Hello our pigeon-dating fans. We have a sad announcement to make. Many of you may have guessed this, but the Hatoful Girlfriend project has been canceled. This was many of the staff's first project, and they had set a goal too high to reach. That being said, the blog will remain up as a gallery of sorts for the assets we had created in the making of the game. We deeply apologize for any of you who may be disheartened by this, but we appreciate the fact that we managed to hold your attention for any amount of time from the bottom of our avian hearts.

Nope! The scripter has merely been busy lately. We hope to get a good amount of work done over Winter!

Hello everyone!

Sorry for being absent for so long!! Progress has slowed to a stop lately, as we’ve been busy with other things.

So, here’re some updates: Tomorrow, one of our more important contributors is returning from a hiatus and we’ll be able to post her works then! This includes Chi (the newest character)’s concept, and 3 new songs.

Which VN engine are you going to use? I can't find Famous Writer on a Google search, but I can recommend the Ren'Py engine. Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux OS. Also, are you guys writing it originally in English or Japanese? Either way, good luck.

We've already planned on using Ren'py. It's simple and customizable, so there won't be many problems coding it.We're writing it in good ol' English, as none of the members of the team speaks Japanese fluently, and there wouldn't be much point in writing it in Japanese anyway. Maybe someone will want to translate it to Japanese later on?

Hatoful Girlfriend takes place in the same year as Hatoful Boyfriend, in a different area of Japan. Here, the transition of birds to being the leading species greatly affects life. Your family's power affects the life you live, along with your species.

Our protagonist, Hiro, however, is blessed. He is birthed into an ancient, powerful human family, perhaps the only one that still holds a presence. Because of this, he has been nurtured and isolated from the outside world, his only entertainment being the fairy tale books he had read to him when he was young.

He wants to be the prince that saves all the princesses, like in his stories. And this leads him to beg his parents to let him attend a school, so he can have some form of contact with any person. It cannot be any school, however. It has to be high-class for him to be properly safe, his elders believe. They send him off to West Wing Academy, an educational facility specializing in research and sports.

Here, he goes on many crazy adventures, some being Heartful and others Hurtful, while he quests to find his One True Princess.

She mentioned that fanprojects were a-Ok, and since we're neither using her backgrounds nor art, it's most likely ok.

We'll do a check-in before releasing it, though.
