Scientists had a pigeon, hawk, and owl fly over super-sensitive microphones to measure how much sound was created by their flapping. Owls are known for their silent flying abilities and this is demonstrated by the barn owl in the GIF above. Watch the video

Daily Dove (Or Pigeon) 04: Shirazi Pigeon
In all honesty, I often have a hard time telling the Shirazi and the Lahore apart cos they look so ridiculously similar. At least to a numpty like me. They can have similar colours and patterns and I THINK the most defining difference is their size. The lahore is bigger if I recall correctly.
I have a pigeon character called Blue in my developing comic ‘Crumbs’ and she’s one of those breeds. I say shirazi but I might change that cos it’s my comic and I’ll cry if I want to. Or something.
A picture with a pigeon doing something other than standing there! Whooaaa. I might have some of them flying or in motion rather than standing around cos it’ll get boring otherwise and I need more practice drawing flying birbs anyway.
All of the pokemon variants were super inspiring so here are some pidoves! While the carrier breed is considered a highly reliable mail pokemon and the princess breed a popular pet, most fancy pidoves are used only for contests. Pidoves revert back to wild type within a few generations if not bred properly so fancy varieties are pretty much never encountered in the wild.
I may add more types/evolutions down the line but these were my fav of all the weird ass breeds out there. :T

I love the pigeons. I just raise them, period, and feed them. Pigeons go away, and they always come back. You get a touch of freedom, and then they are free to come back to you. I love the idea of pigeons. 🐣💫💥🔥💫 (at Home sweet home 🏠🏡)

And we kick off this little challenge with the classic rock dove, the adorable little bugger that you’ll see pretty much everywhere. Figured we’d start with a breed everyone will recognise. Tomorrow they’ll start to get a little more obscure, especially as we go down the list!

Daily Dove (Or Pigeon) Challenge!
Hey everyone! Long time, no smell!
Because I haven’t been sharing much artwork online lately, I’ve given myself this challenge: Starting from tomorrow, I am doing to sketch, colour and share a drawing of a pigeon every day for the whole of May and share it on tumblr. I call it the Daily Dove (Or Pigeon) Challenge! I like alliteration, sue me.
There are thousands of different pigeon and dove breeds out there so it wasn’t hard for me to compose a list. They consist of either known breeds, my favourite breeds or ones I figured would be fun to draw. Some are even new to me and I’m looking forward to sketching them out! I’ll be tagging the artwork as ‘Daily Dove’.
I’ll try my best not to miss a day although I am realistic to know that sometimes real life will get in the way, be it from prior commitments or bad feels. Even so, I’m going to give it my best shot!
