Self-fashion blog for Ultimaja

I’ve received my 2014 Bodyline Lucky Bag yesterday. I’m going to do a little review on mine soon, but for now I wanted to show this extra special treat I got.

I’m not sure exactly what I can do with 3 left-side and 14 right-side unattached sleeves, but I do appreciate the laugh they gave me. (≧∇≦)

Update! I sent an email to Bodyline on the weekend about the sleeves. I got a reply back apologizing for the error, plus a refund for half of the lucky bag! ( ・╭╮・) They also mentioned to write back if the sleeves weighed more than 900g, but thankfully they don’t. So now I have a one-of-a-kind half-Lucky Bag~

i thought i read on the site that their 2014 Lucky Bags are things that are full of defects and scrapped pieces, because they can’t afford to give away actual good or complete items

That’s true, but that’s about their third(?) release of bags.

I brought my bag at release, which had no sizes. The next lot had sizes, and either they were also defective, or that was later introduced.

So I’m not sure what happened with mine XD

(I replied from the wrong blog at first, so sorry about that)

2014 Bodyline Lucky Bag

Edit: I wrote to Bodyline about the sleeves and received a 50% refund. So now I have items that suit a ¥2,500 Lucky Bag and make the haul I got a much better deal. Since this is now an incomplete bag, I don't recommend using this review as a decider to purchase any future Lucky Bags. I am going to leave my review as it was before the error was corrected, but please keep in mind the new value of the bag I paid for.

Oh wow, I didn't think sleeves could be so popular! I tried to read everyone's comments about them, but I lost track after 200. I hope everyone got as big of a laugh from them as I did ( ・ヮ・ ) I ordered my 2014 Bodyline Lucky Bag at the beginning of their release, just after midnight JST, so I didn't get a choice in sizes. My size is about S~M. I also ordered two additional dresses, so I'd at least have something if the bag turned out to be rubbish. In summary, I paid ¥5,000 for the pack and got: L495 Red size M - ¥2,999 L438 Owh size M - ¥2,499 P316 Blu size M - ¥799 BAG054 - ¥999 17x sleeves - ¥??? Total = ¥7,296 I guess I technically got my money's worth, though I am a teeny bit disappointed with my haul. L495 Red size M

I was thinking about buying this JSK for a little while now, so I'm really happy to get it. On me, it's a little loose around the bust. The plastic-boned corset helps with that, so all I would need to do is to pin down the excess fabric under the arms. I did discover one curious thing though. All of the fabric used in the JSK is exactly the same fabric used in Classical Puppets' Theatre of Tragedy OP:

L438 Owh size M

It's a really cute dress. There's three different kinds of lace and a chiffon ruffle around the neck. The only problem I found was that the detachable bow's lace is slightly purple while every other lace is the same shade of pink.

It's also a little loose around the bust, so I'm torn between keeping it and getting it tailored, or passing it on. I'll have to hang onto it for a little while before I decide (and so I can fix the zipper getting caught on its own fabric). P316 Blu size M

These are from the Sundries section. They seem quite small for a M, particularly in the legs. Hopefully they'll stretch out (if they get a chance to). BAG054

According to the website, it's sold out, and according to Lolibrary, it's a replica of Fruits Parlor. I'm not really fussed on bags, so I'll probably pass this on in the future. It's a nice bag. There's little lines of glitter around the glasses; the inside of the bag looks quite spacious, but pocketless; and the straps look fairly secure. I wouldn't recommend carrying it on a bare shoulder in summer though. In comparison, the second half of my order was: L389 Red-Owh size M - ¥999 L061 Owh size m - ¥1,999 ACC1046 Blk - ¥499 Total = ¥3,497 Both dresses fit with no problems and I was overall much happier with them. Personally I'm leaning towards not buying another Lucky Bag, but there have been a few girls who got a really great haul. I don't regret taking the risk though. Hopefully my Bag is the worst that can happen!

I managed to pop into a kimono for the end of the year! ( ’ ヮ’ )

It was really easy now that I have a proper datejime. I think I got lucky with wrapping my sarashi too. I haven’t been suffering from any of the little discomforts that I usually get from wearing kimono all day~

I think the last time I wore kimono was in March. I’ve been meaning to wear it more often, but I haven’t had the heart for it. I’ve also been busy dabbling in lolita fashion too.

I’m hoping for next year that I can get back into dressing elaborately again. I miss dressing up.

You are not Japanese and you do not belong in a kimono

There’s a short explanation here as to why what you are doing is so inappropriate.

Please do not send rude messages to the mods of that blog. If you have an issue, take it up with me.

This will be the only response I make on this subject.

While yes, I am not Japanese, the blog you linked to also states:

If you do wear kimono or yukata etc, wear it correctly. Don’t yellowface. The most important thing while wearing something of any culture (even if it’s your OWN) is to wear it with RESPECT.
If you’re posting a picture of you wearing said kimono online and tagging it as “kimono”, make sure it’s actually a kimono or we will correct you.

I have spent years of my life continuously learning how to wear, tie, clean, repair and store kimono and obi. While I'm not able to wear it to a textbook standard, I do wear it authentically and constantly teach and correct others in regards to it. I absolutely do not wear kimono to offend. I do not claim it as my own. I wear it to support all the friends I have made whose livelihoods are integrated into the kimono culture and to educate others that kimono isn't a tacky satin mini dress.

Here's some more not-so-great photos.

This was the outfit I was initially going to debut in, but I got talked into wearing pure black so I would coordinate better with my black x blue wearing friend.

I still wore this to Sydney, but on the day my friends and I decided to skip going to Animania.

I've had my eye on this dress for such the longest time. I'm really happy to finally own it. All I need now are the matching shoes!

Dress: Classical Puppets ~ Theater of Tragedy OP Shoes: An*Tai*Na ~ 9804 (Black, 9cm Heel) Necklace: hollyli201198 ~ Black Lace ANKH Cross Choker Necklace Headdress: Surface Spell ~ Rose and Daisy Headdress (Wine)

I wasn't able to get a better photo, but I finally made my Lolita debut in Sydney!

I dressed up for Animania and ended up there during the afternoon of the first day. Decided against making the effort to travel back for day two, but it did have a good effect on encouraging me to try to attend more Sydney conventions.

Blouse: Classical Puppets ~ Arctic Fox(?) High Collar Chiffon Blouse (Black) Skirt: Classical Puppets ~ Gemini's Prayer(?) Corset-Waist Skirt (Black) Tights: eBay Shoes: An*Tai*Na ~ 9804 (Black, 9cm Heel)

I'll start this blog with the most recent picture I have of myself in kimono.

My kitsuke isn't perfect and sometimes gives me a bad time, but it's at a level where I feel confident enough to do day-to-day things outside without worrying about everything falling apart.

I wore this kimono as part of my yearly tradition.

Ever since I lucked out and found these at my local charity antique fair a few years ago, I've been wearing kimono to every fair since in hopes of being able to luck out again.

I ended up finding a pair of zori and matching obijime for my little cousin when she grows older.
