with adhd/autism it's funny like. people will call you weird all your life, people will bully you for your "outlandish" behaviour, people will criticize literally everything you do as "not normal", BUT THE SECOND YOU GET DIAGNOSED (or suggest you might have it) they're like "huh what but you're so normal, you're literally the most normal person I've ever seen, you're literally so normal and absolutely nothing is wrong with you? why would you have that now all of a sudden???"
““Hell is other people” is only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also “Heaven is each other”. Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings. And that’s possible on a sustained basis only in collectivity.”

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast all speak to one of humankind most consistent questions;
can French men be loved?
had the phrase “like the handgun in the first aid cabinet” come to me in a dream and damn that’s evocative. fuck if i know what it evokes though.
Oh, I like this a lot, actually. I hang my first aid cabinet on the wall so whenever someone is hurt and needs help, I can put my hands on the necessary item right away. Bandages, lidocane, disinfectant, a thermometer, it all has a home and it all says something about how I fix things. You can open my first aid kit and the bandaids have cartoon characters on them and there’s a small-size ankle wrap for little ankles and that tells you a lot about what problems I expect to encounter. If you open a first aid cabinet and the only thing in there is a handgun, it’s going to tell you a lot about the problems that person thinks they’re going to be facing and how they plan to deal with it.
If your toolbox only has a hammer in it, every problem is gonna start to look like a nail.
Sometimes the only way to save one life is to end another.
It’s the last aid cabinet.
when I was driving home today, I saw about 4 old women wearing head to toe gothic gear. Black lace, black facinators, black jewellery, black parasols
And I got super happy, just delighted that older woman in my area feel comfortable dressing in alternative fashion
it was only as i got halfway up the road that it dawned on me they're probably wearing mourning outfits cuz the Queen fukkin died
They had overnight flower delivery in the 1890s??
Look the Netherlands takes its flower industry very seriously
People underestimate how fast the Victorians could move things. There were no cars, so they had lots of trains instead - way more train lines than exist today, with much cheaper and more frequent services, because everything moved by rail so that was where all the investment went. This was the height of the industrial age, after all. And since there were no (or not many) telephones and no internet, they had multiple mail deliveries every day, because all communication was done by mail or telegram so that was where all the investment went. They had a same day mail service, even.
I'm not exaggerating about that, btw. My great-grandfather collected postcards all his life, starting as a little boy in Norfolk in the early 1900s, and among his collection is a postcard sent by a cousin who lived way up north. She posted the card first thing one morning saying that she was coming down by train to see her aunt and would be arriving at just after 3pm that afternoon - the same afternoon she posted the card. The card literally says 'this afternoon'. Posted first thing, and it arrived in good time for her uncle and aunt to know they needed to meet her off the train at 3pm that same day - and she knew posting it that it would arrive in good time. Same day delivery, and that was something like 1905.
Flower shipments from the Netherlands to London in that same era was a booming business, that's how all the markets were kept supplied. So yes, van Helsing could get flowers delivered overnight on a daily basis.
you need to get it out of your mind that psychosomatic illness is just “making up symptoms” when it’s actually much more like your body is being actively poisoned by chemicals released from your brain
if you’re so stressed that you’re puking your guts up every morning, are unable to eat or keep anything down, you can’t look at light without feeling infinitely worse and feel exhausted and in pain all the time (or whatever your particular stress induced symptom set is) you’re not just feeling like that because you’ve willed it into being. your body is begging for relief from the constant barrage of stress hormones and it requires the fundamental source of stress to go away, not just distracting yourself from the symptoms
just because the root is psychological doesn’t mean the result isn’t an entirely physical process.
