As a chronic afraid-my-extistence-is-an-inconvenience brand people pleaser, I genuinely can’t express enough how much replacing “sorry” with “thank you” goes a long way. I’ve made a habit of just changing “I’m sorry if that doesn’t make sense/sorry I’m bad at communicating/etc” with “thank you for your patience!” And it truly makes a difference, not only for the recipient but for your own self esteem! It doesn’t put the onus on the other person the disagree with/comfort you, and it reinforces that mindset in yourself. By recognizing patience in others I’ve learned to be patient with myself. It’s a great tip :)

I really wish people would understand that there are other forms of queer rep besides two same gendered people kissing.

A queer character is queer rep regardless of their romance or a lack thereof even. Ace and aro people exist. Trans people exist. Bi people exist. Queer characters are rep by existing, not just by who they interact with. If a character is nonbinary, they are queer rep whether they kiss someone or not. A bi character in a relationship with someone a different gender is still queer rep because they are still bi. Queer characters can even just be friends with one another. They can be single! And still be queer because that’s who they are not who they do!

This whole trend of deciding if art is valid representation based on romance and ships is reductive and dismissive of identities existing within individuals. And of the communities that we all need.

Just please, stop reducing entire identities down to relationships. Its all good and fun to enjoy your ships, but you have to remember the community is bigger than just romances.

Having moment where I think so hard about fictional character but there is no new content and I don’t feel like doing anything so I am just sitting here vibrating at maximum speed rotating said character in my mind

basic self protection can look extreme if you don't understand the threat it's defending against.

a medical professional recently remarked on the spikes on my wheelchair. so i said they are to prevent people from grabbing me. then i had to clarify that yes, that does happen, with alarming regularity. and people become affronted and sometimes even violent when you tell them not to do this. he was shocked.

to him, and to many people who see me in public, the line of spikes on the back of my wheelchair probably looks extreme, if they don't think it's part of some punk aesthetic or whatever.

so perhaps before you judge someone's mode of self protection, as long as they aren't causing harm, it is worth considering they might be defending themselves against a threat you have no idea about.

And just because a truly disturbing number of people don't understand this - pushing a wheelchair user without permission is as freaky and horrible as it would be if someone came and physically moved your legs for you.

So at what point does "men are inherently evil" and being pro-transgender become compatible? Even if you're one of the absolute geniuses that think trans women are good but trans men are bad?

What is it about men that makes them evil? Is it their biology? The way their brain is wired? Is it their identity? Their masculinity?

At what point, then, does a trans woman become good? At birth? When she discovers she is a woman? When she comes out? When she transitions?

At what point does a trans man become bad? At birth? When he discovers he is a man? When he comes out? When he transitions?

What about non-binary people? What about femme boys? Butch women? What inherent qualities of womanhood and manhood affect them?

The thing is this line of questioning in and of itself is very presumptuous and not really compatible with transness as we see it today. Being a radfem is absolutely incompatible with being pro-transgender rights. If all men are trash you are, inherently, going to have to tangle with bio-essentialism. And in that case, if you're transgender, then you've already lost.

A reminder that bats are superior to swords for their inherent potential for inflicted pain

Nothing rivals a sword in homoeroticism, but for just raw pain, bone breaking, blocking, and parrying, bats reign supreme

it took me a full minute to realize that you weren’t advocating using a flying rodent to inflict pain

what if everyone referred to him solely as "princess diana's ex-husband"

we take you now live to the shamefully expensive spectacle: the coronation of princess diana's ex-husband

your government actively hates you

Just as a point of interest, breaking and entering in Missouri is only a misdemeanor. I wonder if they realize that, as long as you commit no other crime inside, it is now a lesser crime to break in somewhere (as long as it is not a state building) to sleep than it is to sleep under an overpass.
