  • "You know, under the circumstances, I think this isn’t such a bad impromptu New Year’s party."
  • "I can’t believe you gave our son/daughter champagne!"

  • "You’re crazy. That place is always a zoo on New Year’s."
  • "Just pick an outfit so we can go. I mean, it’s just a New Year’s party, it’s not a black-tie event."
  • "We should probably get back to the party."
  • "What are you doing out here on the roof? The party’s inside."
  • "Snow on New Year’s! Wish it had bothered to show up for Christmas…"
  • "Where’s [name]? S/he’s my ride."
  • "I rented a limo. We are arriving to that party in style."

"Three, two, one -- party~!"

Send “3, 2, 1…” for a New Year’s kiss from my muse.

Celebrating the New Year wasn’t always Rita’s favorite thing to do. It was always the same thing: watered-down drinks, dropping balls, poppers and blowers, lather, rinse, repeat the next year. The only thing that separated one year from the other was a shitty celebration. However, this year felt different. This year felt more meaningful. Even if he was celebrating while they were at work, it made it all the more fun.

"— Nine, eight, seven —"

Rita grinned as the queens and customers all around chanted together, eyes on the television hanging over the bar. Usually, the club was enthusiastic all on its own, but New Year’s made it one big party. In a way, it felt refreshing.

" — Six, five, four —"

His gaze then traveled to the young queen beside him — and for a moment, he felt his heart flutter. Mari was clearly enjoying himself (er, herself) with a drink in hand and a wide, radiant smile. She looked so ditzy, so dumb, so adorable—

" — Three, two, one—!"

— Rita couldn’t help himself. He snagged Mari by the waist and pulled her close, pressing their lips together. Perhaps he should have stopped at a simple peck, but he couldn’t. The building tension finally boiled over, and he found himself lost in the excitement (and alcohol) buzzing in his veins. Finally, after a moment, he pulled back — and to his surprise, he felt himself grinning.

"Happy New Year… Jax.”

The excitement of the countdown to the new year (and the pleasant buzz of intoxication) rendered Mari completely clueless. She clasped a drink and cheered with the crowd, a pearly grin gleaming behind ruby red lips "Three! Two! On--!" And a strong hand grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close. Her heart pounded when she saw exactly who it was. Rita -- no, it was Anthony -- had tugged her into a kiss.  She had to be dreaming.  But she didn't want it to end.

Her arms draped over his shoulders and she poured herself into the kiss, breath hot against Rita's lips as he pulled back. "H-- Happy New Year," she managed, cheeks burning, "Anthony."
