Back working on my short again. Hoping to knock out the Storyboard by the end of next month so I can start animating by summertime.
I've taken a lot of inspiration from a variety of different sources for my new short film, and each source influences me in a different way, whether it be in design, animation, storytelling, pacing, humor, or even just subtle elements here and there. It's fun to study and appreciate these things.
Just finished roughing out the storyboard for my short, so now it's time to clean it up! One panel down, 505 left to go!
Feeling a bit Looney and off-model earlier today (at Warner Bros Studio, Los Angeles, California)
My finished resin sculpture! Man, @andreablasichsculpture 's class was an absolute blast!
When making a silicone mold, you pretty much end up destroying the original sculpt. It's a bummer, but that's just part of the process. And in the end, you end up with a mold you can reuse a few dozen times to make more resin copies!
Took a molding/casting class with @andreablasichsculpture this weekend. Took 2 days, but I learned a lot!
End of my last day for @andreablasichsculpture maquette workshop! Such an amazing experience! Learned so much and had a blast! I'm still gonna work on the sculpt a bit before I eventually cast it, but for the most part it's practically finished.
I'm taking a 4-day maquette sculpting class with @andreablasichsculpture ! Here's where I'm at at the end of the first day.
My coworker Ken recently brought in some Anette Marnat books he got from Stuart Ng at Comic-Con. Her work is GORGEOUS!
I normally can't stand Funko Pops, but I had to pick up an old friend. I can't believe it's been over 3 years since I moved on from BoJack to Bugs Bunny. The BoJack pilot was my first job when I moved to LA, so I can't help but feel sort of an attachment to him. I miss the show and the crew, and can't wait for the 4th season in September!
Saw this last night near Koreatown. Can't escape them! (at Koreatown, Los Angeles)
Can't start my new board yet, so here's a creepy off-model Daffy as a warm-up to nothing.
Me: Yeah, I'm not going to AX this year. Not a big anime fan.
[friends you haven't seen in a while are flying in from out of town to go]
Me: Eh, I don't wanna bother them. They'll be so busy anyway.
[cool artists/friends/colleagues selling sketchbooks n merch]
Me: As much as I want to support em, I'll end up spending a fortune. Besides I can buy directly from them later online.
[They're selling animation drawings from "Little Witch Academia" there]
