Why do you look like Andre Harris from Victorious?

Because I... don't... though? We both have longer hair, but little in common beyond that. The actual hairstyle, head shape, body type, it's really not similar...

So! More questions about Rockoon. Who is Rodney's favorite cartoon character?

If forced to choose, he’d probably say Daffy Duck, but Wile E. Coyote, SpongeBob SquarePants, Woody Woodpecker and Sonic the Hedgehog would be favorites as well.

readasaur asked: In the web series, Sofdi did this unsettling thing where she would read someone's mind and voice their thoughts with some insightful and revealing comment. If she had done that to Rockoon, what do you think she would have said to him?

She’d see right through his toon persona. If this occurred through most points of the webseries, she'd quickly pick up on how very lonely, bitter and down on himself he truly is. But she'll also see the deeply compassionate, sensitive side he mostly tries to lock away when he's in character.

"It's like there's two people inside you who are always fighting each other. Which one do you want to win?"

readasaur asked: In the new game, how did Rockoon meet his friends in the game?

I made sure to actually reveal this within the game! You might find it very fitting.

That's reassuring, because I have Thoughts about Rockoon. My theory is that when he was younger he felt alienated from his peers for whatever reason, and turned to studying and in particular learning how to code. His home life is said to have been religious and he used to sing in the church choir. I'm guessing that the only vice he was allowed to indulge was watching cartoons, and only the heavily screened ones. Being isolated would explain both his shyness and his desire for any form of attention.

You're right in that I've always tended to imply that he was bullied irl as Rodney. A smart, sensitive kid with a unique perspective of the world and one who genuinely doesn't like to hurt others. TOME absolutely was an outlet for him to finally feel a sense of control, dominance and express big emotions. I like to believe Kirbopher is the only player to ever defeat him, hence his borderline obsession with getting revenge after Episode 01. He broke character briefly when he first met Skeight to genuinely warn him about his views on online friendships and not to get emotionally attached to him.

His Christian upbring definitely influences him somewhat morally, but I don't consider it such a strict or definitive part of who he is. The ridiculous preacher voice was very in-character, but he could've easily done something else.

Ultimately, he saw his real self in Archy, realized how close he came to finally having a true friend in Doubling, and accepted that despite his own moral code, "Rockoon" hadnt' really been any better than Odboll.

A pivitol lesson he learns is that no matter how bad things get, there's always something one can do to help someone less fortunate.

He finds a lot of genuine happiness and purpose in using his character to help make Archy smile, laugh and gain confidence. Unfortunately, he still doesn't forgive himself or trust anyone, even though Archy adores and trusts him fully. He loves Archy back, but sees him less as a friend and more as a responsibility. He's deathly afraid of his hacker past coming back to bite him some day, but only ever lets Archy see his positive and cheerful side.

Maybe one day I'll have the means to tell a proper new story in the webseries canon somehow. Maybe not. For now, some elements of what I want to explore in Rockoon and Archy's journey together have made their way into the RPG. I'm very honored to know that's what compelled you to back its production and I hope you enjoy the game!
