We’ve had a pretty wild week. Take a look at what’s new at The Establishment in 2017, what’s not ever going to change, and what’s coming next.
We’ve migrated our entire site to Medium. Here’s what that means to you!
Trump’s nuts roasting on an open fire as he keeps nipping at his foes. you’ll cry creepy uncle every time he arrives for he keeps clawing at your clothes everybody knows some money and entitlement can help to make the season white mothers of color with their kids out of sight will find it hard to sleep at night.
They know that truuump is on his way. he’s got black boys in hoodies locked up on his sleigh and every working man is going to cry when they learn that Letch don’t care how you live or if you die
Sooo I’m offering this simple phrase to kids from 1 to 92 although it’s been said many times, many ways Merry Christmas to you Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas Donald Trump, fuck you
I questioned this. I questioned why the most popular act of solidarity would be silent, why marginalized people would have to look for it. I questioned why, in times like this, people weren’t shouting. I questioned why so many people who would never wear a Black Lives Matter shirt are jumping to put on a safety pin. And to those questions, I received hundreds of replies.
Alicia Garza, co-founder and co-leader of Black Lives Matter, the most significant movement working to fight for racial justice right now, eloquently and calmly tried to explain why, yes, Amy Schumer’s words and actions are racist and hurtful, and Inside Amy Schumer’s executive producer/head writer Jessi Klein repeatedly prevented her from finishing by throwing up her hand and saying essentially, “I hear you, but Amy Schumer is not racist.”
As Jessi rudely interrupted Alicia, the audience screamed “LET HER TALK!”
After the cameras stopped rolling last night, at a San Francisco celebration of W. Kamau Bell’s brilliance, the conversation got super, super awkward. coverage by EST Editorial Director Nikki Gloudeman, who was in the audience and saw it all.
Would you entrust a former reality TV star with your vaginal health?
“The cycle of surrogacy is a conundrum for developing nations—including India—with no easy solution. Poverty and lack of opportunities often push women towards surrogacy. But it is also poverty that makes them susceptible to exploitation because they are not in a position to negotiate.
Addressing either side of the equation, without resolving the other part, cannot lead to a sustainable solution. India needs to regulate surrogacy, not ban it.”
“How problematic can a candidate be and still get my vote? Where is the line?”
What’s the deal with baby showers for dads? @thatbadadvice weighs in:
The Bad Advisor has really heard some whoppers over the years, but the idea that men ought to have any involvement with the production of children that extends beyond their genetic contribution is distasteful in the extreme.
Is there anything more foul than the scoundrel who takes an interest in the rearing of his offspring? The awful question, of course, answers itself.
Encouraging men to participate in parenthood is a disgusting and abhorrent proposition that should be extinguished immediately by the righteous indignance of fine people such as yourself.
These rogue reprobates who find fatherhood appealing must be stopped and you are brave to take a stance against this vile practice of paternal enthusiasm.
THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT LACK OF MEDIA REPRESENTATION!
They’re called Represent & they’re a startup nonprofit actually doing the thing! First, they’re starting an acting, screenwriting, & filmmaking school for diverse folks FREE OF CHARGE!
That’s right! FREAKIN FREE! IN LOS ANGELES! LIKE THIS IS UNHEARD OF FOLKS
And then there’s this
They’re literally gonna teach executives, showrunners, writers & casting folks TO DO BETTER!
But they’re also gonna fund independent stuff!
They’re basically a nonprofit production house created to fund media by & for diverse folks!
But THE BEST PART IS
THEIR MISSION IS INTERSECTIONAL! LIKE, THEY ACTUALLY SAY IT IN THE MISSION! THIS QUEER BLACK LADY IS SOBBING OK! THIS IS A LOT!
Thanks so much for your support!
It’s actually super easy to vote for them. I did it in under 2 mins.
REPRESENT WAS IN THE LEAD BUT THE VOTING DEADLINE JUST CHANGED TO FRIDAY OCT 28!
PLEASE VOTE & LEAVE A COMMENT IF YOU CAN TO SHOW HOW MUCH REPRESENTATION MATTERS!
"How do you mourn the death of something that so many people keep saying was never alive in the first place? How do you talk about the heartbreak of losing what so many people refer to as ‘a clump of cells?’”
"When it comes to #sex, #sexuality, and #gender, there is a disheartening lack of words in standard #Arabic."
Madame President and also QUEEN
To me the best part was she owned up that she isn’t funny. That she wasn’t good at telling jokes and that these were written for her. It was something few people are willing to say during a roast, and it was a subtle way to remind us that she isn’t going to be her husband or Obama (and Bush Jr too although it’s not something people like saying) she is too serious and too focused on her job to be the fun cool have a beer with me president, but this is part of the presidency so she did it to the best of her ability while completely owning it was a weakness- and still managing to beat trump. Even when it’s a weak part of her presidential skill set she’s more qualified than him. I dunno if others agree but I just. Really appreciated that from her.
Just like the GOP candidate for president says: rape victims only speak up about their assaults for all that inevitable fame and fortune. Meet over 4 dozen women who hit the cash and notoriety jackpot!
