they're both right. children should be treated better and given more respect and autonomy. but disabled adults are not children, and even in a world where children were treated perfectly, it would not be ok to treat a disabled adult like a child.
it should not be a surprise when a disabled adult wants to drink alcohol, or have sex, or say "fuck," or watch r rated movies. disabled adults are adults, even if our needs are higher than neurotypical and ablebodied adults.

it’s wild to me how there is literally ZERO correlation between what a piece of media is like and what its fanworks are like. 2014 captain america fans were out there writing poetry and full-on academic papers inside of their fics. sonic the hedgehog and my little pony fandoms are both famous for drawing fetishes you’ve never even heard of. les miserables fans spent most of their energy on college aus. there is literally no consistency or observable pattern and it’s incredible

Pacific rim has a wild amount of fic that’s about recovery from trauma, mental illness, physical illness, terrible injury or the general trauma of being neruodivergent and having a shitty childhood.
Good omens has a lot to do with retirement, getting to choose your own path, getting to have the family you want.

bat at hornets nest maybe but "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" refers to low income communities needing to choose between survival vs being eco friendly. not you continuing to watch the harry potter movies
also low-income people needing to shop at megacorporations with unethical business practices, often because they are themselves being exploited by corporations
the corollary for people with higher income is that it's nice to support union shops/co-ops/minority-owned businesses with your dollars but that does not in itself constitute activism or anti-capitalist action. if you want to buy indulgences there are better ways
