Hello, my name is Michelle. I am a poor trans woman from Mexico trying to help my family escape poverty and homelessness. And to do that I am trying to build us a home. You see, we lost our home years ago, and we have gone from one terrible situation to another ever since, going from being homeless squatters to living from shelter to shelter until we could find a place with a low enough rent. But now we are on the verge of losing that and being on the streets again.

And we cannot afford to do that when my aunt and brother both are disabled and me and mom can’t find anything more that low-paying minimum wage jobs. For years now we had been saving whatever we could to build ourselves a house, no matter how small as long as we could live there and not have to worry about landlords and homelessness again. But even after all our efforts all we could do is build a foundation and some walls on a small plot of land that my grandfather left my mom. 

But I had this idea that we could start a fundraiser online and we could complete our house, and it was going pretty well. I had been receiving a lot of support and donations and I was about halfway through our goal when the website that I used to raise funds, gogetfunding, stopped working. It just instantly refunded any new donations. Later I found out this is because of a law that passed in Mexico called Fintech Law, or Ley Fintech, that affected the way in which e-wallets worked, so paypal stopped working properly with gogetfunding, which was where I was hosting the gogetfunding donations until then. 

So now we are out of options for raising funds online and with our house only half finished. And the worst thing is that our landlord got angry at us over a problem with the electrical wiring that got damaged. We repaired it but now she says she’s gonna kick us out and that’s final, and we only got about 2 months more that happens.

But, I contacted one of my friends online and they agreed to let me use their bank account to host donations on a gofundme capaign, also under their account. Because gofundme doesn’t support campaigns from Mexico unless they’re using an American or European bank, and we only have one account and it’s a Mexican bank.

Originally what we asked for was 11,000 dollars. And we raised about 5,000, so we completed half of the work on building the house. Now we ask for is the rest of that, 6,000 dollars. Please, I know we can do it. We almost did it last time and we can do it again. We already have about 400 dollars even, now we only have 5,600 to go.

And If you can’t donate through that gofundme link, my paypal does work for direct donations. The fintech law did not affect that thankfully. It just doesn’t work in conjuction with online fundraisers like gogetfunding.

Please, we have gone through so much trouble with this thing, and to get this close now and not finish it would just absolutley break us. And I just don’t want our family to be homeless again or to start wasting the money we have raised on finding a new place. The house we have been building is already more that half-finished. That is where we want to go, where we want to live. Because we want to live in peace and not answer to any landlord over anything. We want to have some control of our lives. For the sake of my mother and my aunt and brother, please help us out, with anything you can. Any donation no matter how much or a reblog, we appreciate and are grateful for anything that people do for us.

Since I wasn’t able to raise enough money to escape my abusive home and get a new apartment, I’ve had to move back in with my homophobic dad who is legally my guardian through the courts. I am an adult, but he’s had me deemed mentally incapable by a judge, even though this is far from true. He is trying to send me to conversion therapy in the United States, right now it is just threats but I need out before he actually does it. Please help if you can. I need to raise enough for lawyer fees to contest his guardianship (5,000 to start), the move (rent is $1600 altogether because I need first and last months) and food + basic necessities/furniture ($1,000).
