This mollusc ass will not leave my mind
My first Owl House animations from five years ago, back before the show was greenlit.
So this is a painting made with the…help? Use? Assistance? of an AI, or more accurately, a visual learning algorithm thingy. I started out by feeding prompts about birdhouses into the Midjourney AI.
Lots and lots of prompts. I easily racked up a good hundred-odd birdhouses over a couple days. (Most of which, of course, ranged from horribly deformed to simply boring.) Whenever I made one—largely by accident—with an interesting composition, I ran variations on it. This one began life as “scene of a birdhouse like a beehive, in the style of a tarot card.” It looks nothing like either a beehive or a tarot card, but I thought the composition was neat.
Of course, at that point all I had was a fairly small jpg, in a sort of oil paint style that got squishy if you looked too close, and no birds. (Probably there is an AI that does birds that do not look like mutants, but I have yet to see it.) So off I went to Procreate. (I hope this video works!)
This is not a composition I would necessarily have come up with by myself. On the other hand, it’s not an image the computer could have come up with by itself either. Most of the AIs I’ve played with are good for running through thumbnails and concepts, but bad at refined images. Having to scale way up and fix all weird mushy bits took a fair amount of work, but I kinda like the end result.
Anyway, it’s interesting. Also American goldfinches generally don’t use birdhouses, meaning this would be an entirely unnecessary birdhouse, but I somehow find that kind of appropriate too.

sorry to do this but our cat Oz really needs to see a vet & get dental work done
he has been having issues with his teeth & if we dont take him in soon theres a possibility a tooth could become impacted
it could cost us anywhere from $380 to $2800 depending on the state of his teeth. i have some money i can use towards his vet visit but i know hes going to need an extraction which is going to be really costly

he has a surgery appointment today & i need $300 more to cover the bill
we had to postpone oz's appointment because he threw up a couple times right before & the vet wants us to monitor him. we think it might just have been a side effect from his injections he got during his bloodwork appointment
we scheduled his surgery for a new date, april 18th & we will need some help paying for the surgery. i should have $500, maybe $600, that i can use towards his surgery but our estimated total cost for the procedure is $900

Their head and feet are hand sculpted from polymer clay, while their body and tail are reinforced with a wire armature cushioned with polyfiber to allow for basic posability. Their tail also doubles as a support stand so each sprite can be displayed upright!
