I want a man
I want a man that’ll never let me question my beauty , I want a man to walk in the beauty supply, the thrift store , the farmers market with me A man solely interested in any activity involving me, A turn up partner , then later a cuddle partner , A museum , aquarium , jazz concert dates kind of guy , The kind that listens to 90s hip hop , and wears baggy college sweatshirts , A man so proud of me he plays the roles of my photographer and wants to capture everything about me, A man that prays about me and shows me off A man that can tell me when I’ve hurt him , he won’t feel ashamed to cry or admit he’s excited He should be my best friend , we would have faith in each other’s loyalty We reach our second connection through intimacy

Once I had these ideas of someone who really, really exhibited black empowerment and independence. I couldn’t think of anyone who was more fitting than Master P. He’s someone I’ve always had a great deal of admiration for. I asked him to come in and speak for this one song, and he ended up being the most incredible storyteller. We ended up talking for an hour and a half, two hours. It was so natural and it was, literally, like being in a self-help seminar.
