I FINALLY finished this dang thing!! I took a 2 month break in the middle while I was working 12 hour days but I still never work on a piece for so long and it feels great to be done. Now I can start other things guilt-free! https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp-jUvJDBTB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ttslzdjnopl5
This weekend I said no to all offers to hang out because I’ve been in desperate need of some me time. But also because I purchased a linocut printmaking kit and wanted to play. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m having fun! https://www.instagram.com/p/BoXQzEJhHRO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jnaif49mtbmq
Slowly slowly I’m getting there. I’m in that fun middle stage where I’m questioning all my decisions, but I think once it’s all been detailed and finished that it’ll turn into what I’ve been picturing https://www.instagram.com/p/BnkNmcFhYzQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1izxtpla494yp
Planning/tests for an embroidery project for a friend. Having a whole weekend with no plans feels so good https://www.instagram.com/p/BmYq9nGhNjE/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=l0kciz8bnodz
Yall I am so busy right now I don’t have a whole lot of time or energy to make things, so here’s some pics of an ongoing project. I’ve been sewing little fruits and veg into this hat for I think over a month and I dont think I’ll be done for a while https://www.instagram.com/p/BmV_5mpBsOk/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=18anugem1gz3q
Here’s what I ended up on- took nobody’s advice or opinion, not even my own. I’ve been so excited about this that I was working on some other new pieces tomorrow and didn’t realize I hadn’t eaten dinner til after midnight. It may be a problem.....
I’ve been meaning to play around with combining paints and embroidery for maybe a year now? And now that I did it I can’t figure out why I didn’t do it earlier. I love how this turned out, and it’s just a quick 1-day project. I need to play more but this has me excited. Also-do I add to the leaves? Maybe some softer blue outlines? I can’t decide
Kinda wish I’d stopped before adding the blue border, but that’s often the way of things. I was just enjoying painting this so much I didn’t wanna stop!
I can’t manage to stick to one style (or medium fo that matter) for very long recently, but that’s alright. Not terribly surprising for someone with severe ADHD.
Amanda’s wedding was super beautiful and I’m so glad I got to help out in some small way :)
Finished product! I love how this turned out, and I hope I’ll get to do more like it. Sorry for the 3 mildly shitty photos- taking pictures of mirrors is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
Test for a welcome sign for a friend’s wedding. Apparently I do these now!
Nobody is more surprised than I am that I can still paint. I mean...... it’s a dark-haired pretty girl so that part isn’t a surprise but hey! Getting back feels pretty good
Finished this guy and trying something new- I really prefer keeping my embroideries in their hoops to display them because I’m working within that circle when making them and I think moving them to a square frame messes with my ~~vision~~. That said, I don’t really like the look of the visible embroidery hoop hanging on my wall, so I’m trying to figure out a way around that. This is just a big experiment and I’ll have to see how it holds up, but I really like the look. Does anybody have experience messing around with this kind of thing?
I got a lil fancy and bought some hand-dyed silk floss. These threads are so dang pretty and I’m a little obsessed. So much more dimension than the usual DMC cotton I usually use. (I got these from @thethreadgatherer if you’re interested)
