It’s that time of year, so I’m gonna be posting some Scarecrow art! Here’s my take on the later design from the animated series, voiced by the amazing Jeffrey Combs!
I’ve fallen back into the Batman fandom a bit and have slowly been working on a design for The Penguin. Some bits are different here and there but I’m just working out the kinks. Like how he’s coming out though.

As Aaron Cash surveyed the collection of small items which had appeared almost miraculously on his desk, the first question which entered his mind was ‘when?’.
Opening one of the cards to find a hand-written apology from Waylon Jones for eating his hand, Cash then quickly inspected both the bottle of metal polish with the accompanying 'for hook’ note which had been attached and the bottle of unopened whiskey for an explanation.
The second card, once opened, finally brought him some clarity as a distinctly Quinn-esque scrawl read:
“To Mistah Cash, here’s a teensy-tiny gift from us loonies (Croc too!!) for not bein’ as bad as ya could be! Happy Birthday xxxx”

Summary - Walter Johnson, loving husband and father, is a victim of the corrupt system which rules Gotham. Admitted to Arkham Asylum, he doubts his ability to survive such a heinous environment given his perfectly sane status. However, after a terrifying encounter with a man who appears anything but human, Walter soon comes to realise that there are things more dangerous than he could ever believe lurking within the walls of the asylum and his fear may be misplaced.

i am accepting submissions for a scarecrow/jonathan crane fanzine! i’m going to release this as a PDF on halloween via gumroad this year, maybe making a very limited run of physical copies a little later on.

guidelines
- fanfic and writing are allowed! please talk to me how you’d like your text to be formatted in the final product. (note - please keep writing to a maximum of 3-4 pages)
- please submit your artwork as A5 ( 5.8 x 8.3 in, 2480 x 1748 px, horizontal or vertical alignment) and at 300 DPI or above (final zine will be in 300 DPI)
- any skill level permitted! as long as i can tell you worked hard to make your submission and have clearly polished or otherwise put thought into it, i am not withholding anyone from being able to contribute based on their ‘talent’.
- multiple submissions are allowed, but please no more than 3. if you are submitting writing that is multiple pages long, you may not be able to submit more than 1-2 submissions.
- i am encouraging people to submit their own interpretations of this character, so there is no guidelines as to how he is supposed to look. you can do your own design, a canon design, whatever you want! if you are thinking of doing an AU, please talk to me first. both in and out of costume looks are allowed!
- ship/pairing art is fine and allowed.
- not going to be doing any NSFW this time around. sorry! light erotic themes are fine but please talk to me first about what you’re thinking about doing. same applies to gore/violence.
- there is no cap for number of artists/writers i’m accepting right now.

This was really fun to do and tbh I still have more ideas for props, but the psd file got really convoluted and hard to navigate, so I might try doing it again in a simpler way lmao
