Like the Hogwarts Express, only drunker and more fun

New Pup is sick in a way I can't process, we have done lots of tests and are waiting on results, but i am struggling with just scooping him up in my arms and never letting go. Hopefully it's a "A pill/powder/change of food" will fix it. I don't think I can handle if it's worse.

My whole life these past 10 days has been this derp derp. Also known as Finch. He is both awesome and terrible all at the same time. We finally heard his Husky howl today. I'm both impressed and scared.

Look at that adorable face! Meet Finch, the newest member of our pack. He's a Beagle/ Husky mix and he's all sass so far. 24 hours in and he already snagged a bag of treats off a table (possibly had help from the cat on that one)

We're effectively housebound till we can crate train him. And I'm fine with that.

I find it hilarious that I'm drinking Vax On Vax Off by Ale Asylum as I deal with Covid in my vaxed and boosted household.

Bound to happen I suppose

Well, the Rona finally found us. In reality it probably had found us ages ago and we just didn't realize when we got negative results on home tests, but whatever, it's officially in my house now.

Husband felt symptoms, tested negative at home, tested positive at hospital. I feel fine but am staying in just in case. I'll probably test Monday even if I don't have symptoms to make sure I'm not asymptomatic and just a carrier. We've got a big trip in July that I'd rather not figure out how to cancel (though the last trip we took in June is probably what got him sick to begin with so maybe we should be rethinking our lives).

I've done two instacart grocery orders in two days to stock up. Day two was all the cravings or stuff I forgot on day one's order. He's holed up in back rooms and I wear a mask anytime I have to go in to deliver food or meds. He's pretty miserable and it sucks not being able to help. I hope the main symptoms only last a few days.

I'm trying to find the right abortion fund to donate too. There seem to be a few links to different places floating about so if you've got one you can vet is legit please drop it in the comments for me to check out. It won't be much and it will never be enough but it's all my heart can do right now. I'm also calling my doctor on Monday to get a new IUD put in and ask if they do vasectomy procedures in their office (husband is not a patient at my doc currently but damn if I won't get him on a list to be seen if they can do the snip-snip becuase I'm pretty sure he'll get pushback at his doc's office).

Staring out behind my computer screen I see the garlic that needs to be harvested staring back at me. It's easier when it's a two person job - I can dig em up and my husband ties em up to dry in the basement. Of course I'll figure it out if I need to, just is easier with two.

At least it's breezy

We need to defrost our beer fridge. It's a kegerator that we mainly store can/bottles in so it freezes up everyonce in awhile due to the door being opened more frequently than intended.

It's 95 degrees out and I don't have any afternoon meetings so today is the day to haul it outside and hope it defrosts in the next 4 hours before I leave for a workout class.

But since I don't trust anyone, I can't leave it alone on front porch, so I'm out here with it, "working", and trying not to move too much or I'll melt.

Lucky for me (and my first world problems) it's breezy and my porch is shaded. Sending all the cooling thoughts I can to any others that have to be out and actually work in this heat.

Stay safe my friends.

In (insert location here) we talk about the weather

I posted on Friday about how it was chilly outside at 69 (noice) degrees. Now we are at the start of a brutal heat wave and it's clocking in at 93 right now ( 3:30 EST). I miss being chilly.

It's only going to get hotter as the week goes on. Protect yourself, your neighbors, and your pets alerts are all over social media.

So with all that, where do I decide to work today? On my front porch of course. I'm weird like that apparently.

Tomorrow will be work from inside, but for today, today I roast.

Pupster Alert

Did I post here about wanting a second dog? Have I shared yet that we met him, loved him, gave him a cat test (let him in house and he ignored said cat), paid the adoption fee and are now shopping for all things 2nd dog related?

We've got some travel coming up so the foster mom is going to keep him until July 17th which sounded like a great idea until now when I have to actually wait.

He's a beagle/husky mix (size of a beagle, markings and wiry hair of a husky, with blue eyes and just one spot of brown in one eye) and now we just need to come up with a name.

Our other animals are musically themed - Al the Beagle and Betty the black cat. Al and Betty from the Paul Simon Song, and Black Betty by Ram Jam (or Black Cat by Janet Jackson). Even though we're not super musical people we'd like to carry on the theme. Ideas so far are Dweezil (Frank Zappas kid, my mom had a husky named Zappa) or Link (for Link Wray - and also works for a video game reference for Zelda fans).

Any other ideas internet?

Let's talk about the weather

I'm out here on my porch in a t-shirt and shorts, with a beer and my computer ready to wile away the afternoon till my fancy farm fresh meat delivery comes in to the local food store and I'm damn near chilly. It's 69 (noice) degrees out, cloudy and rainy and it's just not shorts weather apparently. Problem is, I've already lugged all my stuff (inlcuding a beagle) out here and to go in and change means carting it all back inside again. Not un-doable, just obnoxious (major first world problem).

How's your Friday?

When Mel says do something, you do it. Happy SDS Friday my fine internet friends.

We went and looked at a rescue pup today and I think I'm in love. I didn't want a second dog, but this little nugget might push me over the edge to yes. He's a Beagle/Husky mix - Beagle sized with the blue eyes of a Husky and he's just adorable. We've got a play date at local park set for tomorrow so Al The Beagle can meet him and pass his own judgement.

I don't answer my phone if I don't know number. Plus I have voice-mail to text message set up.

Think I should call them back?
