to be done, but they are busy people, and real life comes first.

Bedding Update 28th July 2022

The introduction of High School Years Expansion pack, and the subsequent basegame update, added new interactions to bedding resulting in exemption errors occurring. I have done my best to fix the issues, as well as a weight paint issue with my luxurious bedding that became obvious when testing, and have uploaded fixes separated, merged, and individual files where applicable. You can find links to the affected sets below.

hi, i was wondering if you could help me? i'm trying to follow your tutorial on how to fix the beds. however, when i try to type in the cheat 'object-preview' it says that the 'cheat could not be found'. what should i do? thank you in advance!! (im a mac user)

Avatar

That might be the problem. I am not entirely sure if Mac supports the object preview option, or if the cheat is different. On PC version you can type "help" into the cheat console to bring up the list of supported commands for S4S, so worth looking to see if it's a different input.

You can still get around the issue though. I just use the object preview option to save on the amount of unused clones I once made just to get access to certain resources. Just clone a bed instead (you want "Create 3d mesh", not just recolour so it pulls the rig and slot resources). Export them from that cloned file instead then continue with the tutorial.

Let me ask you this: would you ever make rounded furniture so that it matches a round room? 👀 is that even possible with the rig limitations? Thanks for all you do 🥰

Avatar

The only curved item I know of is the sectional peice, and that only sits one. Rotating all the rigging would not be easy to do and who knows if sims will even effortlessly use it....

So probably not

Heyy! Just a random ask; Will you be making stuff fit round walls? Updating old stuff to fit them? Making new sets fit them? Love your stuff!

Avatar

I really am not happy, and without half walls right now, so chances of me making curved items is pretty slim. There is always the possibility in the future to make some, but i don't see it happening any time soon.

As for my older content, given that my items do work on the walls, even with slight clipping and MOO cheat activated, i have no plans to tag old stuff as suitable for curved walls because frankly, they aren't perfect and were never designed to be used on them. The option is there for people with cheats, so i will leave that up to users. I wont be adding curved variants to old sets either, that would really require completely new meshes, so i would limit that to a new set, not old ones if that happens.

Hi, can you make a tutorial on how to fix beds? Thank you <3

Avatar

It's pretty simple. here is a breakdown:

  1. Download new version of S4S (better safe then sorry)
  2. Open the cheat console within S4S by pressing crtl_shift+C
  3. In the popup, type "object-preview" (best to full screen this popup, as we need all the space to see warehouse tab)
  4. search for bed
  5. Click on a double bed and wait for it to load in
  6. Go to Warehouse tab and find the Rig and Slot resources (usually one after the other).
  7. Click on the rig resource (it will be highlighted blue), and on the far right bottom click the "export" button.
  8. Save the file somewhere easy to find and with a good name (like bedding-double-rig)
  9. Click on the Slot resource next and repeat as above.
  10. If you have single bedding as well, find one in the far left panel and load in. Repeat exporting the rig and slot information (making sure to label single and double bed resources clearly when exporting so you don't mix them up).
  11. Close the object-preview window
  12. Open a copy of your broken bedding. Best to do on a copy, because if you mess you can just delete and make another copy.
  13. Go to warehouse tab and click on the rig resource.
  14. On the bottom right, click Import and navigate to where you saved your exported resources. Make sure you are importing the rig resource and not slot resource, otherwise it will throw and error.
  15. Import the double bed rig.
  16. Click on the Slot resource and import the new slot resource.
  17. Save
  18. Test in game, when placing it shouldn't disappear, and you should have option for pillow fight. And of course, no exemption error should be thrown.

Hope that helps :)

Hello! Thanks for the bedding update! Is your other CC cleared for the patch?

Avatar

The only problem i found was bedding.

Windows can be used on curved walls as well, but it's hit and miss as to what clips through. I do believe you need MOO on as well to be able to use them (mine is always on). At this point I wont be going back to update that, as they are still functional.

if i replace my packages of your updated bedding, does that mean all the beddings from my saves will be deleted? or will they be replaced by the fixed ones?

Avatar

They are the same package files, so they will not remove the already placed beds. You are safe from having to place the beds again.

hi, peace! thank you for the bed update so fast, you're the best!

while downloading the pieces, i noticed you didn't put the elsie bedroom. are you planning on updating it or it's going to stay unsupported? (or it's fine? i haven't played with the new pack yet) tysm!

Avatar

Hi! Elsie Bedroom only contains furniture, no mattresses, so no need to update that set. Issues were solely limited to bed interactions, hence why none of my other bedroom sets are included. Hope that helps :)

So it hasn’t just been fixing CC over the past few days. i did get early access via The Creator network, so I have been playing around with the building update as that's more my thing. And man do I have thoughts. It really isn’t where I want it to be and quite frankly, I doubt I will be using curved walls much at all. Also half walls are not supported at this time (hopefully down the line?) so I am going to nag them to make that a priority. For me, without curved half walls, it’s only half implemented. I did manage to make a nice Art Deco shell though 🤷‍♂️

I had a lot of beds to fix, but it was quick and simple. I just need to check the fix actually worked. It did solve the exemption I was getting.

Hi Peace! I was just wondering if all of your windows and doors are ok in the latest patch?

Avatar

Not sure, haven't gotten that far yet

Avatar

So as a commenter has said, they work on curves, but not all of them because of clipping, but that is to be expected. Just don’t be surprised is some stuff doesn’t look good. Some of my windows, both addons are edits, just seem to be too narrow to hide the curve and the wall around the cutout can be visible. So just experiment and see what you like.

Do you know how to change the style category your furniture shows up under using Sims 4 Studio? If you don't mind sharing. I can't find a tutorial anywhere.

Avatar

I do, but it's a little tedious if you already have swatches. Best to do when you only have 1 to start, before other styles are added. It all needs to be done via the warehouse tab.

  1. Go to the warehouse tab
  2. Find the "Object Catalog" resource
  3. There is a line called "Styles." Click the Edit Items button to open popup
  4. This is the hex code for styles. You can have 1 or more, or even none at all. If no entry exists, Group should be 00000000, Type is 9F5CFF10 and the Instance is the style code.
  5. Using my Style Tag List (which I just updated) find which style you want your object to be tagged as, copy the code and paste into the Instance field.
  6. Save out of the popup, and save your package.
  7. If you have to manually change each swatch, repeat for other Object Catalog resources.
  8. Save package and double check ingame.
