it's kind of nuts how many people on here say they are critical of America, but retain these impossibly strong American puritanical values.
I've talked to so many liberals who were horrified by the idea of communal baths and freak out when I talk about going to Korean bath houses or a nudist hot springs where gasp, children can see naked bodies of all genders. Like, you are the weirdos if you think grandma's tits are an issue, that's you problem my American friends.
Nudity is not inherently sexual and sexual things are not inherently bad. In fact, seeing a bunch of naked old people growing up probably helped me resist the ubiquitous problem of body issues as a teenage girl. If you see enough saggy ass you realize we're all headed to the same place and also secondarily, if you watch them playing naked volley ball you also no longer afraid to die.

This user blocked me, but why am I bringing sex into this? Because sex has been integral to my experience as a gay man and how people perceive me since before I even started having it. Because not everything has to cater to you, and I don’t care if that makes you uncomfortable. When I made this post I was not thinking about asexuality in the slightest, but about people in my own community who show contempt for their more sexually active, less monogamous, more experimental peers. I was thinking of those with the ahistorical notion that assimilated gay men are the ones who paved the way for freaks and not the other way around. I don’t think you’re homophobic because you don’t have sex. Why would I even care about that? I think you’re homophobic because you can’t read a gay man complain about internalized shame in the community without taking offense and making it about yourself. If the shoe fits, wear it.

diana spent years advocating for the health and care of queer people with hiv/aids. in 1987, at the height of the epidemic, she opened the first specialist clinic dedicated to treating aids patients (the first clinic of it’s kind in the uk).
she also fought public hysteria by hugging and shaking bare hands with aids patients, at a time when aids was thought to be spread by skin to skin contact. not only that, she visited patients in the clinic regularly and even comforted them through their sickness.
and when queen elizabeth told her to try focusing on “something more pleasant”?
diana ignored her and kept fighting.
and this is only her work towards the aids crisis. she publicly called out the royal family, brought attention to numerous world issues, and was known as an advocate for empathy and kindness. she’s known and loved as the people’s princess for good reason
