Specifically, to "swash a buckler" referred to the act of pounding a buckler (small shield) against one's own chest as a sort of macho display.
I refuse to believe that a boy with a metal leg, sitting on a saddle with metal bits, riding a dragon that could summon lightning has never been struck by lightning soooo...yuh

If you find trails of glittering goo crisscrossing your garden in the morning, there’s a good chance you’ve been visited by a Slimy-backed dragon, searching for the delicious crunch of snails. Don’t worry, they’re completely harmless (except for the glitter slime, which is a pain to clean up)
Zephyr and Dart concepts ^^ Which of these do you prefer?
I'm thinking about How to Fight a Dragon's Fury and I cannot stop thinking about what it means that Fishlegs is Alvin's son.
It was a really big plot twist, but it's also so artistic. Alvin and Hiccup are mortal enemies, and their destinies are tangled together like wired earbuds in a jacket pocket. Hiccup was quite literally an accident according to fate, and he was only born because of Alvin, and he's the only one who can defeat Alvin in the end. Alvin caused his own downfall, stepped on the metaphorical butterfly that changed his own destiny.
And then you have Fishlegs. Alvin's son. Set adrift to sea and happening to end up on Berk. Happening to become best friends with Hiccup.
Where Alvin is constantly trying and failing to kill Hiccup, the boy in question would gladly die for his son. They'd do anything for each other. Hiccup risking his life to get a potato the Hysterics might not even have just to save Fishlegs from dying of dragon poison, and crying all the way home when he thought he failed? Fishlegs, who sank like a rock in water, teaching himself to swim in a moment of panic because Hiccup was drowning?
Not to mention their undying loyalty to each other-- Fishlegs being the only person not to turn his back on Hiccup when it was revealed he had the slavemark; not even Hiccup's own tribe stood by him, and Fishlegs gave him his lobster necklace, which he held in very high reverence and associated with his family, he gave that to Hiccup. And when Fishlegs had been taken to the Amber Slavelands, Hiccup fought tooth and nail to find and rescue him.
It's one thing to mess up destiny one time. Alvin not giving the hearts stone to Valhallarama directly caused Hiccup to be born, his arch nemesis. But Alvin also tricked Termagant, and messed with fate a second time.
And then Fishlegs found his way to Hiccup, like all lost things do.
let love in. believe compliments. be vulnerable and soft-hearted. tell people you love that you love them. see beauty in everyday things. live life like you’re in a movie. don’t be afraid to begin again.
OP: makes a clearly worded post that leaves no ambiguity as to their meaning
some 19-year-old: but have you considered that this may not apply to the entirety of the human experience, and that you are in fact evil
"A Hero is FOREVER."
Drew this quite a while ago but forgot to post it until now (face palm)
(This was actually my sketch theme creation homework XD)
THW didn’t capture a single bit of the spirit the books had despite trying to imitate their ending and only served to spit on the first two movies
